Fab little find, cute rooms, inexpensive and perfectly situated. A couple of great breakfast places close by : ) Bilbao and environs are surprising and the coppa and pintxos evenings were great fun too. A trip out to Portugalete, Puente Colgante and then a walk up the coast via Las Grandes Villas, Puerto Viejo, Getxo and the lighthouse is worth the 20 mins train ride!
Ideal for all the things you may want to do. 10 minutes from Guggenheim, 5 minutes from the Old Town area. Comfortable room, comfortable beds. Very helpful reception with information and advice. Would recommend.
I took a cab from the bus terminus to Begona, and it cost about 6 euros. The pensionne entry is less than impressive: there's a code on the door, and one floor up, a code on another door and then you're in the reception area. The staff member was pleasant enough and helpful enough. My room was kind of depressing, but it was clean. Lino on the floor, a brick wall outside the window, and one of the beds very hard (not the other one, though, strangely enough!). On the upside, the location is good. I walked over a pedestrian bridge and along the river, (opposite the Guggenheim), to the funicular and got a bird's eye view of the city. I paid 70euros for the night for a double room. It wasn't worth it, imho. If you get it for less, though, the location would save on fares--its very central.…
Although it can be a little hard to find, reception on the first floor, this place is in a great location for visiting Bilbao. Take note that if you come by car you will have to park in the main underground parking by the river and walk to the hotel. Clean rooms with very good bathrooms and no fuss.
Such helpful staff - we forgot to bring electrical travel adaptors and they lent us some. Smallish room, but perfectly OK for a few nights and worth it for being so close to the river and just a stroll away from the Guggenheim. Walkable, too, from the airport bus stop and to the Old Town. Despite a slight hostel feel, we had beds made each day and towels hung up and bins emptied. Always someone on reception. Plenty of places nearby for breakfast. TV only had Spanish channels that we could find, but good for learning Spanish!
