The hotel might have been OK 20 years ago but is currently totally outdated. Miles away from what you can expect from am ACCOR group hotel. Dirty carpets in the floors and rooms. Room with balcony and pint falling from the balcony door. Bathroom deteriorated by humidity. Only the lobby looks fine and personnel was professional and friendly. Needs a serious refurbishing.

This hotel would have been fantastic 14 years ago. The rooms are dated, but they are spacious. The WiFi was good, the towels were meh. The bed was diem, but for me I like that. There was not really any water pressure in the shower. The breakfast was ok (I blame Covid) and the gym was small but it worked. Parking is tough if you have a bigger car, make sure you coordinate with the hotel. The staff were sooooo and friendly, they make up for a lot of the shortcomings of the hotel.

This hotel is MAFIA. I booked at a flexible rate for early July dates, with reimbursement if cancellation 24h before arrival. I canceled my booking 14 days before arrival and did not hear back from them after one month. Sending a mail requesting to be reimbursed mid-July and reminder one week later. I NEVER heard back from the hotel and THEY LIED to Accor assistance saying they will not reimburse me because I canceled after my supposed date of booking... Accor assistance told us that other travelers are in the same case and since April they don't want to reimburse as well. It's really disappointed and a SHAME to see that Mercure Catania and Accor do not they their responsability to reimburse customers and take us and our money as hostages.  DO NOT BOOK here because EVEN WITH FLEXIBLE RATE THEY DON'T WANT TO REIMBURSE!!  Siete davvero mafiosi e mi ricorderò quando panifichero di tornare in Sicilia

We read mixed reviews about this hotel but it does the job. Rooms are reasonably spacious. Bathrooms are fine. Coffee making facilities in the room which it doesn't make clear when booking. We brought a kettle and tea/coffee needlessly. Breakfast is OK with a reasonable choice but is pretty much the same every day. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel. Receptionist at check in was helpful but going in and out of the hotel there is no acknowledgement. Location is not the best. If I came again I would stay near to Il Duomo. Very little around the hotel in terms of bars/eateries which has been disappointing. There is a bus stop right outside to take you to the Rail Station, Airport and generally around Catania etc

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, there’s a bus stop opposites the hotel where the airport shuttle dropped us, which is very convenient. The hotel check in was ok, the receptionist at the check in wasn’t particularly friendly or unfriendly, pretty robotic without smile. We had a room on the 3rd floor facing the square with a balcony, the room is nice and spacious and clean, the bathroom is huge with a bathtub and a shower. The window of the balcony doesn’t close tightly so I can feel the wind slipping in, and because the hotel is right on the square there are a lot of homeless people, especially outside the main entrance of the hotel, and each evening around 8-10pm the dog of one of the homeless people starts to bark non-stop, it is really loud with the window not closing properly and no way that it is relaxing, I know it is not the hotel’s fault but it really affects the stay and stress the hell out of me after listening to dog barking constantly for an hour every evening. The hotel in general is ok, walls are bit dated and carpets have some stains on it, the bar area is very nice and the drinks are good with nice bar snacks. The breakfast is very basic and simple, the hot food choice is really limited, but nice cakes. But don’t expect the breakfast to be the highlight of the stay. The hotel is near a shopping street with nice shops, it is also within walking distance to all the monuments, on Sunday there’s also a fruit market on the square in front of the hotel which is nice. The service is ok but not overly personal. In general I think it’s a nice and average stay.
