Revamped Royal Townhouse Once the summer residence of Empress Eugenia de Montijo (Napoleon III´s wife), Hotel Claude Marbella is a 17th- century townhouse that has been revamped and restyled to meld authentic period features with modern design, setting a new benchmark in the boutique-is- beautiful league of southern Spanish hotels. This latest chic retreat takes its name from the late Claude Devoize, the French Opera singer, whose home this townhouse was back in the 70s and 80s, hosting endless soirees and cultural gatherings. The focus of Hotel Claude is its marble-flagged patio and its unique romantic roof terrace, overlooking the bustling old town of Marbella. The seven rooms, divided into 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms and 1 Suite, have been designed individually and each boasting their own unique personality and feel, though all come equipped with the latest in comfort and technology. The Suite Francesca is the only room that looks out onto the old town’s main street. A large balcony and a huge floor-to-ceiling window keep it bright and airy, and the high, wood-beamed ceilings and decorative arch leading to the minimalist mosaic-fitted bathroom create a sense of spaciousness. All 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms are located to the back of the building, overlooking neighbouring patios and roofs. Up in the eaves, The Flamand room overlooks the roof terrace and has its own private stairwell leading up to a smart loft-style studio with glossy oak floors and a semi-open-plan bathroom. Listening to the church chime outside and looking out over the steeple, you feel like a princess in a tower. Savannah and North African-themed Marroqui are joined by a courtyard, making them ideal for families or friends travelling together. Small properties can sometimes feel stifling, but not here, and the design incorporates a flurry of velvet, purples, reds and cream colours. Once the a la carte breakfast has been served on the roof terrace or the black and white themed “bijou” style dining room, guests are left to their own devices. Focusing on showing guests a slice of the old Marbella, in addition to the Costa del Sol´s beaches and golf courses, Hotel Claude emphasises on slowing down and enjoying the surroundings. You´d be hard-pressed to find a retreat as slick or private as The Claude anywhere in Marbella.

Dear Ccunningham1 Thank you for this great review. As to " why you have not stayed here before"....irrelevant, as you have found now your perfect spot in Marbella. And "yes" , Stelian is one of a kind, the perfect host...that is when I am not around ( which I wasn´t ). He has been with us for over 10 years, as well as some of the other service staff, and they fully embrace this little jewel, which "yes" comes under "Labour of Love"/ Lifestyle business. Hoping to welcome you back soon. Muchas gracias Franz

Dear M3429QDjohnb I am very grateful for your lovely review and words of praise. Thank you for following the pattern of Amazing Reviews and for fellow visitors to feed on. And you could not put it better, "Simply a very nice hotel in a great location" , and "yes" heart and passion is the soul of this little baby, which it always be for me and my family. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Seville and the conversations we had, which makes the difference to a normally lonely ride, when visiting the bodega in Jerez. And what a weekend you must have had in Seville, a buzzing and lively city ( one of my favorites in Andalucia), compared to the quieter resort , you had left , called Marbella. I actually felt like staying too. Best wishes Franz

We stayed 3 nights at Hotel Claude and we were very satisfied. This is a very small hotel with only 9 rooms so it is very quiet. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very operational. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent and cooked to order. The staff is

Dear Mgagne_Quebec Many thanks for your lovely review and kind words with regards to our little jewel , here in Marbella´s old town. It was an absolute pleasure looking after you during your 3 day visit here in Marbella. I hope that you stay in Granada and Barcelona were equally as nice and you just got the hang of it for a re visit to Spain. As mentioned to you during your stay, feel free to consult , especially if Galicia and the Camino de Santiago might be on your agenda. Best wishes Franz

Dear Anna, the hotel has got a unique and exclusive large roof terrace ( serving already breakfast in January on terrace ) which is for the sole use of the hotel guests There are several tables and a cozy chill out area overlooking the old town with views to the sea and mountains. It is exposed to the sun all day and at the moment with temperatures in the mid 20s ( degree celsius) it feels like a gorgeous ummers day in Burton upon Trent. The weather forecast for the next 10days also looks good. Bars and restaurants are in walking distance on your doorstep with the first lovely restaurant " Caperuza " under 1 minute away. Ref parking. good there are some free parking spots as well as meters In close proximity of the hotel but to be on the safe side one can Always use the public parking which is approx 3 minutes walk away from the hotel ( they have special deals for stays 3 days plus). The Hotel also provides beach towels with the beach just 6 minutes walk away. And if the weather stays like this well you will need your summer clothes. I hope these answers were helpfull. Dear Ms Lindsey G. Thank you for your interest in our Hotel Claude Marbella. Our hotel is located in the center of Old Town Marbella in about 2 minutes walking from Orange Square and about 10 minutes walking from the sea front and the local beaches of Marbella. Unfortunately we have no gym at our hotel but the nearest is located at 4 min walking distance. Regarding shuttle ...yes we provide that.... if you would like us to book a car transfer from the airport, we can do that. The service is €74,- from or to the airport and we would need exact flight details and the arrival time. There is also a direct bus service from the airport that costs around €9,- per person. The bus would drop you at Marbella´s main bus station and from there you would have to take a taxi which costs around €8,-. All our rooms have hairdryers but straighteners upon request..so not worry about it,just please not hesitate to ask. Should you have any queries, please don´t hesitate to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you and remain With kind regards, Stelian Voicu Reception Hotel Claude Marbella
