We absolutely loved our stay at Arpaiu! Tatiana is the sweetest and best hostess and made our stay incredible! The rooms have gorgeous window views and we LOVED the terrace. From drinking our morning coffee or watching the sunset out over the water - it was such a gift! We can’t wait to go back!

Once we found it everything was good the co-owner and lady who cleans does a fantastic job. There is a common area for all visitors to use a deck with chairs lounges espresso coffee blankets with fantastic views could not be beat. We stayed in the family room which was a really nice rock enclosure spacious comfortable beds with kitchenette and huge stone shower with your own access door. The other rooms had windows with a view very nice and clean the family room does not have windows but spacious and enjoyed lounging on the deck daily. Would definitely stay here again

We so much enjoyed our stay! After a little issue finding the place (we came by car and weren't sure where to park. Most folks come by train and don't have an issue) we were warmly greeted by Tatyana and Paulo and assisted with parking and our luggage. (cell signal is spotty, so get as much detailed information beforehand as possible). Our room was not large, but clean. Simply appointed, there was bottled water, candy, and a bottle of sparkling wine for our sunset toast on the balcony upstairs. The house was not full of guests, though the other family there was of no disturbance to us, and we all enjoyed the balcony together at times. While this is a simple, no-fuss accommodation, the views and hospitality make up for any amenity you may feel it lacks. Remember, you're in the middle of a quaint village, living amongst people who have lived in this village for decades. Respect to them, and an attitude of simple living, will ensure your time here is pleasurable. We opted for the breakfast, and were not disappointed. Tatyana served a traditional fare and plenty of hot coffee and juice. We were free to come and go at will, and leave our bags on check-out day until we were ready to leave the town. We would definitely return for another visit at Arpaiu. (There are many stairs and hills to climb. Ability to climb MUST be taken into consideration before booking)

I have to start by saying that I have decided to book this place for the reviews about the terrace, and they were all right ... the terrace view is amazing. The place is overall nice and cozy, it offers you the minimum things you need for a comfortable stay and it is very clean. Unfortunately I think they should improve the service side. The attitude of the owners was pretty cold, they just sent a standard email before arriving there, without any further replies. If you are lucky enough, you can find the cleaning girl (which was very friendly) when you arrive there, which makes things much easier to understand which one is your room, how to get to the terrace and how you can order breakfast. Otherwise you are pretty much on your own. I have tried to contact the owners after the trip via Booking / email because I forgot something in the room and I was willing to cover all necessary costs to have it sent back to me. But I got no reply, not even something like "sorry, we haven't found anything in the room" or "sorry, we can't do this service for you" (any reply would have been better than nothing). I think they know that they have a very nice terrace, for which tourists will continue to book their room anyways (even if the price is a bit higher than the average in Manarola) so they do not really care about details like customer experience.

We booked a room there but when we arrived the owner told us he was full but he can offer us a room in "the hut" which was about 20 minutes from the actual hotel. Since we already paid and the town seemed to be quite full we accept but it was horrible. The hut was in the middle of nowhere, smelled like mould and insect poison (who knows what lived there) and had none of the amenities promised on the booking platform. When we asked to owner to at least give us a discount (we paid the price for the nice room at the actual hotel with seaview) he became really rude and told us there is nothing he can do as we had paid already. Totally unacceptable!

The only positive point about the room was the view. It had a wonderful view of the ocean and the mountain.

Unfortunately that's where the positives end. The room is incredibly cramped it's difficult to find a place for your luggage in the room. Secondly, the walls are paper thin: you can hear people breathing as they stomp past your room even when your door is closed. There is a strange common area upstairs which is poorly outfitted (no water/taps so you need to carry the jug back to your room to get water and then walk back upstairs). The noise from the common area travels down to your room so if you happen to have "house mates" who are loud or even slightly so the banging and slamming of doors will wake you up during the night.

There's a lack of welcoming with the place. Although not a hotel it would be appreciated if there could be some small tokens of gratitudes like biscuits or similar to welcome guests. A cold welcome.

Hotel Arpaiu is the best place in Manarola to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of this extraordinary place and enjoy its beauty. Arpaiu will make your holiday unforgettable not only thanks to the comfortable accommodation in cozy and clean rooms, the beautiful views of the sea and the village from the terrace, but above all thanks to the special treatment reserved for each guest. The owners of this place create an atmosphere of cordiality and care. You will always be well fed, they will offer you a cup of coffee, help you with everything you need for the beach and make you feel at home. Consiglio vivamente questo posto!

We had just one night to spend in Manarola, and selected Arpaiu for its location and intimate size. We were delighted with our rooms. They were spotless and comfortable. And the rooftop area, open to all guests, was spectacular. We knew it would be a "hike" up the hill from the train station. It was a bit difficult to communicate with the owners in advance, but once we found it, and entered with the door code provided, we found our names affixed to the doors of our rooms (two). We particularly enjoyed the rooftop area at night overlooking the Mediterranean, and in the morning. The hostess at breakfast time was very helpful.

Be advised bag service is $10 per bag and or backpack. It adds up quick. Total rip off. They don’t disclose the price on the service. You have to ask. I feel (my opinion) the property owner is getting kickbacks on the bag service. They make it seem as if it’s a value add service. Beds are ok. Air conditioning unit did not work. Got very warm. No windows in one of the rooms.

We had a wonderful time in this cliff-side home with one of the most spectacular views in the world. The hostess, Tatyana, was a very kind and joyful woman. We enjoyed chatting with her and she made a terrific breakfast for us - ham, cheese, croissants with pistachio and chocolate cream, yogurt with blueberries, raspberries and black berries. We will definitely return to Arpaiu. We hope Tatyana is here when we come next time! She was simply delightful.

Hi Stewart, It is about 5-8 mins walk from the station and there are two ways to approach Arpaiu. One does involves a lot of steps and the second there is a path which we found once we arrived, if you turn left when you leave the front door it takes you to the Main Street. We loved staying there because the view from our room and top terrace is one of the best you can get. Note though there is no kitchen but your room will have a small fridge.

Would you suggest any room? Is the terrace balcony attached to 1 room?

Not all rooms have terraces. Ours had 2 'Juliet' windows. Ours was the 'Ondina studio'. So if you want a balcony, you don't want that one!

Manarola is pretty small. As you explore you will see the few options that are available. Can't remember the name but enjoyed breakfast down by the water.

Trish, you need to search Arpaiu-Odeyo-Sas and book a room that way. You can search thru the Trip Advisor site or other search engines.
