"Palazzo Manfredi is a magnificent historic villa that today serves as five-star hotel offering the tradition and warm hospitality of the Counts Manfredi. Every detail is a family jewel, from the spectacular view of the Colosseum, to the courtesy of our staff, the classic and contemporary elegance of the decor, and our sophisticated restaurant on one of Rome's most romantic terraces. History is on our doorstep, but true luxury is being part of a great family's history."

We stayed at Hotel Palazzo Manfredi in Rome over Christmas. I expected top-notch stuff from a 5-star place, but got let down big time. The concierge couldn’t get us tours to the Colosseum or Vatican. I mean, it’s Rome, and the Colosseum was right there!! That’s pretty basic stuff for a fancy hotel. Room and stuff were okay, but this was a major bummer. Not cool for a place that’s supposed to be all about service. For future guests: if you're looking for tours I highly recommend you book in advance to avoid situations like this. You cannot rely on them to secure ANY spots

Response from Bruno Papaleo, General Manager at Hotel Palazzo Manfredi – Small Luxury Hotels of the World
Responded 29 Jan 2024
Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your review following your recent stay with us at Palazzo Manfredi. I am very disappointed to read of such a negative experience in light of the incredible praise our Concierge Team regularly receives. I am sorry to understand that you did not manage to visit the most important site in the world, such as the Colosseum and I am puzzled that we allegedly could not accommodate your request. While reviewing all your pre-stay communication and all the interaction with our Concierge Desk, it appears that we have suggested several times to reserve the tours in advance due to the high demand. Not only do we organize and arrange a large number of tours in Rome but also in all the major attractions in Italy. I sincerely hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Rome and perhaps have the possibility to plan exclusive and unique tours during your stay. Best regards Bruno Papaleo Managing Director Manfredi Fine Hotels Collection

The truth is the so called “five star” hotel (sic) where I stayed has a bar and disco downstairs from the suites which have the colosseum views, mine included. Genius business move right there 🤯 so each night until around 4am I was hardly able to get any sleep. Also I’m not sure if it’s in their culture to generally scream, yell, throw constant emotional fits, smoke in public and be overly loud and aggressive but I found all this to be highly infuriating. I found no pleasure in being like a zombie most of the time, trying to navigate a dirty city full of rude locals with horrible customer service. Oh by the way the suite is $2000 a night, and staff have no problem harassing you constantly to pay everything in cash for some reason, even the car pickup to the airport couldn’t just be billed to my room like everywhere else but I had to go to an ATM and get cash to pay them on the spot for a service that was due to take place 4 days later (upon check out). If I have to run to the ATM for every little thing, what is the room deposit for then? How fvcking annoying. Oh, and upon check out they sent me an inferior car type, even though they made me pay through the nose for a so called Mercedes s class which never materialized. When I asked they simply said it’s not their problem. Well f you. My wallet and me will never see you again, your pathetic so called business is no longer MY problem 🤬 you have no idea how to handle high value clients thus I won’t be one. Zero value for money. I can’t stand Rome, and won’t be back.

Dear Ms. Olivia, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay. We always take our guests’ opinions in a very considerate manner, but we regret to learn about your negative experience here in Rome. We understand you did not feel comfortable in our city and were mistreated in the other properties you stayed in before arriving at our hotel, as you mentioned on check-in. We furthermore are sorry to hear you could not sleep due to heavy noise during the night, wonder how you identified the noise coming from our cocktail bar, as it closes at 1:00 am and not in the early morning hours as you mentioned in your shared experience. Regarding your car pick-up, we regret that you did not simply choose the option to put the service on your room bill, although it was specified in the confirmation that in this case there would be a small VAT surcharge. Of course, our guests can choose to pay by cash or credit card for their requested services, we are sorry you were confused on your arrival with the reserved transportation service policies. In any case, we hope you might have the opportunity to visit the Eternal City again in the future to better appreciate the wonderful culture and services our city offers. Sincerely, Bruno Papaleo Managing Director Manfredi Fine Hotels Collection

My stay at the HOTEL MANFREDI was once again a a beautiful holiday. First of all they are located on one of the beautiful streets in Rome and the quietness of them all. I have stayed before and will always return to this beautiful hotel and the family and stay that are there. They are just the loveliest and kindness, warm people ever. My room was spacious, clean and the bathroom big!! I love the location right by the PIAZZA DE SPAGNA, but most of all I love the staff and owners. They just make you feel so warm and like a ROMAN YOURSELF, I truly recommend this hotel and all its beauty and people. THANK YOU so much!! I miss you all.

Stayed here for 3 nights when my wife and I visited Rome. We loved it. The location is incredible. The views of the Colosseum from the rooftop bar and Aroma are incredible. The free daily breakfast from the rooftop was delicious and again we loved the view. This hotel is in a historic district so it is a small property; however the rooms were still big enough for us and our luggage. The staff was very friendly. We will certainly be back.

We had booked this hotel in April this year but looking at the reviews, we decided it wasn’t for us and we booked elsewhere. Whilst I’m Rome this week, we thought we would go and have a drink to see if we’d made that right decision cancelling our original booking. We were so glad we did as entering the hotel, we were very rudely spoken to by a man on the door, his attitude was appalling and I am so glad we didn’t stay here.

I would've given 5 stars but the way they handled a problem during my stay really soured my experience with them. The room itself is fairly small, and the windows are thin. If you face their outdoor bar area, you'll hear the chatter late into the night. Despite this, the breakfast in the morning was delicious and you have a great view of the Colosseum. Everything was well until I received the bill for my stay. I expected a smaller amount than what I was told, yet I made the mistake of approving the charge because I was in a rush to the train station. When I reviewed the bill later on, I inquired about the discrepancy and was told that it was related to the bar. The problem is, I never ordered anything at the bar. Someone had placed a tab using my room number, and as I tried to explain this to the staff via email, they were unresponsive and did not try to meditate the situation.

A spectacular hotel with a breathtaking view of the Colosseum. The restaurant, Aroma, is Michelin starred and an experience all itself. The outdoor bar is mesmerizing as well. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. The room amenities are top notch. The head cushion if the bathtub is a nice touch!

So disappointed, shower was broken and water went straight into lights, floor boards worn and trip hazards. Aircon in our room made so much noise you could not use it. I had such high hopes but it was terrible.

When in Rome…the Manfredi is a wonderful place to stay. Its location is just hard to beat and luxury is the rule of the day! Great rooms with a wonderful view of the Colosseum! We found the staff to be most friendly and professional. They met or exceeded all of our expectations. The breakfast each morning was a wonderful way to start the day…and the Court Bar a great way to bring each day to a close. Great restaurant and lots of great places to dine in the neighborhood…we would definitely stay here again!
