The hotel seems to go for a youthful and funky vibe rather than elegant and sophisticated ambiance, and it’s a matter of taste whether you find that refreshing and fun or downmarket and brash. I felt that it was a bit below what I would expect from a 4-star lodging though it certainly had some positives. The public areas and rooms were clean and bright and staff were very friendly. The location is quite good, a 15-minute walk (or 5-minute tram ride) from Hauptbahnhof (central station) or Friedrichsstrasse station, 2 minutes to a subway line, and with a tram stop right outside the front door. Given that there’s a busy road outside the hotel, we booked a room facing the inner courtyard, which didn’t have much of a view but was very quiet. We had upgraded to a privilege room with a king size bed (which didn’t quite seem king size), but the room still felt small and would be a squeeze for two people with two large suitcases. Everything seemed new and in good shape, and the same was true for the bathroom. Wifi varied between extremely weak and okay, and the bed was comfortable but transferred movement a bit too much. Housekeeping was not always spot on, with an empty shower gel tube not getting removed. A notable positive were the elevators where we never had to wait more than a few seconds even though the hotel was probably heavily booked for New Year’s Eve.
We didn’t book breakfast but had breakfast on two mornings, and the spread and quality was adequate for the 15 Euro price. There were hot and cold food options, a waffle iron, decent coffee, and eggs could be ordered from the kitchen.
Prices were high over the new year period, and we averaged 140 Euro per night, but that’s the case for most hotels during that time. Overall, not a bad hotel but not particularly memorable.

This is a city centre hotel that has long enjoyed a strong reputation. However, it seems to have suffered during the pandemic, and we felt it was obvious that some improvements are urgently needed. The most important of these is to replace all of the carpeting, which is worn and badly stained. No amount of carpet shampoo can solve this, and of course that leaves it own unpleasant smell. The air conditioning also needs to be upgraded: rooms were still too hot even in September, and hot water was a bit sporadic, at least in my room on floor 6. Smaller blemishes like old pillows and worn out buttons for the lifts, one of which also seemed permanently out of order, also need attention. Wifi could be faster; and the toilet in my room had a nasty smell at times, even if flushed repeatedly. Installing mini-fridges in the rooms would be appreciated: this is now standard in most modern hotels. Ok, so much for the main negatives. Though on a busy street. my room had good soundproofing. The hotel is conveniently situated close to all amenities and sights, with excellent public transport from outside the hotel door. Breakfasts were superb, though rather pricey, with good local fare on offer, and an excellent selection of cold cuts, cheeses, breads, juices, cereals with accompaniments, and hot items, including real scrambled eggs. A small issue is that the espresso / hot water machines were not matched to the sizes of the cups or teapots, causing overflows and delays. Given that most people at the hotel will take breakfast, it seems deceptive even to offer rooms without breakfast. My strong recommendation would be to include the full breakfast in the standard room price, with the option of a simple continental of croissants and coffee – it is, after all, a French hotel chain – offered in the lobby, instead of the full breakfast, at say a 15 € discount for those in a hurry or on a tight budget. The hotel still seemed understaffed, offering incentives for dispensing with housekeeping, and with rather slow service at the bar, manned for much of the time by only one person who had to borrow a bank-card terminal from the front desk. Staff were friendly but seemed a bit stressed.

The best thing about this hotel is it’s location. Arriving at the main station, I took a tram that got me to the hotel in about 3 minutes. The tram and metro stops are both right outside the hotel so it’s very convenient to get around.

Rooms were clean and cozy. Air conditioning worked well. Due to covid, there’s no housekeeping but can always ask at the reception for a change of towels, sheets, etc. Wifi was a bit meh, but there was an option to upgrade to a faster connection for a fee.

Due to a transport strike when I visited, I couldn't get to the airport as originally planned. The hotel staff were able to arrange a cab for me at short notice.

Recommend this hotel for solo travellers who need access to public transport for sightseeing. Lots of restaurants, takeaway & supermarkets in the area.

The hotel is only 2 tram stops from the Hauptbahnhof and is on the U6 Ubahn line so is well serviced by public transport.

Friendly greeting whilst checking in, the rooms are a little small, but you don’t visit Berlin to sit in a hotel room. Our room had a very effective air conditioning, which was very welcome in the heat of the Berlin summer. The breakfast was good, a good spread of meats, cheese, cereals, fruit and hot food, I ordered a salmon omelette each day which was made willingly, and promptly. The lady who greeted us at breakfast, (guessing dining room manager/chief waitress) was, welcomed us each day with a huge smile like she meant it, it was almost a pleasure to go to breakfast just to see her smile.

Two areas for improvement though, my room included the premium wifi, it was rubbish, and no better than the free wifi. The prementum wifi was good in the breakfast room though, so probably the position or number of the routers need improving. As a silver member, I was entitled to a welcome drink. In the UK, if I order a glass of wine, I get asked “small or large?” I didn’t get asked and was given a ‘very’ small glass 10cl. In the UK, we get a minimum of 17.5cl, come on Mercure Germany, don’t be so stingy!

Generally though, a very good hotel with very nice staff, well located for public transport, U6 goes to Friederichstrasse, Unter den Linden and Kochstrasse (Checkpoint Charlie) and the Tram to Alexanderplatz and as said above, the Hauptbahnhof.

The check in process was smooth and the man who checked us in was lovely and gave us some great recommendations for the area.
The location was excellent with lots of restaurants and cafes within walking distance and the station provided easy connectivity.

Our hotel room was spacious, clean and a delight to be in. It was surprisingly the first hotel we stayed at in Europe that provided a tissue box!
The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was good.

We were unable to attend the buffet breakfast on the first day due to it being fully booked however the next day we did and it was delicious with lots of variety.
Would definitely stay again.

Located in the popular Mitte district of Berlin, the hotel has excellent transport connections. The tram and U-bahn stops are on the doorstep and the Hauptbahnhof is within easy reach. All the staff are cheerful, friendly and very helpful. And whilst the rooms are not large (Mitte property prices are high), they are perfectly adequate and do not lack any important amenities.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants a base from which to explore Berlin.

Conveniently located two tram stops from the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) or a shortish walk from the Nordbahnhof S-Bahn station, and also connected to the metro (U-Bahn) at Naturkundemuseum, this hotel is easy to reach using public transport. Several restaurants are nearby. The young staff team is friendly and helpful; also friendly service in the breakfast room. Breakfast was not very varied, but good and up to the standard you can expect in a Mercure. Nothing special about the room, but it was clean and comfortable, and for me, the WLAN connection worked well, too. A kettle for tea and instant coffee was provided in the standard room, as well as a laptop safe. No minibar in the standard room, though.

Came in July to see Coldplay with partner and another couple.

Lovely hotel in the centre, near all transport to get you around Berlin to see all the sights.

Transport is amazing right next to the tram just outside the hotel and down the road is the underground. We got a ticket to use the bus/tram and train all for a set price of €9 for the month which was used well.

We stayed here for 4 days with breakfast, breakfast was great with lots of variety including cheeses, ham, salmon.
Waffles where great too.

Rooms where small but we only stayed in the room to sleep. Limited English channels on the tv but that wasn’t a problem

Bathroom was spacious, no fridge in room.
Ac worked great.
Overall we would definitely stay here again

I must start by assuring that this hotel is very much situated in a central part of Berlin with easily accessible transport and close to most amenities.

We were there for 7 days in which the room was not cleaned for a total of three days hence we had to go and ask for towels ourselves, do the bed and so on. We paid 640 for the room and to be fair we expected that at least our room would be clean.

Most staff are extremely nice, they welcome you with a smile on their face and are very friendly and helpful. However, on the second last day of our trip, my friends and I requested the hotel to arrange a taxi for us. We made it very clear that we needed a taxi that would provide enough space for 8 adults and 16 luggages to which they confirmed that they would help us. When the taxi arrived we ended up with 6 luggages on our knees for the whole trip to the airport (40 minutes) which for some of us ended up in excruciating pain due to the lack of space that we were in. Before the taxi came, two of my friends went to complain in the reception to ask for another taxi to which the man in the reception simply replied that it was not his problem. This is not the kind of help that one would expect from a 4 star hotel.

Personally I would not recommend this hotel for a duration of more than one day,

Great hotel in central location in Mitte district with great access to public transport, only two tram stops from Berlin Hauptbanhoff . Friendly helpful staff , was able to leave luggage whilst exploring prior to checking in and out . Nice clean comfy rooms , all covid precautions in place hand sanitiser stations throughout. Even though facing main road and trams didn’t really notice much noise , but we did have air on . Great selection at breakfast.

Only minor negatives , wifi a bit hit and miss ,and pillows not really the best or comfy.

There are lots of places to eat within walking distance, although Invalidenstrasse itself doesn't really have any. On one side of the road is the Charite Hospital and main station, and on the other the Natural History Museum (Naturkundemuseum). The hotel is just on the eastern side of where the Berlin Wall was, and it is closer to the old East Berlin centre than the West, but that is where most of the tourist attractions are anyway. I would say that it is about 15-20 minutes walk from the centre of the old East Berlin, so that would be the museums, Unter den Linden, the Brandenburg Gate etc. The other thing to remember about Berlin is that the public transport is very good, and there is an underground station, and tram stop right outside. If you prefer to eat in non-touristy type places, the inner suburbs of Moabit and Wedding are very close as well. I think my summary is that it is not a very touristy area or hotel, but it is close to touristy areas if you want. Hope this helps!
