We chose this hotel, mostly because it was the only affordable accommodation in Cinque Terre. It is located in Riomaggiore, the first village after La Spezia (also meaning you have to pay surcharge if going by train.) The hotel is located in the upper parts of the village, after quite a steep slope, but also away from the "downtown" bustle. It is quiet up there with nice views. The room was simple but sufficient, everything was ok, the bathroom, the bed. Breakfast was decent, not that "western-hotel with all you can eat", but wouldn't be proper in Italy anyway. The host (Enrico?) was very kind and helpful, recommending us paths to walk around and have more magnificent views over Cinque Terre.

Stayed here for five days at the end of June. Really glad I stayed here as it was very safe and Riomaggiore is a nice little town. Owner Enrico was super friendly and helpful. I was traveling solo and wanted to stay somewhere convenient. His instructions on how to get to hotel were pretty clear. The hotel is towards the back of the town, up on a steep hill. Bringing luggage kind of sucks but at least you’re burning calories for your next meal! The hotel itself is small but feels cozy. The bed mattress is a bit lumpy and the shower is a bit small but overall it’s comfortable. Shower pressure was great and rooms were clean. Breakfast every day was nice, usually croissants and some fruit and yogurt and cold cuts. Enrico was very helpful with tips on where to go and what to do. I’m very glad I stayed here because he gave me advice on how to see the best part of the Cinque Terre hike (take the morning bus outside hotel to Volastra and then hike across and down all the way to Corniglia). This hike was indeed breathtaking and I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed it as much going up the other way (Corniglia is 400 steps up from the train station and the hike up is steep!). Riomaggiore was also beautiful to walk around every evening after most of the daytrippers left and it’s an easy ferry ride away from Porto Venere (worth going to as it’s also very pretty and more quiet). To get to hotel, once you get off the train station, turn right towards the pedestrian tunnel. Right Before the tunnel there is an elevator which you can take up w your luggage. Then make a right and walk along the gorgeous promenade above the sea. Eventually this path (if you follow it thru town past the church in the square) will merge with the main road of town (which is a steep incline up after you pass thru the pedestrian tunnel). Then you continue on this road past the road blockers that monitors cars coming into town and the hotel is a like a short walk (but steep) up the road—like a few minutes.

We were originally planning to book an Airbnb for our visit to Cinque Terre, but then came across Locanda del Sole.

A big plus is that it has its own parking and Enrico was very efficient making arrangements in advance. He was also very helpful recommending places to eat and even a little trek route.

The rooms are simple, but spacious. Breakfast was a simple continental affair, but enough to set us up for the day.

The extra bed we asked for was very uncomfortable, but Enrico changed it for the second night, which was appreciated.

Like most hotels and seaside resorts in the Mediterranean area, the hotel isn’t fancy but simple, clean and comfortable. Enough space for two, nice patio outside, nice breakfast very helpful proprietor and you are staying in the Cinque Terre area at a reasonable price. Car parking by the hotel. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Hotel del Sole for two nights, and had a fantastic experience. On the way there we were in a traffic jam that added nearly 4 hours (!!!) to our estimated travel time, so we arrived late at night. The host, Enrico, was extremely kind and stayed to wait for us even though check in ended at 19:00. Throughout our stay he was kind and helpful as well, and gave us good tips regarding the trains and public transport, and recommended us beautiful trails and viewpoints to get the best out of our stay in Cinque Terre.
The hotel was super nice. Very clean, comfortable bed, spacious, with a private terrace to enjoy the view from. The breakfast served was good, with not solely sweet things to choose from.
All in all, if I happen to visit Riomaggiore again, I know where I’ll be staying!

Great spot, we stayed for 4 nights. Enrico was very helpfull with tips and advice, I'd advise you to check with him on what to buy re the trek or train cards as he can get a discount rate due to their eco friendly business, you still need to buy on line (which can be confusing on your phn). We bought a 3 day train pass which saved us the hassel of individual tickets (this also gets you free toilet use at train station).
....in saying that, no one ever checked our train ticket on the train but they do pull the odd one aside to catch them out....'ride' your luck I suppose.

The owner really treats the hotel like it's home, and you're guest. He goes out of his way to be helpful on ur day trips, general info of the area, and anything else you might need during your stay. It's a small business, and it sure feels like it. It has the warmth and invitation of a home away from home. Beautiful breakfast spread and very roomy clean rooms. Gorgeous patios you can watch the sunset from. I would go back to this place in a heart beat! We traveled for 3 weeks in Europe, and this was by far the best place we stayed at. Just great!

There is no way you'll find better accommodations on Riomaggiore than here. The rooms are sparkling clean and the daily breakfast is an added delight. The owners are as hands on as anyone could possibly be. If you have a problem tell them and it will not be a problem anymore! The only warning I'll give is be in descent shape because there's a nice size hill and steps that need to be conquered. That's a plus actually because there are alot of carbs that need to be shed from the great cuisine served at 5Terre

Yes on breakfast, with good American coffee. Parking is right in front of the hotel, but reserve ahead by emailing Enrico. Very few small spaces so no room for a large vehicle. Plus there is little public parking in Rio Maggiore.

Hola! Saludos
