We stayed there as a base for touring tarragona and Reus. The hotel is pricy. it is just off the highway and you hardly hear the tragic, the highway (and a display of plastic pools) are your view - at least from room 4. Room is spacious and feels new, (besides some “have seen better days” furniture :-( . The walls and door are not sound proof ( not sure if this is exists anywhere in Spain...) so your night sleep will depends on your neighborhood’s :-) and how load is the front desk... The WiFi is so so and regular internet service was not the best either. There is no door to the bathroom area - but it’s kind in a room of itself so not critical. All TV channels are in Spanish. Pool is small and not heated. Many mosquitos outside as well as inside “public area”. We tried the lunch menu in the restaurant and while I would give it A for effort (good service, nice presentation, all seems fresh, excellent bread), there was no wow and I wouldn’t go back... …
Our room Aberquina suite was spacious with King bed, nice desk with Nespresso coffee machine and a sitting area. Bathroom was large with separate areas for toilet, a huge shower and double vanities. Probably this is the best room in the La Boella. Electric shutters. Wifi never got connected inside the suite, we had to go downstairs to the lobby. Suite is on the top floor with wraparound terrace surrounded by an extensive plantation of olive trees and vineyards. From afar you see the bodega and wine store. Be aware the elevator only takes you to the entrance of the suite, there is another flight of steps to reach the bedroom. Worthy included breakfast served in a very nice restaurant. Extensive buffet with eggs cooked to order. We enjoyed de tranquility of the hotel. As in many older properties parking is outside the hotel installations. Here you have to take your suitcase through the gardens, nothing is paved. There are no bells boys and the receptionist will help if you need it. Although close to the highway, the noise did not bother us. Hotel Mas la Boella is a working farm, producing excellent extra virgin oil and wines. Next morning we participated on a complimentary olive oil tasting at their shop. We learned about the modern way of planting olive trees (they are close together similar to a vineyard) to be able to harvest with machines instead of hand picking. We tasted three different varieties Arbequina, Arbosana and Koroneiki. We took one of each home. They were so tasty. Store has a wide selection of wines of the area. This May 2019, we started our trip in Barcelona driving a rented Fiat 500 down to Jumilla and Alicante in search of Monastrell wines. We passed through picturesque towns of Penincola and Guadelest. In Valencia we visited Celler del Roure, fascinating vineyard that ferments and ages wine underground in old buried Clay Amphoras. info@cellerdelroure dot es Close to Jumilla, in Carche, we came across a new Wine Museum that it worth a visit. museodelvinojumilla dot com Roads were in perfect condition and Google Maps was invaluable.…
A picturesque luxury hotel with beautiful gardens, palm trees, oilve trees, vineyards and Tuscan like buildings. Modern large bedrooms with separate large bathroom with a shower that is tiled floor to ceiling in dark slate like likes. Comfy robes and slippers . Went to the Olive tasting which was very informative. Large wine shop selling olive oils also. Pool to cool off in after shopping in nearby Tarragona . Restaurant offered a large buffet breakfast and we cant say enough about the very reasonable excellent food we had at lunch and dinner. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and would love to go back and stay longer. Parking is difficult in Tarragona so we took taxis which cost about 17-20 euros from the hotel to town. We found it difficult to find a taxi though when we wanted to get back to the hotel later in the day.…
Can’t say enough about how beautiful this oasis in the midst of a highway is. The staff is welcoming, the rooms lovely and the restaurant divine. Just a tad hard to find. If you are about to give up if you drive around the circle one more time, you are close
Stayed three nights in a suite. Modern and well fitted out. Terrace was large but a bit spartan. Pool was not operating even though it was late May. Event on last night blared music well past midnight in adjacent convention centre. On upside, hotel setting and gardens are beautiful. La Moella dining was high quality and very good value in an old world setting. Access to town and Priorat are excellent.
