Detailed Reviews
Habitat Playa Romana is situated close to the beautiful beaches of Spain, with several interesting spots in the neighborhood. So the spot is excellent, however, the habitat needs renovation, which is apparently taken care of during our stay: units were renovated, but ours was not yet transformed to the usual standards of today. Apart from that, the units were not clean and we shared our unit with several cockroaches, that we had to remove every day from our bathroom and kitchen.
Still, when the renovation is done, I think this is a very nice place to stay with children as there is a huge swimming pool situated between the dormitories and a supermarked with a vaste choice of fresh food is just a 5 minutes walk away. When you go to this resort, I think you need a car if you want to do some touring around.
The train brings you in 1.5 hours to the beautiful city of Valencia for less than 20 euro's return.

Unless you are well versed in European seasonal availability ( or lack thereof) of goods and services, take care when booking dates here. Mid October and the door of the only local “ supermarket” was literally slammed in my face as it closed until Easter! Resort restaurant closed for the season.
Very limited bus service and even more limited taxis.
Units old and a bit tired, but comfortable and great location ( if you have own transport)
2 staff at reception ( Kione Resorts which you may not know) were very helpful, but generally speaking other staff did not appear to be enjoying their jobs and were not welcoming to guests

close walk to beautiful beach, nice town and it had pleasant grounds. We stayed early Nov and weather was great when we were there. The room at the back that never got sun was cold but they provided a little heater, It was perfect during the day,. Reasonable kitchen faciltities. Pool and ground very nice but I dont know what it would be like in peak season - we enjoyed the quiet. The rooms are all white - so was furniture - no paintings. Much from Ikea. I brought in flowers and fruit to bring a splash of colour.

We stayed at the Kione Playa Romana complex in Alcossebre for 4 weeks from the end of April to the end of May 2024. Everything in the complex itself has been beautifully renovated. The apartments have not all been renovated yet. Ours was nice and big, newly painted and newly furnished. We were very impressed with the huge fridge with freezer compartment. The air conditioning could also heat, which we initially used. Unfortunately, only Spanish programs were installed on both TVs, but that was not a big deal. The reception was also open from 10 a.m. on weekends. The kitchen of the La Dolce Vita restaurant in the complex is highly recommended and inexpensive. Rita's paella is amazing. The sandy beaches are very flat and good for children. The restaurants on the promenade and in the harbor are all recommended. The tapas in El Arenal (promenade) and the daily menu for 12 euros in King Doner Kebab (harbor) are particularly worth mentioning. We had our scooter with us and were able to drive the narrow streets (caminos) along the coast to the surrounding villages. The weekly market takes place in a different town every day. You can find out more about it on the Internet. In our opinion, it is particularly beautiful in Peniscola with the fortress from the TV series Game of Thrones and in Oropesa. In Marina d'Or you can unfortunately still see the effects of the pandemic, as it was once the jewel of the Mediterranean. But it is being rebuilt and renovated. If you prefer a quieter place, you can hike and cycle in the nearby nature park. There is something for everyone.

It takes a bit to get there from Valencia if you don't have a car, (over an hour by taxi), but once there, it is beautiful.
The resort itself, the grounds, pool, on-site restaurant, were great. The small kitchenette - along with a grocery store around the corner, made breakfast, mid-day meals, and even home cooked dinners an option. The staff, although very helpful, do not speak English. They understand some, but be prepared with a translator app or brush up on your Spanish before you go.(Anna Maria, at reception, was a life saver! )
There were some activities that you could book but not what we were hoping for. I would recommend a car if you wanted to explore the area. We wanted to see near by wineries and a few historical sites, but there was nothing like that offered from the resort and we didn't have a car. And, there 's no car rental there or within walking distance.
The beach across the street, well, its the Mediterranean, so no complaints there!!. Lots of boardwalk to use as well as the beach, for walks.
And the local (within walking distance) restaurants, are a treat. Great food options, wines, fun staff and amazing views. Again, the people usually don't speak English but are more than willing to try and help you out.
Enjoy!

We stayed here two years ago mainly because it's one of the few dog friendly resorts. It was a little grim. Reviews since look to have improved.
We were in block 6A this time. A more modernised apartment on the second floor. Better equipped and much cleaner and fresher looking.
In October the onsite restaurants were closed and most of the nearby independents were closed.
The beach is nearby and an easy walk into the town centre for bars, shops and restaurants.

We enjoyed our stay. Front desk was always helpful. The unit was newly renovated and had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable and we were thankful for the heater which worked great. It was off season, so a lot of the restaurants were closed.

I tried to check in on a Saturday (that's the only choice given for check in day) and everything was locked up and all lights off. I tried calling the number several times, but no answer. So I had to get a taxi to the next town and get a hotel room for the weekend. On Monday I got to finally check in and the receptionist said they sent an email with after hours instructions. No I never got an email. No wifi access, and the restaurant has very limited hours.
The beach is absolutely beautiful.

The resort is very nice, adjacent to beautiful beach, highly recomended. We had an unplesant experience though, as refurbishment works carried out on the building in front of our balcony for the whole week. Noisy, with dust and water spray blown in the air around. Dirty works - removing paint on the face of the building with pressure jet water. Hence depressing view from the balcony, with prolonged repetitive and tiring noise throughout the whole day, for the whole week. We asked to be relocated on the Saturday evening immediately after checking-in, not knowing and not being informed of the works, but were refused, with explanation that this was impossible. This bad experience dented our otherwise very pleasant stay at Alcossebre

Just accross the beach with 2 swimming pools and nice gardens. Our appartment was good and renewed just shower getting old. Appartments are not well sound proof and you hear well nighbours. As we stayed end October it was almost empty so very good to enjoy with no constraints and weather was good.
