This hotel is every bit as lovely as it appears on its website, Great location, close to cafes and restaurants yet safe and peaceful with a wonderful garden to relax in. Very friendly staff who were kind enough to let me practise my Italian. Thank you! Simple but comfortable room with one of the best showers I have had in a long time, Good breakfast. I will definitely be back.

Trastevere is a neighborhood across the Tiber from the center of Rome. It is largely residential and has nice restautants, winding narrow streets, interesting piazzas. In the midst of this bustling neighborhood is a pleasant surprise: the Hotel Santa Maria. It is a peaceful, quiet refuge from a city that is always alive with activity. All of its rooms front onto open-air interior courtyards with tables for outside drinks and snacks. There is also a quiet rooftop lounge. The rooms are clean, tastefully decorated but not pretentious. The staff is friendly and helpful. The site is secured by a wrought iron gate and, though surrounded by the city, it is a place to relax. I have been to Rome a number of times and stayed in many parts of the city. Now that I have stayed at the Hotel Santa Maria, I doubt I would consider staying anywhere else.

Booked this hotel based on the strength of the reviews and a desire to stay in Trastavere. It was a wondeful experience, loved the hotel staff and it was a beautiful oasis in the heart of a busy Roman district. Close to excellent restaurants and bars and charming streets.

It is like a small piece of paradise / an oasis in the middle of Trastevere. Quiet and beautiful with lemon bushes and orange trees in the yard. The service is great and staff fantastic. Delicious breakfast and artistic cappuccinos ❤️ I can highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located in the heart of the very busy Trastevere district but as soon as you walk through the gates you enter an oasis of peace and tranquility. The rooms are located around courtyards where you can enjoy a drink and a Happy Hour snack in the shade of orange trees. There is also a roof terrace perfect for relaxing in the sunshine after a busy day sightseeing. All the main sites of Rome are within a comfortable walking distance and there are many restaurants a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel staff were, without exception, so friendly and helpful at all times which made our stay one of my most enjoyable experiences in any city. I highly recommend Hotel Santa Maria to any future travellers to the beautiful city of Rome.
