First of all i have to give them props for the vast selection of breakfast items, one of the best I have seen. The location is mediocre but it's right next to the metro station wich is definitely a big plus. The rooms were modern with a comfortable bed, the only downside is they still have box TV. I wouldn't go to their "hang out room" because it's pretty dirty. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. I would recommend to people on a budget.

We recently stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Milan.
Don’t let the location put you off. It’s a 5 minute walk to the metro station and an easy journey to the centre and all other transport links.
Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.
Rooms were basic but more than adequate. Air con worked well.
Only complaint was that the bed was a little uncomfortable but that didn’t spoil our stay.

The Ibis Ca’Granda is in the same modern block as the sister Novotel with the two hotel entrances adjacent. The two hotels form a small Accor Group precinct complete with a small but pleasant garden. There is an underground car park. For those using public transport, the Ca Granda metro station on the new line 5 (purple) is close by. Even closer are a bus stop for bus 42 and stop for the tram route 5. Both of these go direct to the Central station.
The neighbourhood appears to be a nice, quiet residential area.
The room was basic but clean and efficient. A worktop ran the along one side under the window. There was a double bed, wall-mounted TV, corner wardrobe and set of open shelves. WiFi was free and was adequate for my purposes of collecting email although a bit slow at busy times. The en-suite had bath with shower over and a bidet. The hair dryer was next to the brightly lit mirror. My wife would have approved.
The restaurant seemed basic although a colleague reported it as fine. It seemed more like a coffee shop and was really only meant for breakfast.
Instead I popped next door to the Novotel which has a smart, nicely laid out restaurant. I had huge mixed salad and a deep dish of regional tagliatelle, a beer and a coffee for just under EUR 30. Not bad value for a quality restuarant.
The hotel uses magnetic stripe keycards. They may need renewing as I had two failures during a 3 night stay.

Wouldn’t advise anyone to stay here, the reason I’d rate it 2 stars rather than 1 is that the downstairs lobby has recently been renovated and looks nice, while the reception staff are friendly enough.

But, once you’re up at the rooms, there’s an awful smell of stale cigarette smoke, the beds are uncomfortable with just one small thin pillow each, barely enough to raise your head up. Walls are paper thin and loud noises all night, almost impossible to sleep.

Couldn’t get the Wifi or Aircon working, room was far too hot (in March, with the window open).

Bar advertised throughout the hotel but this had previously shut down and signage not updated. Was advised to use bar in another hotel.

Positives - Friendly reception staff, room was clean (albeit dated and in need of renovation) & location was good. Just beside tram & metro stop.

It’s the quality Id expect from a 2 star hostel, with a higher pricepoint.

Covered in bed bug bites. Room changed to what we booked, a superior room but still the same just with a coffee machine. Noisy, windows don’t close and it’s in a very noisy location. Miles away from Milan. Spent most of my time on the subway. Dirty. Dated. Breakfast was just about edible. Scruffy, dirty place and ca granda is just awful. Safe doesn’t work. Phone didn’t work. Tiny twin beds. Avoid!

The room was poor considered it's cost. There's not refrigerator! The bath tube was scratched. And the most important is the noise of elevator. It was terrible, all the night. 180€. I'll never have such terrible experience. The unique Good thing was breackfast. Very good and very good place for breakfast

Location - ideal for commuting to city centre, only a five minute walk to the metro station. Good local restaurants nearby for cheap food.
Hospitality - made to feel welcome, friendly staff and helpful, solved any issues quickly such as our key card not working and gave good advice.
Room - needs updating, what you see is what you get but more than fine if you're not spending much time in the room.
Cleanliness - fresh towels and bedding daily, spot on.

The woman at the front desk - unmistakable and probably the shift manager - became aggressive after I politely requested to change the remote in my room, since it was for the wrong television. She then called an assistant who resorted to colourful language the likes of 'stupid customers always want something', followed by vulgar language in Italian. Spoke to other guests who have been through a similar experience, even having been on the brink of physical altercation.

The woman at the front desk or shift manager made it absolutely clear that paying guests or customera are a nuisence and bother for her, reiterating that 'stupid guests wanted something the whole day'.

Considering that the rooms are an absolute disgrace (stained carpets, mattresses, bathrooms left in deplorable conditions, foul smell all around), it is not difficult to see why paying guests would want to at least have a modicum of sanitary conditions and comfort in a hotel which purports to be 4-stars but in reality only the price tag is (or even exceeds) the 4 star threshold. Everything else is below the standard of what you would find in a student hostel. This hotel just has the audacity to charge you for 4 stars whilst providing literally the most deplorable conditions k have ever witnessed (in any country) for such a hotel.

So unless you want to risk unsanitary conditions and an altercation with the shift managers after charging you money,, unless you want to have bellboys aggressively throw insults at you and embodying a very aggressive demeanour, which seems to be a recurring thing, your best bet is to stay literally anywhere else. Chip in less and go to a proper 4 star hotel in the area or chip in a little more and go to a 5 star hotel - it is barely any difference price wise.

Air-con in room gets turned off at 1am and won't go back on until 9:30am.
It was 32c when we were there, and still very hot at night.
No fans or air-con means we could not sleep.

Also you have to pay for the car park in the hotel next door.

Continental breakfast is €8.5 and is limited with warm milk for the cereal.
