I really liked the Olivia Balmes hotel. I traveled here on business June 2022 visiting from New York. The room was clean and very comfortable, and i loved the location (you felt like you were right in the heart of everything) but not on an extremely busy road, so it was still quiet at night. It was pretty hot out so i enjoyed relaxing in the infinity pool and having some drinks up on the pool deck. Not a huge area, but it was never too crowded where you couldn't find a chair. The staff was always extremely helpful, regardless of what time of day it was. I was always able to quickly get help, have a presentation printed by them, or get a taxi very quickly. Some of the best hotel service i've had. I really liked the gentleman who hangs out by the front door and outside in the afternoons/evenings. He was such a nice and cool down to earth guy. He made me some great food recommendations and told me where to eat and what tourist spots to avoid. He was extremely nice and always interested in hearing how your day was and what I was up to that day. Just a great all-around experience…
What a nice stay! It was only two days but it was remarkable. The Hotel notice it was my birthday and made me a pleasant surprise at breakfast. The service is incredible. We had a early flight and they prepared a take away breakfast. The location is perfect!
We stayed at Olivia Balmes on business. Overall, a great hotel, clean, modern front staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Location was lovely, I don’t know Barcelona too well but the neighbourhood seemed upmarket with lots of great restaurants close by and a 20 min walk to the main tourist areas of Barcelona. One MAJOR issue I had whilst we stayed was almost having my bag stolen on the rooftop. I’d gone up to work, and sat on the side opposite to the pool that isn’t staffed. It was quiet- no one was around. I had my bag on the floor to the left of my feet, my laptop on my knee and closed my eyes for about 2-3 minutes as I was a bit fatigued. I don’t know what made me open my eyes as I heard nothing, but as I did, a guy had his hand over my bag ready to grab it. I jumped up confused and didn’t really compute what was happening. He laughed at me and then walked off through the door to the gym. It was then I realised he was trying to steal my bag. Had I not have woke, he would have taken it. I called security and they were straight up, after giving them a description of the guy then ran off again but I didn’t hear anything about it after that which was a little disappointing. There were cameras on the rooftop, so I hope at least this footage has been passed to the police. Beware of this if you visit- thieves can easily access the lifts as they don’t require key cards to enter, and the pool area would be an easy target where people are relaxing with their eyes closed. I’d also take care in other areas of the hotel too. I knew Barcelona has problems with theft, but thought it was only confined to the streets. Obviously not…
We spent three nights at this hotel and loved it. We were upgraded to a deluxe double-bed room on a high floor over looking the courtyard. Room was modern, clean, and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent by any standard. Staff were very helpful and professional. Most importantly, the location is exceptional: couple of blocks from the most exclusive shops and surrounded by taps bars and cafes. Also a quick walk to a metro station. Will definitely stay there again.
I expected more from the hotel in this category. Breakfast is standard and too simple for the price. The whole hotel is dark and unpleasant to walk in the corridors or the elevator. I will not recommend to others.
We chose this particular hotel for proximity of Plaza Catalunya which we considered as a hub for our moves. Couldn't have chosen better, the service was immaculate. We added a detail of special diet one of us has to adhere to, we did not have to repeat that a single time to any of the hotel staff. We've accustomed to check, re-check and to check a re-check while eating anywhere else but our own home, but not this time. When checking in we were asked if this still holds true and observed through the hotel menu with frontdesk staff of any unsuitable food it may contain. Next morning in the breakfast we were offered variety of suitable food right off the entry, no need to ask for it or if something could be made. Frontdesk staff was also extremely helpful to share local's tips and places to see, we found fantastic restaurants nearby when we were pointed to direction we had not considered at all. On top of that the hotel was just like marketed, really contemporary and all the normal amenities one could ask for. For a family with smaller children it is not necessarily an ideal stay as the swimming pool on the rooftop is quite small and shallow but for lounging and sunbathing it is just perfect. If not bothered of short commute and walk the city beaches are just couple of tube stops away.…
Great People at a great hotel! We arrived flustered as the airline (AF) had lost our luggage but the staff greeted us warmly and brought us some champagne , a much needed drink in our condition. Thankfully, the room was comfortable and close to all we needed. Main thing is though, every interaction we had was so positive and everyone was so helpful, getting us a taxi, recommending places to eat and delivering our luggage when it finally arrived. Can’t wait to go back!
This hotel is extremely clean and comfortable. What makes it extra special is the outstanding service and staff. Everyone goes out of their way to listen to your questions and truly help you. Josep amd Lenin were especially helpful to us. The location is fantastic as well. Plenty of dining options in the surrounding area. Walking distance to Plaza Catalunya and to the Sagrada Familia. I would highly recommend to our friends.
Enjoyed our stay and felt so welcome from the start when Lenin checked us in and gave us the low down on the area. The hotel could be amazing but without the staff and service it is nothing. Lenin and all the staff make this a brilliant place to stay
Don’t get me wrong: it is a good hotel BUT after having read all the reviews I expected something different and maybe slightly better. I start with the pros: - location - gym - swimming pool - staff (in particular Myriam in the breakfast) However, there are some cons and being fair some might be due to a lack of expectations management from my side, but for a 4*S I was expecting a plus. It is a solid 4* I would say. A few cons: - Breakfast is relatively modest with limited options in terms of fresh fruit, natural juices and types of bread - breakfast ends at 10:30. I don’t understand the issue of offering it until 11:00. For people staying on holidays it is a nice plus - Cleaning: the air con exit was full of dust. Also, the day when we arrived the room didn’t smell like freshly cleaned. It smelled like as if someone just left. It improved during our stay - Limited offer in the bar for cocktails and drinks. The bar in the rooftop closes at 5pm. It is not possible to get a drink in the rooftop after a day walking in the city. In short: it is more like a business style hotel and I was looking for something more “family/holidays” oriented or that at least could do both. It’s not bad, but to be ranked as #10 in TA…I am not so sure……
