The 3* Hotel Europa City is situated in the heart of West Berlin in Konstanzer Street, located not far from Olivaer Square and Adenauer Square. It's location is ideal and central, only 2 minutes by foot to the 'Kurfuerstendamm' and has excellent transport connections to the ICC Exhibition Centre. And an ideal starting point for businessmen and tourists, who after a long strenuous day can find a quiet rest place in our hotel. In 4 minutes you can reach the underground station at U "Adenauer Platz" or the U "Konstanzer Strasse" as well as the bus at Olivaer Platz, from where you have easy access to the most interesting tourist sights of Berlin - the Palace Charlottenburg, the Memory Church, the Zoo and Aquarium, the Column of Victory, the Olympic Stadium, the Europa Center, the Brandenburger Gate, the Potsdamer Place and many others. The 'Kurfuerstendamm' is a true shopping paradise: KaDeWe and many luxurious boutiques invite to the shopping. Courteous and friendly personnel will make your stay comfortable.

The hotel is dated but clean and had everything we needed, the only downside really were the pillows, which were extremely thin.
The hotel is about an 8 min walk from the U Bahn, 30 mins ish from the main centre of Berlin. There are also a number of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

As others have said the hotel is dated, but it is clean and at the end of the day that's what matters. We had a double room (which consisted of two singles put together with a gap in the middle), single duvets and 1 large pillow which even when doubled over was about the depth of one thin pillow. We asked for an extra pillow which was provided. The room was very warm at all times. The bathroom looked newly fitted and included a soap dispenser at the sink and a shower/hair wash in the shower. Towels, tissues, glasses and a hairdryer also in the bathroom. There is a TV in the room, desk with lamp, 2 bedside cabinets and a wardrobe. There is no kettle in the room. Breakfast was help yourself and consisted of sausages, scrambled eggs, various meats and cheeses, rolls, bread for toasting, butters/jams, cereals, yoghurt, juices, teas and coffee, so plenty to choose from.

Sorry this is a long review, but I'm hoping my information will help others to plan their trip as some of the info I had was picked up from other reviews too, and my own experience.

We arrived at around 2.00pm so our room was ready, and on our last day we left our luggage in a locked room and collected later in the day. The staff all speak very good english and are helpful. The wifi isn't very strong, but I had loads of data available to me anyway, so didn't use the wifi.

Location: Before we left I googled all the travel plans, and whilst you are there google maps is a godsend. From Schonefeld Airport, right outside there is a bus stop for X7 Rudow - this costs 3 euros and takes 8 minutes to get a little bit away from the airport. You then need go diagonally across the road to the Underground (U-bahn) and get on the U7 for 24 stops (36 minutes) to U-Bhf Konstanzer Strabe. It is then a 5 minute walk to the hotel. We didn't know what zone ticket to buy so we bought one that covered all zones (around 7 euros) but on the return we just bought a smaller zone one for 3.40 euros. When you buy the ticket on the platform you then have to validate it on another machine next to it before getting on the tube. There are no barriers at the other end.

From the hotel it is a short walk to the end of the road and then you are on the main road Kurfurstendamm. Along this road is all the high end shops like Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Cartier, Tiffany's, D&G. Then a few more minutes along is a C&A - couldn't resist going in there as it closed in the UK back in 2001.

We decided to walk to the closest xmas market by the church which was about a mile away and spent the afternoon there and looking in the shops. There is a big department store KaDeWe which is amazing. There is one floor which is just dedicated to food and drink with bars are tables so you can eat and drink there.

The 2nd day we decided to go on the Tour bus. There are a couple of different tour operators, we sent on the BEX Sightseeing Yellow City Bus. It was 22 euros for 1 day or 26 for 2 days. We decided to opt for a 2 day pass, as we considered for an extra 4 euros, if we decided to use the next day, this would be cheaper than a day bus ticket. The tours are 10.00-17.00 every day. It was raining a little so we stayed on for the whole 2 hour tour and listen to the commentary (you're provided with plug in ear-phones), and made a note of where we wanted to get on/off. We then chose the furthest market at Alexandraplatz where there is also other department stores. The tour takes you by all the main attractions like Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Wall, Brandenberg Gate etc, plus there are a few other smaller markets. The bus runs from 18 different points along the route and go every 10 minutes so you never have to wait long for the next one - Although if you're going back on the later ones you will get caught in rush hour traffic. We definitely made the right decision by going for the 2 day pass as we used it the next day to visit the places we didn't have time for on the first day.

We tried the famous currywurst which was very nice. We were so tired the first night (as we'd been up since just after 5 to fly), there was a small cafe across the road called the Flying Chicken where they did rotisserie chicken, so half a chicken and chips was 7.5 euros each. The next night we walked to the end of the road and turned left down to the next crossroads and ate at the Blockhouse steak house. Prices are similar to the UK, we both had a steak, drinks and dessert which came to 63 euros.

My observations of Berlin - we felt very safe at the markets as they had barriers and security at most. The chips we had we very salty! Only cross when you see the green man but be aware that cars can still turn if there is no-one crossing so it's a bit odd when a car starts to come towards you whilst you are crossing the road, but they do stop! That takes a bit of getting used to.

Location wise I don't think we could have been better placed. It is a budget hotel (and we did have some noisy school children the first night, but they were quiet by 10pm). If I was to go back to Berlin, I would stay at this hotel again.

Booked this hotel through Travel Republic for a midweek break with my Wife and Daughter. We landed at Schonefeld airport and caught the train then underground (U7) to Adenauerplatz which is 2 blocks away from the hotel about a 5 min walk. Adenauerplatz is a busy junction and there are some nice places to eat try Graffiti . The Europa is a functional hotel with no bells and whistles. The rooms are clean and tidy. The bathrooms are clean but could do with updating. The breakfast is continental but plenty of it. The Zoo is about 30 min walk and the tour bus stop is just before. So the area is easy to navigate around. The street outside the hotel is busy but the double glazing is A1 so a good night sleep on the comfortable beds is assured.

Clean, tidy and easy to locate, the hotel was a great place to start our trip. Only 3 minute walk to a major bus station or across the road to the subway. We could get to the city centre within 15 minutes. Breakfast buffet is €8 per person but is prepared well. Staff are accommodating and friendly.

The Heating was Out of Order and It took sometime to change the room even of we told that immediately. Breakfast had very strict timetables, no tolerance at all, even discourtesy with customers. Too much noise from neighboring rooms, even after constant complaints. General unkindness from the staff!

Stayed here in July 2022. What an ugly and dated hotel. Room needed repainting, a good clean, new furniture and the carpet on the stairs was in poor condition. The water in the shower didn't get hot. Terrifying lift, do not use unless necessary. Incredibly bad Wi-Fi (connection drops continuously) and is really poor the rest of the time. Our room was over the Shisha bar and all evening the smell of Shisha flooded the room. It was really hot in Berlin, so we needed the windows open, but then had to breathe Shisha smoke for hours. I had an asthma attack because of it. The receptionists were friendly, which was probably the only plus for this really sh*tty hotel. AVOID!

It is not an hotel. It is a kind of Dormitory. I am staying now at the hotel with my family. Hotel is full of students who make noise all the night. I cannot sleep during two nights. I have never seen such an hotel where I run after the students. It is first time and last time. staying at thls hotel. They should not have accepted student groups. It is obvious that nobody can stop them. So, the hotel staff could not stop them making noise.

I travelled to Berlin for business and stayed in Europa City for 3 nights. A decent, clean hotel in general with a spacious room and bathroom. There is nothing extravagant but for someone who wants a nice shower in the morning followed by a good breakfast before you go to work (or site seeing) and a clean bed for a good sleep at night, this is a hotel that 'does what it says on the tin' and at a very good value for money.
WiFi in the rooms does not work but the hotel people may go out of their way to help if you are at the lobby. One night I had to work till 2 o'clock in the morning and the kept their breakfast room lights on for me, offered me several times (free) coffee and generally were very helpful.
The receptionists were not always smiling (which may be cultural) but were very very efficient and helpful.
I was impressed with their taxi system. When a guest asks for a taxi they press a button and the taxi is there in less than 3 minutes!
Breakfast is rich and with a good choice.
The hotel is well located between two underground stations (different lines) giving you some good alternatives to travel around the city.
I was surprised with comments read here about the location. The hotel is located only a few hundred meters away from the Mecca of shopaholics: the Kurfürstendamm, known locally as the Ku'damm, one of the most famous avenues in Berlin with all the fashion designer shops that one can imagine.
Final point, the elevator can become quite tricky especially in the rush hour of the morning 08.30-09.00. It is small and very slow and if people are leaving all together you may have to wait for quite some time for it.
Bottomline: If you want to spend a few days in a decent hotel near the centre of Berlin at a very reasonable cost and you are not asking for glamour, this is the one for you!

I stayed here from 16th to 20th February with a group of friends. The day before we left I had 340 Euros stolen from the safe in my room. The safe was locked as was the hotel room. Unfortunately, the reception staff were very dismissive of my complaint accusing me of either lying or being senile. I asked to speak to the manager who was contacted but he refused to do so. I was given directions to the police station to report the incident which turned out to be totally incorrect and had to get a taxi to take me to another part of the city.

It seems that theft from hotel safes is not an uncommon incident. Advice I was given by police when entering a code for hotel safes was not to use the usual 1234, 0000 etc. or as in my case, use information that is accessible on your hotel registration forms eg date of birth. I suspect that this is how access was gained to the safe in my room. My main complaint is about the attitude of the hotel staff, their failure to take the matter seriously and the contempt shown by the hotel manager for his refusal to even talk to me. I will leave you to draw your own conclusions.

This hotel also had large groups of teenagers staying who sat on the stairs and in corridors outside rooms making a lot of noise well after 11pm at night.
