A great hotel right in the centre of town. Large comfy rooms. Staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. There is street parking outside hotel or if you want at a cost secure garage parking. When next in the area will be staying again.

On our tour of northern Italy, we stopped in La Spezia. We chose this location to visit Cinque Terre. We had booked a double room at the CDH Hotel La Spezia for one night from 17.7. to 18.7.22 via an online booking platform. The hotel is very centrally located, 10 mins to the train station and 10 mins to the port, on foot. The shopping street is just around the corner.

The reception by the staff was friendly and helpful. They provided us with all the information about their house and La Spezia. The room was already ready to move into. That is positive.

It is recommended to book a parking space. This costs 12 euros per night. There is a hotel-owned garage, which is not far away. You can also park in front of the hotel, free of charge if there is space.

The room is functionally furnished and has everything you need. The room size was ok for us. The bathroom is a bit small but ok. The room is clean.

The breakfast was very good for this class of hotel. Everything you could wish for was available. Enough space, fresh products etc. Even freshly squeezed orange juice.

We can recommend the CDH Hotel La Spezia for 1 to 3 nights.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel which is within walking distance of the port and train station. The center with restaurants is very close. The staff is very friendly. Several people at reception speak French very well, and can provide good advice for information, visits, etc.
The bedding is comfortable.
Don't expect to have a good view from the room windows. The description is clear on this subject: it is a hotel located in the center of the city, with all the advantages associated with this location. Free parking for a few cars is available in front of the hotel, if there is space. We therefore recommend reserving a garage for €12 for 24 hours, it is located not far from the hotel. This price is very reasonable, given the narrow streets and the limited parking spaces available.
The buffet breakfast is plentiful and varied, there is something for everyone!
We recommend !

We stayed in this property in La Spezia for 4 days at the turn of August.
Regarding the location we can say that it is very central but the alleys in which it is located are very dark in the evening with particular traffic.
The parking available at the facility includes some free spaces in front of the entrance, which cannot be booked and therefore impossible to use, especially in high season. The structure offers covered parking on several floors, which can be booked and paid for (with a surcharge of €12 per night) 200 meters from the structure. Here you can park in a narrow and uncomfortable parking space, the only positive note is that at least there is an elevator.
Inside the hotel, however, there is a working lift that takes 5 to 10 minutes to arrive, objectively it is so slow that queues are created on the various floors.
We chose the breakfast included option but there are not enough tables for all guests so we are often asked to wait outside in line for a table to become available (let's remember that we are talking about a 4 star hotel). Also a small note to all those dairy products whose cold chain has been broken several times (see yoghurts kept out of the fridge for hours).
The spaces of the rooms are average, the air conditioning works without problems but be prepared to listen to everything that happens outside your room as the soundproofing is almost non-existent (we were on the floor below the reception which is open 24 hours, there we were woken up by the sound of the receptionists' footsteps and luggage in the middle of the night).
We booked through an agency to which we presented the problem after the first night and which immediately prepared to call the hotel, the hotel communicated that they would try to solve the problem with the possibility of moving us to another room, in reality we were not nothing was ever proposed.
We are not sure about the safety factor, the secondary entrance (the one overlooking the alley) is easily circumvented by anyone, among other things in the evening you often find the door completely wide open. In practice, anyone can easily enter.
We have tried to be as precise and objective as possible in this review, both for the people who intend to stay in this facility and for those who work there, since at the time of check out we were not even asked how we had been.
Last note goes to the reception staff who, unlike the staff who take care of cleaning or breakfast, are incredibly rude, never a smile, a question or help, leaving aside the fact that they don't even say hello when you enter or enter. leaves the facility.

This hotel, perched several storeys above the main food and shopping area of La Spezia, has direct access from your room to street level via the hotel lifts, which was a plus.

Basic and efficient, more like a business hotel, the rooms, generous in size for the family room we booked, were tired and could do with an interior update. The toilet was small and shower a bit cramped, in particular.

But it does have a decent spread for breakfast and a very good cup of cappuccino. The cakes and pastries were also particularly generous for a breakfast buffet.

Top tip: you can get their good cup of coffee 24/7 from the receptionist - they have the machine at the bar in the lobby!

The hotel location is great, 10 minutes walk from the central station, 5 minutes walk from the ferry station. However, the rooms are very uncomfortable, eveything can be heard from the other rooms, we woke up each night because of our neighbour’s toilet flush or shower, and we heard every single word from him.
The breakfast is very weak. The coffee is not good, even the coffee you order from the kitchen.
Very overpriced. This hotel is not a 4-star, maximum 3.

Large, welcoming and fairly clean room
the small bathroom, with the toilet 20cm from the shower cubicle, probably whoever placed the sanitary fixtures didn't have legs. TV next to the bed particularly uncomfortable.
Unfortunately the location, although a stone's throw from the centre, penalizes the structure with few parking spaces in front and a garage 300m away with very narrow garages.
On the 7 floors there is only one lift, during peak hours the wait is interminable.
My room on the top floor, very noisy I think due to the proximity of the air conditioning systems, can be heard a lot at night.

We were really happy with our stay in the CDH hotel. It’s a perfect location for visiting the Cinque Terre…. Just 10 min walk to the station. We had a big room, admittedly not an overly big bathroom. The breakfasts were varied and plentiful and constantly being refreshed - really enjoyed the amount of choice. There wasn’t tea and coffee facilities in the room, but staff on reception always happily made us drinks whenever we requested them. All the hotel staff were very good, efficient and friendly.

the hotel needs a fixer upper…the washbasin was unstuck from the wall…the (old ?) spring mattress gave me trouble to sleep, the airco only provided hot air, because of which the window had to be opened, with a lot of street noise (voices) as a result.

the breakfast is extensive, but not very original…and the standard-coffee was horrible. nobody explained to us that cappucino could be ordered upon special request.

the location of the hotel is good, right next to the old center of La Spezia.

the staff is nice and helpful

the garage of the hotel is quite a distance away, with relatively small spaces

We stayed there for two nights so that we could take a comfortable boat ride to Cinque Terre.
The approach to the hotel is not in the ZTL zone and if possible you can park for free in front of the hotel.
The reception is on this level of the approach, on the 5th floor. Since La Spezia is very steep, all the other hotel rooms are down to exit zero at the lift. From there you are immediately in the main shopping area and in a leisurely 10 minutes you can reach the harbor. The location is perfect.
Unfortunately the hotel itself is in need of renovation. The two doors to our hotel room looked as if they had already been forced open. There are tiles throughout the room. Our refrigerator didn't work. The bathroom was small and outdated.
The breakfast room resembled a waiting room.
If the hotel were renovated, it would definitely be four stars, but this time it's more like three stars.
The positive thing about the hotel:
The staff at the reception, but also at breakfast, were very friendly and on the ball. The breakfast was sufficient, and there were plenty of sweet treats for those with a sweet tooth!
The location was very good.

Hi Rose, The leaning tower is of course in Pisa. There are plenty of trains from Le Spezia to Pisa, I think the journey time is about 90 minutes. Pisa is a nice city with loads of restaurants near the leaning tower. I hope you enjoy your trip. Ian
