Neighbourhood
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in March for a quick city break. The location is really good, within walking distance of all the major sights. It is also literally 5 minutes walk from Termini station, which is great for the airport with direct trains every 20 minutes, so

A short walk from Termini stn, a step from Piazza Republica. We were upgrade for a junior suite which was amazing. Breakfast was rich and the dining room is facing a cute inner patio. The design is old-fashioned fancy, full of character.

This hotel was beautiful. We had a small room with a double bed and it was more than enough room for us. There was a beautiful chandelier and a good size bathroom. We opened the shutters to a beautiful view of the historical buildings and street below. The staff were very

I am sorry I had never used the hop on & hop off bus, sometimes walking to the attractions thru local streets will gave you some surprise & hidden gem that locals frequent

The hop on hop off bus from the area near the hotel to the Vatican is anywhere from 20-30 minutes. Actually, it's much closer than that, but the bus goes and stops, goes and stops, goes and stops and the stops take longer depending on the amount of tourists getting on and off the bus and also if any tourists are having issues with their tickets properly scanning (like we did). However, staff will politely advise you to sit and relax and enjoy the fresh air and scenery! LOL.

As above, except for the Vatican, which is most easily reached by metro. The Repubblica metro stop, two minutes from the hotel, was closed last weekend when I was there but the Termini station metro is only a 10 minute walk away. Cost is 1.50 euro each way and the journey is 6 stops and takes about 10 minutes.

We walked to the Colosseum and it took about 20 minutes. Be advised that Repubblica station is approximately 50-100 yards from the hotel. We walked because Repubblica station was closed during renovation. Taxis in Rome can get expensive, therefore you're better off taking the metro or bus, which is very easy to use if you just take a little time to look at a map and get a general idea of how it works. I believe an all day public transit pass is 7Euro and they get cheaper for 48 hours, 3 days, week, etc. Taxi will be probably 15Euro one way for a close distance.
