Enjoy your stay in Oristano!
My wife and I stayed two nights. Couldn't have been more pleasant. Clean, attractive, comfortable, inexpensive with ample, good breakfast. 10 - 15 minute drive to downtown Oristano and Tharos. Hostess speaks adequate English and will humor your efforts at Italian. We'd stay again if in the area.
Il Mirto is located in a quiet residential area about 6 kilometres from the centre of Oristano. There don’t appear to be any facilities in the area surrounding the B&B – we were told that the nearest shopping centre is about 2 kilometres away. So a car is pretty much essential. Free parking is available in the street outside Il Mirto. Upon arrival we were welcomed by the lovely lady host who introduced herself as Donatella. After taking us inside her (truly lovely) home she offered tea or coffee and some savouries. Donatella is not fluent in English but knows sufficient to explain the facilities of the B&B and what is available to see in Oristano and nearby, and provided us with maps. The home is a delight, as was our ensuite room. There appear to be three rooms available for hire. Donettella and her family live under the house which means the main part of the house – lounge, kitchen, dining area, is available for guests to freely utilise. There was a washing machine on the balcony, which we took advantage of. Wifi is complimentary and our room had air conditioning. Breakfast was plentiful with all the usual breads, pastries, condiments, etc available but Donatella went that little step further and offered to cook us eggs, which we immediately accepted not having had an egg for breakfast for over a week in Italy. Il Mirto was perfect accommodation and probably the best value accommodation I’ve encountered anywhere in the world. Strongly recommended.…
Tucked away in a quiet residential cul-de-sac, (in Donigala Fenughedu, rather than Oristano proper), B&B Il Mirto is well worth seeking out (a car is essential). It is a B&B rather that an hotel and this place is all about the proprietors, who make it so special. Nothing is too much trouble for Donatella, whose breakfasts are the stuff of legends. As noted by other reviewers, you get full use of the kitchen (so us Brits can make a decent cup of tea) and even the washing machine, if needed. On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen with a table and a lounge with sofas and a dining table, with open plan stairs. On the first floor there are two well appointed bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom and the other with exclusive use of the main bathroom. Two couples travelling together would have the place to themselves. Donatella (who lives in the self-contained sub-basement) is on hand to cook the breakfast (or you can DIY) and generally make the place a home from home. One breakfast table is laid in the kitchen and the other in the lounge, but if the occupants of both rooms want to eat together, there is room for all at the lounge table (except, perhaps, that Donatella's generous breakfast spread does rather tend to take over the entire table!) There are plenty of places to dine in Oristano, which is about 5 to 10 minutes away by car.…
Very friendly proprietor Donatella aims to please. She cooks breakfast to order, offers the use of her laundry facilities, and provides helpful info about the area. Clean, cozy room, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom with good shower. Full use of guest kitchen and living room. Best wifi connection (free) we had anywhere in Sardinia. We will stay again on our next trip!
