Anticipation- so important in travel. I fell in love with the Hyatt picture of the arched bridge leading to the Cathedral. But the view from our room was terrible, some portion of the 'roof' was covering the view. Heart-broken. So I told the front "We traveled half-way around the world to see this beautiful sight but due to this jutting roof we can't see it." They changed our room to one we could see! Thank you. Great, central location, close to public transportation, with the biggest breakfast, lots of choices. The pool was great too. We stayed Jan. before Covid-19.
Highly professional and welcoming hotel, amazing position overlooking the cathedral, and warm and attentive staff. Excellent food. Clear Covid precautions in place. Everything was clean and tidy, and my stay ran wonderfully smoothly
The Hyatt Cologne is managing Covid-19 factors well. The facilities are somewhat reduced and price is the same...does that create long term loyalty ? Gym experience reduced but well managed. Breakfast, reduced by well managed
Worst stay ever. Starting from the concierge , who did not notice us at all. Very rude check-in worker..... Due to Corona there is really strange policy of the hotel: they do not clean your room in 3 days.... Not logical while it must be cleaned twice more in this situation... We checked out one day earlier and left to NH hotel... Nobody even asked us WHY we left earlier.... Our advice.... try something better in this city.
Had a Regency Suite as we wanted to celebrate a special occasion. Unlike what is said on the website it had excellent partial river view, really no need for a more expensive suite. It underlines that Hyatt has truly the best location in town. Great bathroom, even a special guest WC for VIP meetings, large plush bed. And great breakfast with egg station, hence really American b'fast level. Overpriced dinner restaurant, see separate review for Glashaus that dares to charge 7 euro for a simple pot of tea. Our main comments are about the handling of the Covid limitations. Most of them were pre-announced by e-mail or on the website, and hence 'acceptable' (maybe except for the fact that the room rates were not cut at all due to delivering less): no pool, no minibar, no Regency Club Lounge. The latter got compensated by having a small but filling mini-dinner/snack & drinks buffet from 6-8 PM for people that normally have lounge access. What we find however totally unacceptable is that, unannounced and probably unrelated to the minibar, also the free coffee/tea making in the room simply got scrapped. Yes suite guests got free coffee/tea from 6-8 PM (and normal guests not even then). But for this service, an essential part of the package for us and probably many others, it would not have been to hard to arrange it as free room service or even pickup downstairs for a few times per day? Again, it sounds like in these Covid days the hotel is run by Mr. Scrooge...…
