I stayed at Hotel Principe for 2 nights. Requested a room with the terrace on high floor. They did honor my requests. Good job!! The room is not big but big enough for a couple. Clean room with a king bed. A mini bar is available with a cost. There is a safe with electronic combination lock for you to use. The bathroom is spacious but a bit dated. The best part of the room in my opinion is the terrace. You will have a small table, 2 chairs and a lawn lounge chair. The view of the Grand Canal is magnificent from the room. Makes you feel like you are in a resort.

The price of the room was fair considering the hotels nightly rate in Venice are not cheap. Also a buffet breakfast is included with the room.

The location of this hotel is wonderful. 3 minutes from the train station. 2 minutes from the ferry station. There are restaurants and grocery stores nearby.

There are 2 restaurants in this hotel. One is a Japanese restaurant. The other one is a seafood Venetian restaurant. Both have good reviews but quite pricey.

This hotel is good for couples and solo travelers.

The walls are thin in this hotel so bring some ears plugs. It was Valentine's day when I stayed there but he didn't last too long, approximately 10 minutes.

This was an enjoyable stay. My room was very small but neat and clean. It served it's purpose for me. I would recommend it as the cost was reasonable, the room was cleaned daily and you can walk five minutes to the train station. This hotel is on the Grand Canal like may others. In the front is a shopping strip and the back are the tables and chairs for the restaurant. The daily breakfast was really good. The staff was pleasant and I would stay here again. One caveat: if transferring to the hotel by water taxi get off at the stop for the train station. I was told to get off at the stop prior (guglie) and was stuck walking a distance with luggage and climbing a bridge. Trust me on this. The hotel is better accessed from the train station.

I’ll start with the positives, the location is fabulous, it’s right on the Grand Canal, a 5 minute walk from the water bus and 10 min walk from the coach and train station. It has a beautiful terrace for drinks on the Grand Canal and a water taxi dock. We ordered a water taxi at reception and it picked us up, which was great fun! The breakfast was average, although you can sit on the beautiful terrace. Staff were friendly and the room was cleaned daily. Lots of very good restaurants and bars within an easy walk. Ok so the negatives! Our room was two beds pushed together, a very small room and freezing! The outlook was a brick wall, however, I hadn’t paid extra for a canal view. The shower was powerful, but soaked the bathroom as there was only half a shower door, with a little half bath. Not the easiest to move in there . There are no irons in the room and you cannot borrow one, you have to pay 8 Euros per item to be ironed! I would recommend taking a travel iron, I wish I had! The room and the hotel in general was very dated, I understand it’s a historical City, but the inside could be brought up to date. Definitely does not deserve a 4 star rating. Overall we had an enjoyable time, but wouldn’t stay there again, but would visit a Venice again as we loved it.

I booked a stay here after staring at it from my room at the Hotel Canal Grande across the canal as I was decided to extend my trip. I agree with other reviewers than the rooms are a bit dated. However, I still give it 5* because the view is really excellent, and I don't know why people would stay in a hotel by the Grand Canal if they're not getting a room with a view. I was there for the view, not the room. And I am very grateful they gave me a room with a balcony, I sat outside most evenings after the sun set, just soaking everything in and watching the vaporettos go by.

Also, this room was like half the price of the hotel I was staying at before, for a BETTER view. Hotels situated on this side of the Grand Canal have a better view over/into the bend of the canal imo (on the other side it kinda cuts off). The location is also very great if you're coming in from the Piazza, only one bridge to cross and then it's a straight path. So sure, the rooms are a bit dated, but people need to consider what you're paying... considering the price I find it's pretty impressive value and would definitely recommend.

Dinner at the Japanese restaurant was also pretty decent, I've had Japanese food a few times in Italy and it's the only one that is passable. That said I think I was charged for 2pax though I was solo, but it's not a big amount. I wish though that they had opened up seating outside, I guess they didn't because of the weather but in Covid situation I think many would like to sit outside even if it's a bit chilly, we can just throw an extra jacket on.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and answered all my questions with warmth.

Also not sure why everyone is complaining about the size of the rooms, I'm not sure they are comparing it to other rooms in the area because most rooms in Venice are this size, it's quite a standard size so it seems an unfair complaint.

Just this evening returned from my first visit to Venice.
Hotel Principe... What can I say..

From arriving via water taxi, we was greeted with such warm welcoming atmosphere from The reaction staff. We was quickly booked into our room without hassle. We had the pent house suite with varanda grand canal views. ( upgraded by the hotel, for reasons out of ours and their control) the rooms where spotless. Bathroom clean, fresh bedding everyday of our stay which was 5 days. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The room was more than adiquet and the bed was comfy for crashing out after our long days.

The restraunt we only ate breakfast as we ate out in the evenings. Breakfast was tasty and consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, meats, cheese, and confectionary. Your basic continental breakfasts. The waiters where helpful and anything we asked for was no trouble for them.

Hotel communal areas where spotless, all staff were pleasent, nothing was to much. Given the out break of the co19 they did there up most best to keep us informed, calm and panic less

The location of the hotel is perfect for the avid walkers who like to get out and about without the need for transport. Hotel is located by the water taxis, 5 mins from the train station and bus routes. We cannot fault the location at all. We enjoyed the walks into San marco square which is a good 20 mins walk from hotel.

Overall we loved the hotel and we will be booking to return and stay here again.

Thank you @ hotel principe for a wonderful stay in your wonderful city.

Wishing you all the best during this difficult time

Venice you have a piece of our Hearts ❤️❤️

We stayed here in April for a couples weekend break. The hotel is in a good location with a lovely terrace onto the canal where you can eat breakfast or have a coffee. The staff are generally good especially Erica. That’s the good bit. However the hotel is very tired and in need of major renovations. We were in room 135 which was the worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. It was extremely small the window faced directly onto a wall, the shower was small with only a curtain. The general decor was grubby and tired. Bins were emptied at 7:30am outside the room too! Breakfast was limited and a large queue for drinks and food, with limited choice. Very disappointing stay and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Erica helped us with places to visit and also offered a bottle of Spumante to apologise for the room which was a nice gesture but nothing could make the room better I’m afraid

My wife and I have been coming to this hotel for the past eight years every Hannukah (December). We always take a room with a canal view, have gotten friendly with the helpful staff, and love the place. Convenient to the Ghetto, to the Santa Lucia Train station will all its vaporetto stops, and to the very lively Rio Terra Lista di Spagna. The breakfast has enough items to keep a kosher-keeping traveller from starving.

I don't understand how this hotel is a 4 star. We got Checked in and found the room was still being cleaned and so had to wait 20mins to get our room. Even then, the room was very aged, dirty, stained and cramped - the floor even had a hole in it. This hotel and its rooms are definitely showing its age and need to be renovated ASAP. The dirty hotel room put us off straight away and we did not want to stay in this room. We asked to be changed/upgraded however the hotel was fully booked out and the check in staff did not care about us at all. The only saving grace about our terrible experience was the nice shower pressure for the hot water and vicinity to the train station. Breakfast was okay - nothing special, could have had more variety in its hot items. Overall would not come back here and it is highly overrated for the price we paid (which was $230 USD for the cheapest room). I would recommend anyone to not book this hotel and find something else

I don't know how this hotel can be a 4-star hotel. We had a room in the fifth floor. The entire floor and room smelled really old and unpleasant. Decor, carpet and furniture was very old including the bathroom/shower. Run down really...Shower not really that clean. Asked for twin beds, was confirmed in booking but up on arrival it was a single big bed with one sheet. Asked to at least get to separate sheets before we went out - when we came back this was not done even though they said the would. On third attempt we got it.

Airconditioning not very good.

The breakfast was very limited in choice and seemed rather cheap and not at all sufficient for a hotel of this "rating". The "juice" was undrinkable, as was the scrambled eggs.

The location is close to the train station/bus station which is nice.

All in all I would not recommend it - there sjould be better options and it looks better in pictures and ratings. I think the more expensive rooms in lower floors are better though. The entire hotel is old and it is clearly visible. Upgrading is necessary if they want to be a real 4 star hotel.

Comfortable hotel in Central location, near to santa Lucia bus station €15 euro roundabout trip on no 5 bus then 29 minute easy walk to hotel or less than 5 minutes from ferrovia water taxi station. Room 405 was spacious, clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast serving hot and cold buffet. Some outside seating on grand canal at breakfast and for reading and watching the activity on the water. Lots of bars, restaurants nearby.

I would contact the hotel directly. I am sure they have accessible rooms with canal view. Breakfast can be taken on the terrace by the canal… look out for seagulls who steal your toast.
