I spent a weekend here, and while it's a comfortable hostel in an interesting area, the name 'Instant Sleep' doesn't apply on Saturday nights because of the noise from the bar downstairs, punctuated occasionally by sirens. You soon realize why there's an earplug dispenser at reception. Sunday night was fine, though. The hostel has a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, and the facilities you'd expect, including excellent wifi. Not luxurious, but it attracts a fun-loving crowd and is an enjoyable place to stay if you're in the area.
Staying here at the moment in a triple room. Absolutely perfect for our needs. Faultless. Cheap bed for a couple of nights and there is a small bar too! Thank you. Close walking distance to good nightlife! Would stay here again
It's perfect if you want to meet other travellers and be part of a community for a couple or days. Sheets are clean and smell fresh, the kitchen is very functional and kept clean and the price is ridiculously low. The showers are not the best, but they are maintained. The location was excellent: 10 minutes from the s-bahn by walk, near lots of bars and restaurants, shops, cafés, etc. Also, free coffee and tea all day long. The staff is very nice. There is just next door a fabulous breakfast restaurant, mamalicious, best pancakes I had in years. Thanks for the amazing stay! Justine
Avoid at all costs during the weekend - you will be treated to ear-splittingly loud music from 10PM-5AM from the bar below. I tried to cancel my reservation for the second night because the noise was so extreme (way beyond “backpacker hostel noise disturbances” as mentioned on booking.com), but my request was denied by the hostel.
We had a private triple room. the beds were self builded out of wood so there is a lot of space at the bottom bunk up the the upper bunk. The communal area is composed of open kitchens, reception, tables / couches and a kind of small stage. It was a cozy globetrotting athmosphere. There were also many students temporarily staying at the hostel. I guess there are some little music show at the hostel but we did'nt stayed there in the evening. I did not like the bathrooms. Showers, toilets and sinks were all in a single room, no privacy at all and it could have been cleaner. The hostel is perfectly located in the Sternschanze district, a cool alternative scene area. Just a few tram stops away from St. Pauli and the famous Reeperbahn.
