After extensive research I finally decided on the W, and man I’m so glad I did. It’s just beautiful here and right on the beach. So much to do in this hotel, and it’s not far from the main city center. Thank you Sofia for making this experience wonderful. It means a lot to us since we are here for a special anniversary. The W is a winner!
Back for my birthday and did enjoy my stay and the service by the W crew a lot. Got a low floor Suite facing the skyline in front of the infinity pool. Only bummer was an event directly in front of my room, so finding sleep wasn’t possible before 11pm that day. Breakfast was very nice as well, sitting outside in the morning by the pool and enjoying the view to BCN is amazing. Will be back soon, thank you dear team.
We have been to Barcelona several times, but this was our first stay at the beach area. The W Barcelona is pricey, but delivers in just about every way. The beachfront location is terrific, and it’s a nice, relatively short walk (one kilometer) to Barceloneta, and another kilometer to the Gothic area. The hotel staff were all extremely friendly and helpful; our check-in agent, Prateek, was incredibly helpful. Our corner suite was a fantastic room with 2 huge windows, one facing the sea and the other facing the sea, marina, and harbor area. We didn’t get the hotel breakfast, but dinner at it’s Fire Restaurant was excellent. Private beach area with loungers and umbrellas was very nice. The only drawback to the hotel is the pool, as it is quite small for such a large hotel, and is more of a “see and be seen place” than a swimming area. Still, I recommend the W Barcelona if you want a luxury beachfront hotel in Barcelona.…
Oh wow! I just had the most wonderful time at the downstairs , indoor bar at the W Hotel . I was coming for dinner with a friend and we decided to get some drinks at the bar before and after our meal. The bartender, Francesca, went above and beyond our expectations . Not only did she recommend local and unique experiences , she also listened to our wants and needs and created amazing one of a kind cocktails . Francesca created an amazing experience with customer service and attention to detail , she really deserves positive accolades . Francesca , Francesca, Francesca, we just can’t get enough ! Thanks Franny!!
Wow, I just had the most amazing stay at the W Barcelona. I was initially apprehensive as the night before I was about to leave, I noticed a flurry of one and two star reviews on Tripadvisor. I then called the W and their Guest Relations was kind enough to spend 10 mins with me on the phone (bear in mind I had already paid and couldn't cancel) as I asked what was true from those reviews and what wasn't. The reviews there aren't entirely truthful. For example, one says the public are allowed into the pool area. Well, there are two pools, the Wet Deck and the Sun Deck for hotel guests only. This is the majority of the area. There's also a pretty large area without a pool that the public can rent for a pretty large fee. IN the entire week I was there, absolutely no issue with the public entering and taking sun beds or space that hotel guests could not get. Now that's out of the way, let's get to the stay itself. I stayed for a week from the end of may to the end of the first week in June. I am a Marriott Gold member and on arrival I was upgraded to a Wonderful room on the 11th floor. Paulo on check in was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet. I slept well in the bed and the rain shower was bliss after a day in the sun. Throughout the week, little gifts were left in the room like multiple bottles of water, a box of chocolates, Innocent smoothies and a cake the day before I was to check out. Jordi gave me some great tips when I asked how to maximise my fun at the hotel. I spent two full days by the pool and numerous mornings. The food is pricey but it's decent and I was happy to pay for not having to move and enjoy the sun. I want to give a huge thanks to Lucas, Charlotte, Charleen and Vanessa who were all very friendly, attentive and fun to be around. Great servers who made the times by the pool that much better. The gym is well equipped which is something I'm not used to in even high end 5 star hotels. A good free weights section, running machines and Technogym equipment. All I care about is Swiss Balls and free weights section so it suited me just find. Thinking about it now, I am already planning when I can go back next year. Thank you W staff for making it one to remember.…
I came to this hotel hoping for brilliant things ! We stay alot in Dubai and this just does not come close to service ! Waiting for over half an hour for drinks most times and having to go to the bar to get your own drinks which they say someone will take your order but no they don’t . Breakfast was nice but forgot our order x2 times ans waited over a hour for our breakfast . Hotel staff or reception and guest services are amazing . But when it comes do drinks your better off going somewhere else . Would not stay here again as we like the service of hotels ans manner which you are treated . Maybe as we are younger and tattooed up we wasn’t a priority . Was a shame as was a husband ans wife trip hoping for a nice getaway . Back to Dubai it is Iam afraid
We had booked a different suite in the hotel and had pre-paid our room. On arrival our room was not ready and we were offered to upgrade to the W EXPERIENCE SUITE which was supposed to be amazing. They quoted us an incremental fee and after getting them to reduce the charge modestly we decided to try the room for a night. We waited until they had the room organized and were given a fruit tray and a glass of champagne. The room was ready in a few minutes and we went there by ourselves. It was a nice room with a great view and good terrace. It seemed more suited to being a party room than a guest suite. The walls are made of speakers and the feel of the room was like a party room. While we were there the sauna in the master bedroom began to work (we had no idea if or how we turned it on as nobody had explained the room to us). The service people came quickly (when informed) and brought the mechanical people who turned the sauna off. The promised champagne was delivered to one of the adjoining rooms attached to the suite. We found this room (and our champagne) about 10:00 PM as nobody had given us a tour and we did not know there were two adjoining rooms. Our real problem with the suite is that we felt cheated. The published rack-rate for the room on a similar (Saturday) night in June was less than they charged us by over 1000 Euros. They kept the money we had pre-paid on our original reservation and charged us a large fee to upgrade that exceeded the advertised price of the room. Overall we thought this suite was okay as the premier room in a large hotel but we have stayed in much nicer. The way they priced this and the cost were just wrong.…
So since waiting two and a half years to have a weeks break in the sun due to COVID We picked the iconic W hotel in Barcelona, we are no spring chickens but well traveled married couple were we have stayed in some great hotels , Bellagio in Vegas, W hotel in Los Angeles, Moon palace Cancun, Imagine sitting around the pool having a chilled out time having cocktails listening to music In the early afternoon in the background kids playing in the pool and guest generally having a great time and spending money, We were informed that the whole pool deck area was closing at 4.30 Due to some summer party event , kicked out to a sun deck area about a third of the size. Not informed about this event prior or at check in could buy tickets but not worth the money strike one! Strike 2, there’s is a roof top bar that in the evenings will only allow certain types of person in and dictates what clothes and shoes you need to wear to get in , So unless you are a couple who have just stepped out of a model shoot do not even bother trying to get in . Strike 3 , after being kicked out of the pool we headed back to our room at 5pm to discover room was not made up , dirty coffee cups had not been cleaned for the second day! Rang the What ever / Whenever number who got maid here within the hour who gave us towels, water cleared away trash from coffee area but left the dirty cups untouched, rang again to get maid back, no apologies for the room being missed. So as the title says , W Hotels cares more about its own ego above paying guests.…
W Barcelona Barcelona Don't ever stay here.... Awful place. Awful staff 840492894 Please.... Listen to me and never ever stay here. This hotel is visually stunning, of that there is no doubt. Just a shame that the staff that work there are atrocious and do their best to ruin everyone's trip. Let's start with the positives: 1. The view is wonderful. 2. Comfortable bed. That's it. Now let's talk about the staff and police that were at the hotel. On day 1 we went to the bar on the ground floor. We were told we couldn't order at the bar, take a seat they said and someone will be over to take our order. 45 minutes later we finally got asked if we wanted a drink, no apology or anything. We have up after 1 drink and went rk bed. On day 2 we went to the pool bat at about 5pm, met a lovely couple from Watford (James & Lauren) and had some champagne. They told us that they had all sorts of issues during their stay and that the staff were so rude and obnoxious. At about 7pm,my fiance went up to the room to have a siesta, I stayed down with our new friends. We had some shots, some champagne and had a lovely time. Then at about 9pm, James and I were approached by 3 police officers and 3 Hotel staff. They said we needed to pack our bags and leave the hotel immediately. They said that James had beaten up girlfriend (who was sitting with us and having a good time) and they said I had been dealing drugs (never tried a drug in my life).... We argued and said that all the above was not true, however the police grabbed us violently and dragged us to our respective rooms. They bashed on my door, told my finance I had been dealing drugs and that they were arresting me if we didn't leave in 5 mins. Whilst she packed, I was dragged in handcuffs to a back door and then chucked out. So basically, the finance and I were chucked out of a hotel in a foreign country at about 10pm at night for something that never happened. I called the police and when they turned up they were laughing and joking with the staff and said I had been dealing drugs. I asked to see any evidence via CCTV and was told that I didn't have the right to. We then spent over £250 to book a new hotel for the night. James and Lauren were also thrown out. The staff and the police were absolute scum. They were so rude to everyone who was staying. Terrible place, terrible staff and the Spanish police should be ashamed of themselves. Never stay here... Police and security are disgusting and they still have money pending on my credit card for no reason. Richard S…
The hotel is a great building with kind employees. If you are debating on staying in the city center or on the beach, stay in the city center. Sure, this place offers great pictures. However, this hotel has bad wifi and attracts unkind customers. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else. This was not how we wanted to spend our last night in Barcelona since most of the city has been amazing.
