The hotel has an elevator but there are steps to get into the hotel ..they will help you with your luggage .
There is a lovely rooftop terrace ..and most rooms come with balconies. The staff is warm and engaging..we loved Monterosso and if we ever came back we wouldn’t hesitate to book again!
The hotel itself is very conveniently located near the main square of old Monterosso and the beach. Also, close to bars, restaurants and shops. The breakfast buffet each morning was delightful. The women preparing and serving were so gracious and very proud of the wonderful cakes they had made fresh each day. The house cleaning staff were kind and gracious. The room itself was small but clean. The bed blankets/linens very minimalist, but adequate. The bathroom was clean (yet quite a bit of mold in the shower). The stay was fine.
I wish them well and believe it could be excellent with a few changes. However, I wouldn’t want to mislead anyone by giving it an excellent ranking, like I’ve seen on Trip Advisor.
Note: We were practically the only hikers that day (late October). We hear that the trails get very crowded during high season. Try to go in the fall when the temperatures are mild and the crowds are gone!
Staff are more than willing to recommend & reserve restaurants and bring drinks from the bar to your room - some of which have a nice big terrace with sun loungers.
The hotel is accredited to an eco tourism scheme, so can issue heavily discounted tickets for the Cinque Terra hiking routes and for the trains.
There’s a large roof terrace, well equipped with sun loungers.
Our room had a lovely balcony, though there was no shade, with distant sea views through the buildings. There was also a roof top terrace. Our room was large and the decor had more than a touch of interior design. Sadly there was nowhere to have breakfast outside and the room hadn't been updated like the bedrooms.
Beds were adequate, but the towels felt like sandpaper. The shower was also VERY small (but I guess that didn't make much a difference since I wanted to get out as soon as possible because of the smell).
Some of the positives... The location was good, service was friendly, there's no noise from the outside, and there's a beautiful patio and rooftop (nice view of the sea from the rooftop).
Breakfast looked very good (I have dietary restrictions so couldn't eat it).
I will not be returning.
"Stairs to enter. If an issue, you may want to talk to staff. The front desk closes at midnight although you can get in after hours. "Read full review
