Very nice place with helpful staff. Hotel is located in classic old building with small square inside used as car parking. Outside the hotel you can find small grocery, bar and bus-stop. There is 300 meters to St Agatha Catedra and known Elephant statuary where begins via Etnea the main shopping street also with lot of historic squares, churches and buildings.
We made a last minute trip to Cantania from our home in Scalea by train. We had a number of items on our checklist: easy walk from train, near center, comfortable, would take our dog. Hotel Biscari checked these all off and more. First off, most hotels don't list the walking time from the train station. Well Biscari is an easy fifteen minute walk. If you do it right you only cross one busy street. Walking down Victor Emanuelle you will see a street sign for the hotel just before its street. Make a left and the hotel sign is clear to see. You ring the buzzer enter through a courtyard and then go up a few flights of stairs. We were greeted at reception by a friendly woman who also spoke English. We had a triple room with a balcony overlooking the street that the hotel is located on. Room was large and so was the bathroom. Even though the building is old the rooms feel recently updated. Breakfast was the best surprise, its on the roof top terrace and you can sit inside or outside. Breakfast selection was very good, including meats cheese and hard boiled egg. The cornettos were the best I've had in Italy, very fresh and soft. Its just a quick walk down the street to the Elephant fountain square, lots of cafes for Aperitivo. The main street starts here for walking. Behind the square is the fish and vegetable market, which has lots of restaurants in the evening. We all all in agreement that this will be our base when we return, which will be soon…
The hotel is very close to the port in Catania and about 10 min walk to the city center. The area is very nice and you can find a lot of bars, restaurant, gellaterias next to the hotel. There is even a small market to buy water or some groceries. The room is very spacious and big, but the bathroom is small. Anyway, they are clean, well maintained and they provide everything you need. The breakfast is nice, not so many options, but for sure you find what you need to eat. Special thanks to the Romanian lady, Sofia, she was great with us, helpful and providing all the info we needed.
The absolute highlight of this hotel is the rooftop setting for breakfast. But note that four steep sets of stairs have to be climbed to get to reception. The hotel is well located near the centre of town.Key things missing are1.Tissues in the bathroom 2.Coffee making in the room.3.A bar fridge in the room. Also missing was SkyTV or equivalent.A nice hotel but so easily could be better
rated at 2 stars but i felt better than a lot more places. the room is big, the place is quite, the ac works perfect, the hosts are very friendly and want to help. English is not their strong point but they are so willing to help that i felt at home. the breakfast has basic choices but all are good and you can have it in a terrace overlooking catania. Strongly recommend the place.
