Hotel's Favourite
Porto Roca is probably the best place to stay in Cinque Terre. The setting is on top of a cliff at a location that is right on the trail to the other villages, and the view of Monterosso and the Mediterranean is perfect. We decided to visit during "shoulder season" so the weather would be cooler for hiking and the crowds wouldn't be so large. Both were true. We did have a couple days with occasional rain, but the sunny days were great to hike the entire trail from Riomaggiore to Monterosso (we trained to Rio to start). The hike is more rigorous than you'd expect, but we did it at age 68! The staff at this hotel was great and helpful, and the restaurant was really good. The waiters were so helpful and congenial. At the desk, we got extra help from Giuliano, who spend an hour with us getting trail passes and train tix. We had a second floor ocean view room (about 500E per night), which was surprisingly basic with no closet (a rod to hang clothes above the side bureau), plastic cups and instant coffee. The worse was our last night when it got windy outside. We were situated below a third floor balcony and the patio furniture and other things blew around above us, making noise all night. Or, it could have been something else going on and we were afraid to ask! Luckily we were up all night so we could leave at 630am to take a train back to Firenze. Overall, this hotel is great if you're specific about room choice, and just what you would want for a visit to Cinque Terre.

Well don’t know where to start !
From the start they were very helpful .
We were in Florence and their was a train strike .
Front desk manager helped arrange a car service to pick us up in Florence.
I see why they get so many return guest .
Front desk is helpful and nice all of them .
The food at the restaurant and staff was very good .
The breakfast buffet has so many choices
Don’t know how they can afford to give so many choices .
It seems the staff works 24/ 7
Take care of them , yes they do like tips
They are very happy when you tip them .
The pool bar was very nice
Pool was very clean so relaxing .
The view is something.
Andrea was the best.
Everyone was very nice
Housekeeping
Shuttle driver
General Manager
We had no problem
Getting a shuttle
We did walk down the hill one day
Walking up was to much for us
We took a shuttle .
The rooms all
Have a view , we had patio room
One night we loved the place so much
We stayed another night
All they had was a suite .
The suite was very large
Big shower
Big bed
Couch bed
Robes
Big patio
Lounge chairs
Table and chairs
Just another note
Before we left the USA
I asked an Italian friend what can we bring with us to give away as a token of appreciation
Plus money of course .
Well since we live in
Florida
I got cheap key chains and magnets and
T- shirts .
Doesn’t take up much room.
People loved it
All over Florence and
This area it put a smile on people faces .

This is by far the best place to stay in Cinque Terre, look no further.
Nice hotel, staff is SUPERB, reception is so nice, big smile, we were received by Carolina, she is from Peru, and explained all so nice, gave me tips for the hiking, etc always with a big smile.
The Pool has the most beautiful views of the ocean in front of you, endless pool, nice bar. Hotel is made of rock and is so nice and pretty.
If driving to the hotel since you cant get there, you have to park in town and the hotel will pick you up. Don't park where the hotel tells you to park, which is the public park, use a private parking on your right had going to Monterroso al mare with a Lady by the name of Bruna, in in her house and it hold probably 20 or 30 cars, is cheaper, much cheaper and better. the hotel picks you up there since everybody seems to know Bruna.
Breakfast at the restaurant with amazing views and service.
Dinner at the same restaurant is expensive, we only did it once, since you can eat better and cheaper in town and the walk up the small hill to the hotel, it usually takes 20 minutes and is a beautiful walk
Would go back

Perched high on a cliff overlooking the sea, the views from this hotel are gorgeous. We are a relatively fit group, but the steep road up to the hotel is not a walk for everyone. We enjoyed the climb but there is a shuttle available for others who may not. We had rooms on the first and top floors and would recommend the top floor for its more modern rooms and private verandas with lounge chairs. The rooms and linens were very clean. We disagree with a previous review. We found the front desk staff to be helpful and pleasant. The pool even had a very attentive life guard/attendant who clearly cared about doing a good job. We enjoyed the full American-style breakfast buffet every morning. We found the breakfast staff to be attentive. We traveled with minimal luggage and used the laundry service, which did a superior job. There is a complimentary pickup from the train station to the hotel. The beautiful trail from Monterosso to Vernazza conveniently starts at this hotel. The 5 in our party highly recommend a stay here!

We stayed at Porto Roca for 3 nights. We had a sea view balcony room which I highly recommend. The views from the balcony, the restaurant, the grounds and the pool are beautiful. The staff was very helpful, friendly and nice. It was great to meet Manny who was very patient and quick at answering all my random questions before we left for Italy. I felt like I was in a high class hotel of years past where everyone tries to make your stay perfect. It is on a hill but if you don't want to walk they will drive you up or down anytime of the day or night. The water at the beach is sparkling clean and we enjoyed swimming, jumping off the rocks and exploring the caves. We enjoyed our stay immensely!

We stayed several nights at this hotel. Had a fabulous 3rd floor room with our own balcony. The breakfast was awesome- they have everything you could ask for including eggs and bacon, along with more native dishes. The pool was great, we especially liked to go after a day of hiking and enjoy an aperitivo. The chairs were spread out so people weren't on top of one another. Many at the desk was great with dinner reservations and recommendations. He also talked us through the hiking options. Nothing was crowded (cruise ships have not started again yet) and the hiking trail is right next to hotel. Yes, the trail to hotel is steep, but it takes less than 5 minutes to get up there so it's not too long. Definitely take the hotel taxi service when you have your luggage. We will stay here again. Fabulous place with great service!

The most beautiful thing about this structure is the panorama, the wonderful and breathtaking view.
The small room, the toilet behind the bathroom door does not allow the door to be opened if a person is sitting inside (otherwise there is a risk of a knock)
All the restaurant staff are wonderful, helpful, smiling, professional and above all compact, truly a large cohesive group that works efficiently to make customers feel good, from the youngest to the oldest, all the staff are truly exceptional!
Too bad I can't say the same about the reception.
Excluding Tommaso, kind and polite.
I sent 3 emails before my arrival which were not read, I had sent the documents to facilitate check in, but nothing.
I asked to see the paper menu at reception and was told to look at it on the website 😳.
It is very unfair to hear foreign customers speak badly of in Italian, out of place also given the location.
Excellent beach use service!
Furthermore, the shuttle service is carried out by hysterical, nervous taxi drivers who constantly complain, who slam your suitcases in a bad way, not a good experience.

Communication with the reception staff was fantastic. Our group of 6 were well cared for by Porto Roca. The location sits at the far end of Monterosso up a cliff and a taxi from the train station is complimentary. I am impressed the taxi was able to squeeze through the walking path to the hotel. Were were greeted and bags carried to our rooms The rooms are small; however, we did not spend much time in the rooms other than to sleep. The air conditioning works well. The Hotel grounds are beautiful! The pool looks out over the sea. The bar staff accommodated our needs. There are plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas, towels, and a hot tub. The hotel. has a specified beach area with chairs and umbrellas. \ Breakfast was plentiful with a view of the sea under a covered open air terrace. The food met our needs and was well prepared.
Our only caveat was dinner on the Terrace. The food was not as good as we hoped or expected. A few, not all, wait staff seemed ready for the season to be over. The view spectacular, the food not so much. Better options are in the city establishments.
Overall, Porto Roca is off the beaten path and away from the crowds and city! We would definitely return to this hotel in the future

As a ‘Standard Room’ you get a stone wall and no visibility to even the sky. The room lacks any sort of thoughtful decor which could SO easily make this a tiny bit more pleasant. I have travelled quite a bit and this is likely the worst room I have ever stayed in.
The bathroom was up to date. However, there is no safety bar in the shower which has a really big step up and into. Floor of the shower is very very slippery. Overall, an extremely unsafe situation.
The restaurant staff was pretty abrupt, we appeared at 7:30 (opening time of dinner) to a completely empty large dining room and we were sternly told we should have had a reservation. By the time we finished and left there were maybe 4 or 5 other tables with guests that had arrived.
The positives: Pool Bar staff and food was great, very relaxing and enjoyable. Also, the location of this hotel is amazing with beautiful outdoor spaces and amazing views of the ocean. Those 2 things warrant the 2 stars I am giving.

We managed to get away for a week at this great hotel just after lockdown and before Italy went into the red zone. It was a great time to visit as the Cinque Terre villages and hiking trails were nowhere near as busy as they would normally be. Most places were covid aware, especially the hotel, masks had to be worn everwhere and we felt quite safe.
The hotel is superb, staff were all very friendly and efficient, the pool and bar and pizzas were great, fantastic balcony sea views, we were half board and the restaurant did not disappoint, fabulous food and wines to match, service was excellent, would thoroughly recommend this above going down into town to dine.
Rooms a little on the small size but acceptable in this homely 42 room hotel.
Breakfast was a bit busy with queues so we avoided it as we wanted to get out early onto the hiking trails.
All in all a great trip and I would highly recommend this superb hotel.

The beach is close, bout 5 min walk down the hill... it's the walk back up the hill the is a bit strenuous and may take a little longer to get back :)
It is a short walk down the hill from the hotel, the ticket office is there as well... it's 10-15min depending if you stop at the shops on the way : )
I am not sure bout the ping pong table but you can email the hotel and they are prompt with their replies. They do have a nice bar by the lobby and their restaurant is nice too. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone!
There is a nice trail right at the hotel that will take you to the next town, it's about 1.5 mils but can be a bit strenuous in parts but you can go at your own pace and you get to meet nice people along the way.
