If you are the sort of person who walks into a hotel with a tick-list of features which you expect a hotel to have - don't stay here. But, if you're more relaxed, you're likely to be delighted. It's quiet, old-fashioned with comfortable and spacious bedrooms into which practical, but not overly luxurious, bathrooms have been inserted. There's off-road car parking, and a small garden, complete with cat. The proprietors are welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is served in a comfortable, and decidedly ornate room, and the, cold, buffet is varied and excellent.

A five minute stroll takes you to Friedenau S-bahn station, and, after a further 10 minutes, you can be at the Brandenburg Gate - so why stay in the city centre, especially since Berlin public transport is so inexpensive and efficient?

A party of four of us have stayed here twice, and would certainly return.

Oh - and don't miss the cream cakes at Frau Behrens Torten in nearby Rheinstrasse!

To be sure, this is not one of the usual hotel chains. It is different but if you are looking for something special this might be it. Try not to get the room in the basement though. If the bathroom were any smaller one might not fit inside. And it was a bit dark.
Staff was very friendly and rooms were clean. A bit far from the city center but good public transportation close by.

this is a cross between a b and b and a hotel and so is perhaps not for everyone, but I just loved it and would highly recommend it. Clean, hospitable, great breakfast, well-priced, and of course Friedenau is one of Berlin's undiscovered secrets....

this place looks lovely on their website and it clearly was once a beautiful place to stay, but it's now faded grandeur and dated facilities leave it tather lacking in my view. My room was on the fifth floor and it was probably the most uncomfortable night I have spent in a hotel anywhere: the bed was rock hard, the pillow left a crick in my neck and the bathroom was small with only a tiny shower.
Having said that, the owner Christa is a delightful lady who was most helpful, but I had to check out for somewhere else I am afraid.

Stayed for a few days and loved it - with the possible exception of my bathroom, where taking a shower in the tub was a bit challenging. This, however, paled in comparison with the rooms that were large for German standards, the beautiful garden and breakfast room, the superb breakfast and the laid back atmosphere.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, don't stay here if you like chain hotels. But if you like to see the real Berlin, not the touristy part, with great access to the center via S and U Bahn, and stay in an old neighborhood with loads of old buildings, stay here.

Love the cozy and romantic decoration with pics of German authors. The lady landlord Christa was super friendly and nice and helpful. You will love the lovely garden with roses and won't want to go out but enjoy the garden there. Only drawbacks were that the staffs were missing sometime and you could not be so demandinng all the time. The location is quite good. It is located near the S-Bahn 1 within walking distance if you are not carrying large luggage with a wide selection of shopping in cheap supermarkets like EDEKA and Netto and Euro Shop . Also there are restaurants at the S-Bahn Station. The area is superb with beautiful houses and quite.

This hotel is an absolute treasure! We had a beautiful room that was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, and was served in a lovely room next to the garden. Christa, the hotel manager, was wonderful! She was extremely friendly and helpful, and greeted us with a smile every time we saw her. She truly made us feel welcome. The hotel was in a great location that was walking distance from the S-Bahn and some excellent restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a very cosy and quiet place to stay in Berlin. It is cosy, because it has nice furniture (in German we say "Biedermeier style"). The breakfast is in a salon with old style sofas, and the breakfast has a great selection of all I know from my mum (who is from Berlin). There is a nice and large garden with chairs and tables; I spent some time blogging there about my walks around Berlin, when the weather was nice and warm. Yes, the Internet connection works perfectly, even from the garden. The reception is very friendly. The hotel is located in a quiet small street, some five minutes away from the S-Bahn station Friedenau which takes you to the city center in about ten to fifteen minutes. Walking around Berlin was my fitness program.
I reserved a room for later this year again.

This hotel is a real find, with its wonderfully appointed rooms and a most impressive vintage style breakfast room with an inspiring array of platters to choose from. The hotel staff are most friendly and endeavoured to accommodate our wishes. Very friendly, high quality and good value - this one gets the full thumbs up.

Decent sized room but sadly no air conditioning or fans, so no air circulation in the room. Maybe not an issue normally but we found the room really hot . Nice to open the windows but it was rather loud. and sadly the bathroom was even hotter.

The bed was comfortable.and the room well appointed

It is an older hotel with lots of charm and many quirks, be careful about parking as it seems you have to pay extra.

The owner is nice and takes pride in her hotel, the breakfast was good with lots of options.

Sadly good coffee was not really one of them, very well located and easy to get to..
