Good: - breakfast: an unimpressive but sufficient variety, all product of very good quality, very prompt and elegant service, given the restrictions for COVID-19, without self-service. Very good coffee! - location: excellent, 5 minute to old city, with a wonderful view (we had a superior twin with sea view), a few restaurants nearby for lunch, a pharmacy, a supermarket, bus station at 2 minutes walking. The next beach - La marina - at 15 min walking. - the room: large, very clean, an excellent AC with individually control, good enough toiletries. - the staff: very kind and nice young lady at the reception, unfortunately I don't know her name. Attentive, receptive, helpful! Also very prompt and efficient all the staff at breakfast, especially in the conditions of Covid restrictions. Very nice and professional also the cleaning girl from Morocco. Conclusion: professional, kind and very efficient staff in this hotel! Not so good: - there are no hangers to dry the towels in the room, when you come from the beach - the beds are a bit narrow, but this wasn't a problem for us, anyway - there are only plastic cups and glasses, a bit unsuitable for a 4 star hotel - the shower cabin is small and there is no place to put your own toiletries - our bathroom has a bad smell; maybe only ours - it would have been great to have at breakfast some specifically Italian products - prosciutto, bresaola, parmigiano. There are no fresh vegetables and no fish. I'm not criticizing, I'm just mentioning. For us the breakfast was wonderful.

Stayed here 7 nights in an upgraded 6th floor room with fantastic views across the harbour and old town. On arrival room cleanliness was very poor however it was dealt with quickly and efficiently by staff. The room was spacious, comfy bed, safe, decent wardrobe, quiet though toiletries and drinks tray were pretty basic, no tissues and only powdered milk. Staff were friendly professional and helpful. Breakfast was adequate but basic, but more than compensated by the view from the 9th floor breakfast room. Location is excellent. For starters the airport bus stops 100m away and the harbour, old town, shops and dozens of reasonably priced restaurants are a 5 min walk. Restaurants we liked were,Nautilus Ristorante and Marcopolo. Beware the cobbled streets, flip flops not recommended. Beware also of the many boat trips to the caves, it’s 32e per couple and the 40 min boat trip is very pleasant. What is not made clear is that on arrival you are done for a further 26e to gain entry to the caves!! Alghero is lovely and we stayed 7 days and enjoyed it but 4 or 5 days may be enough for many. Would we stay at Hotel Catalunya again? Probably on balance yes, great location, nice people, spacious room, quiet, wonderful views, breakfast average for a 4star hotel but overall we had a very pleasant stay.

Stayed at this hotel in sept 2019 the hotel is very well placed for the port and old town which we really liked , the room was always very clean and spacious, and the bathroom was also of good size, if we are critical of the hotel then the plastic throw away cups in the room which often split could be replaced with glasses, also we had to move rooms during the stay as the air conditioning system was leaking, which the hotel staff dealt with very well, the only other annoying thing was the lifts are very slow,Good views from the bar at the top over Alghero would we stay at this hotel again if we were in Alghero, yes we probably would .

We recently stayed here as part of a group. The location of the hotel is fantastic - close to beaches and the Alghero town square. Very walkable to everything. Our room was nice and roomy, as was the bathroom. The air conditioning did not work initially, but we reported it to the front desk and went out to explore, and by the time we'd returned, it was working properly. Others in our group also reported that their A/C was not working when they arrived in their rooms. There are no tissues in the bathroom, which is very strange. I don't know anyone who can go a whole day without having to use a tissue. Someone in our group inquired and was told by hotel staff that they do not provide tissues. The breakfast buffet was nice - hot items as well as pastries and fruit. The view is spectacular.

Dear Patraveler65, we thank you for staying at the Hotel Catalunya and we are happy that you enjoyed our location, at a walking distance from the old town and the beaches. We are also glad that you appreciated the comfort of our rooms and our efficient staff, always ready to solve any problem. It is not so usual to find tissue in the italian hotel rooms, but it is a very good suggestion to improve the comfort of our guests. Thank you for your tip! We hope you will come back soon to Alghero and visit us again, best regards
