I am sorry to write a negative review, as staff is kind and very professional, and hotel lobby is welcoming. But, the city does not take any pride in itself. We checked in and checked out on same day, but we prepaid, so we lost everything. We had come from Siracusa (fabulous), but decided to move on to Cefula (Le Calette - another jewel). Catania is not a welcoming city. We did go look at the Romano Luxury Palace, and the grounds were better there, but it was the same problem - we would be a prisoner of the facility. By the way, they "perfume" the rooms - if you decide to stay, mention if you do not want perform (we found it suffocating - at first I thought they were trying to mask a prior's guest's smoke, but when I finally asked about it, I learned this is what they do). Graffiti everywhere in the city, and trash bags randomly around the city. I didn't think to take many photos of the the trash bags, but got a lot of the graffiti so you can get a sense of the city. Also, the area does not cater to tourists - no shops/boutiques, no enticing restaurants, so you become a prisoner of your room, as there is nothing to do.…
I really wonder who gives 5 stars to this hotel… We booked a superior room for 3 nights and were given a room with such a horrible view that we refused to take it. The lady at reception claimed the hotel was fully booked but her colleague, Giacomo, who really wanted to help, showed us other rooms: one with a murphy bed (who needs a murphy bed in a hotel??) meaning no side lamps or any light in the bed area and one next to the elevator which we took reluctantly and ended up being constantly disturbed. The next day we asked to change rooms and he said that he would upgrade us. When we came back in the evening, no upgrade was implemented, and our bags were in a room with a murphy bed! We asked to move to the first room with the horrible view; we just wanted to rest. Except that there was some sort of annoying ventilation noise outside the room. In addition to this terrible experience, housekeeping is appalling. This is how the bed was made (see photos). Thank you to Antonio for brightening up the breakfast room! You do save the hotel.…
This hotel in the old city of Catania was once a mansion, but re-done in a very contemporary style. Large beautiful rooms, good air conditioning, flat screen TV built into the wall, large bathroom with walk in shower. Young, friendly staff is very helpful. Breakfast and wi-fi very good. There is a roof top terrace. Catania, at first doesn't appear to be a very safe city, lots of transition going on, but this hotel is very safe and secure. I researched a lot of hotels in Catania and feel this is the only place I would recommend to stay and I have traveled extensively.
The front desk gave great customer service helping to confirm my next day's car reservation. They also called a taxi so our group could get to the airport. The breakfast has many excellent choices of American and European foods, but also offers some traditional Sicilian meats, cheeses and olives. The wait staff at breakfast was very friendly and helpful.
This is a first rate hotel which is very convenient to the main square of Catania. Great staff, incredible breakfast, and very comfortable room with great bed. The manager was very accommodating with a sense of humor.
We stayed here on the last evening of a Rick Steves tour of Sicily. The hotel rooms have been recently updated. They were very comfortable and spacious with lots of windows to open. The bathroom was also good sized by European standards. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was surprised how close we were to the City Center--just a few short walkable blocks away. Best of all was the absolutely sumptuous Breakfast buffet--with great coffee service! I was sorry I wasn't much hungrier!
We didn't like: The room overlooks a very small internal patio, it feels like being in a well. The bathroom is large, however the shower area is too small with no door, meaning water all over the floor. There is no hook for the hand towel and it ends up next to the basin, or even better, on the floor! No shower cap nor glasses, essential items in a 4-star hotel. A kettle to make coffee or tea would be appreciated. The room and the bathroom are poorly lit and could be better cleaned. Ventilation noice heard on regular basis. We liked: Comfortable bed and nice, helpful staff.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Very central yet quiet. Super friendly staff and great cannolis 😋 Walking distance to lovely restaurants. Spacious room with bathtub and huge double bed. My first time in Sicily but definitely not the last. Great food and friendly laidback people
The staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. Front desk were very welcoming - on arrival, when we came down for breakfast and when going out and coming back to the hotel. Antonio in the restaurant was really good and genuinely interested in where we lived and told us how much he loved visiting London. Breakfast choice was excellent - I ate too many cannolis! Our room - on two floors - was ideal. The hotel is very close to the main high street and we enjoyed meals out in 3 of the restaurants which were no more than 100m from the hotel.
We had a very nice stay, the rooms were clean and very upscale. We had two rooms, both were nice, both were clean, the beds were very comfortable and wifi worked great. We did not watch any tv as we were on vacation, the breakfast was a la carte and Antonio was very profesional and dedicated. The breakfast was also very good. We chose the hotel because of the location, everything is within walking distance and we were able to park in front of the hotel. The hotel does not have parking of it's own. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
