Although this hotel is marketed as 4* with non smoking rooms, the hotel rooms do smell of cigarette smoke quite badly. The room itself was appointed well but dated. The biggest downside is as a 4* hotel you would expect to have a restuarant on site, and the availability to tea / coffee facilities in the room - neither of which were available. Couldn't even get a coffee in the morning without paying for a full breakfast. The bar area was lovely. I would stay again but be better prepared to pop to the supermarket next door for snacks.

We stayed here one night due to flight delays caused by the national strike.
It is somewhat dated and situated on the outskirts of Verona . It is about 5 km from the centre (10-12 euros).
The rooms are in need of modernisation. To be greeted with a completely lime green bathroom made me smile .
It had WiFi ,AC and tv .
The staff were courteous and booked us in quickly. I have no complaints.
I think I would have chosen something closer to the centre

Very clean, very friendly staff, next to a Supermarket, around the corner from an amazing Pasticceria and a super friendly fruit stand. The rooms are plain, ours looked out onto a garden area. No frills I guess but great shower, bidet and did I mention very clean?

The hotel was a good 20 minutes on a bus from the outskirts of Verona. The parking is not free you have to pay €10 a day to park in their underground car park. The room was dirty near the bed an inch thick along one wall. The bathroom had black mould round the edges and up the tiles., also the shower head was black. There was an inch wide full length of the bath piece of tape stuck to the bottom of the bath with mould growing on the whole length. Four beds in our room left very little room to walk. The bed that we slept in was supposed to be a double but there was a huge ridge in the middle as the two beds which were pushed together were different heights. There was another single bed at the side and one at the bottom. When I asked to change rooms they said they were full up, and the staff were not helpful. The carpet in the corridor was absolutely filthy, it had been beautiful in its day but that must have been 50 years ago. The curtains were hanging down off their hooks and were not connected to the rods to pull or push.

The Maxim Hotel is a large hotel on the outer skirts of Verona in an industrial area. The rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast is tasty and varied.
A word of warning - despite the 1km promised on the website, this hotel is a forty minutes to an hour walk from the centre and is 3.3km. The hotel is quite isolated, so be prepared to take the bus or a taxi if you are unable to walk.
The interior is clean, but the exterior needs some work. Looking out the window you are greeted with dried sick (from the fifth floor) and a load of cigarette butts.
The heating/air con doesn't work so it is very hot. Opening the windows can help with that. There were few plugs and one light didn't work.
The staff are kind and helpful. If you ask for additional hours in the room post check out for an elderly relative, you can be charged up to €450, so be warned.
Overall, an update and a tune up would help the Maxim.

One of the worst hotels we have ever been to. Miles away from anywhere. Reception underground and very dark, dull and oppressive, as was the receptionist we had the pleasure to be greeted by. The room we were put in was disgusting. Smelling of smoke and unbearably hot the decor was out of the shining. The furniture, curtains etc were grim. We complained and were moved to another room which at least had carpet. The purple bathroom was a sight to behold and the smoke yellowed plastic excesories were attractive and the taped on hair dryer tube that fell off was a nice touch. The breakfast selection was ok although the hot food was cold. Some of the staff were nice and we really felt quite sorry when checking out that they had to stay.
Also avoid "Weekend breaks" online booking agency that stuck us in this dive. Never again :(

Somehow rated a 4 star hotel however my experience differed from this. Most staff are exceptionally dismissive, rude and abrupt - on one occasion there were 5 staff behind the reception desk all looking gormless wondering around aimlessly whilst customers were waiting! Breakfast was pretty awful, no order to the seating area so constantly having to squeeze between tables. Fire alarms went off without warning and from the 5th floor which smelt like burning we evacuated down the stairs outside the building and waited out the front of reception, no member of staff came out to tell us what was going on or check everyone was ok, when I went into reception unsure of the situation I managed to get the attention of a member of staff who dismissed me and ignored my concerns nor did they seem willing to check the 5th floor was safe to return to. The manager eventually appeared and checked the floor was safe to return and apologised on behalf of her staff. Recommend to manager that customer service training is implemented.

Ancient hotel where the A/C barely functions. They seem to take pride that they are from the 80s. Might as well say they are from the 19th century. No A/C, camp style cots. Not worth saying a lot more.

The rooms are outdated. Woolen blankets on the bed, matras with springs and most uncomfortable.
Our floor has school kids on it, 4 ****??? Never again!
When we arrived there was no power on the 3rd floor. We biked all day and could not enter our room 😩

Absolutely no charm and NOT easy to get to the city center despite what their website says. YOu can take a cab to the train station & then buses to the arena. But it was a major hassle. Unless you have a car that you want to park, I would not stay here. Front desk person very nice when I arrived exasperated with public transport but if you really want to see verona, stay in the old town.
