Antiche Volta is run by friendly and flexible staff offering spacious, well kept and full of character rooms in a location from where you can walk to the city centre and bus station to go to the airport or elsewhere in Sicily - what else could you ask for?

This is a very cosy B&B, well located - it is not in the old town per se but both the old town and the beach are reachable in a 20 minutes walk. Staff are very helpful, the rooms spacious and comfortable. Wifi works well.

We enjoyed our brief stay in the elegant surroundings of Antiche Volte. Chiara was very helpful. As one of our group has mobility problems and the historic centre is about a mile away we used taxis arranged by Chiara. The same driver gave us a daily rate of 300 euros to take us to the fish market, Mt Etna and Taormina which between 4 of us was good value. We also used the hop on hop off bus but as this only runs hourly you can't really use it to stop and see places. We had a world class concert pianist and local orchestra at the beautiful and comfortable Theatro Massimo for 30 euros which was excellent.

Room Tip: The basic room is fine. The "city view" of the dearer room in restricted and not worth...

Sadly, due to a lightning strike on Italian railways, we only had one night in this exquisite B&B. A shame as Catania looks as if it would reward a longer stay in its sophisticated surroundings. It's more civilised than Palermo in my view. Our room was gorgeous, with 19thC painted ceiling and lovely modern decor and bathroom. The jacuzzi bath was a dream after a long rail journey from Naples! The B&B is not far from the centre of Catania with its shops, bars and restaurants. One thing to remember is that, like many Italian B&Bs, there's nobody permanently on the premises after 11am. So check with them if you're going to arrive later on so that they can arrange to meet you. But they couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful so this really wasn't a problem. Breakfast was very tasty with lots of homemade cakes and things. Good coffee too!
