The Abion is situated directly on the Spree in a business park-like complex. It is a short walk to Sbahn and Ubahn from which one can reach most tourist destinations in Berlin in a short trip.

Our room was well appointed with a spacious bathroom, safe, strong WIFI, minibar and coffee machine. We were housed in a small separate building across the courtyard from the main hotel but actually found this very comfortable. The housekeeping staff were particularly pleasant and deserve a special mention.

The hotel staff are really trying hard to maintain Corona hygiene measures under very difficult conditions. There are hand sanitiser dispensers everywhere and guests are asked to book for breakfast and wear masks in the building (with a mostly good success rate). Due to the Corona situation, the usual breakfast buffet has been modified into a hybrid version with individual portions available for self service and more sensitive items being served by staff from behind the counter. Unfortunately this has only proved partially successful as long queues form for the served food at peak times and although there are disinfection cloths around the buffet, there are still many guests touching the same coffee and orange juice dispensers and helping themselves to food every morning. When the breakfast room is full, the congestion and number of people can feel a bit uncomfortable for those conscious of hygiene rules so it would be better to come earlier in the session and enjoy the room in peace and quiet. If logistics allowed it would be preferable to forget the queueing and buffet completely and do a a la carte service for breakfast. The time spent trying to get food and avoid contact with others makes the modified buffet inefficient and people take a long time to get through a small breakfast causing more congestion.

It is not an easy time to travel or to run a hotel but the Abion management are doing a good job to keep the wheels turning. The location is great and I would recommend to other visitors.

The hotel is set alongside the river Spree and affords pleasant walks along its banks. It is a very popular path for joggers, particularly on the weekend. It is situated in easy reach of the City centre. There is a train station some 500m away. Our room, like many others, disappointingly overlooked neighbouring buildings was both comfortable and quiet. The blackout blinds and overall silence made sleep an easy pleasure. Sadly there were no facilities provided for a waking cuppa nor was there a mini bar, however and bizarrely there were instructions provided on where and how to replenish it! The breakfast buffet was sumptuous and appetising in a large dining room. The main restaurant relied heavily upon local cuisine, which in itself, is not to our liking and we thought quite pricey. Unfortunately there is no mid priced dining with light bites available. The staff, throughout the hotel were friendly and obliging.

AMERON Berlin ABION Spreebogen Waterside was a quaint hotel, well decorated, and we had a nice view of the river. The AC in our unit did not do a very good job, and when we opened and left the windows open we had a lot of insects come in – I wish the front desk had warned us. It seems obvious but after a four hour train ride migration pattern of insects isn’t the first thing to come to mind. The room was OK sized, the beds were comfortable. The elevators were small and took a long time at peak times – if you’re on 1, 2, or 3 you should take the stairs. The breakfast is horribly overpriced at 25 euros each – don’t prepay for it – go and look at it so you know what little you are paying for.

We were in the Villa which lies directly on the waterfront. The suite had all we could want, a very comfotable sofa, small fridge, tub, shower, two toilets and long windows that allowed you to sit back and watch the passing river traffic. The beds were stable and the pillows soft but not floppy -ideal. Hygiene concept was followed and positively enforced by the staff. Breakfast was busy, but again, there was everying there including freshly made omlettes, vegan cheese, lactose free milk and a glass of bubbly. Check-In and out was quick, friendly and professional. Parking is available in a large public underground car park. The in-house restaurant has also good quality food and a comfortable ambiance. We found it very easy to unwind here!

The hotel location isn’t great for tourism purposes but I would imagine it’s placed here mainly to serve the offices/event room/conference centre nearby.
The entrance & lobby is modern and tasteful and portraits a positive impression upon arrival. The staff I must complement on their language skills and professionalism at check in.

The breakfast buffet was one of the larger disappointments of our stay at this hotel. We felt that the food options were very limited, particularly towards vegetarian / vegans. Plenty of fresh juice/fruits,continental meats/ cheese’s. However there just simply wasn’t enough for vegans in particular. My partner (vegan) would of been satisfied with veggie sausages and beans on toast but there were none to be seen.
There was one small toaster ( the kind you’d have in your own home ) to serve hundreds of people. The hot food selection was however quite poor even for non fussy eaters with the only hot food available being hard boiled eggs/mushrooms, sausages and bacon. We would have liked to see grilled tomatoes/ veggie protein options/ baked beans, hash browns, scrambled/fried/poached eggs ( these are basic hotel food options available in all hotels across the world ) I must add that there was a omelette station manned by one junior chef however there was a long slow moving queue every time I looked across.

Our room which was what I would describe as a family room with large skylight windows was very dated, and the room was most notably very cold for us reside in. There was a room stat/controller for temperature but I believe the heating system for this room to be broken as it remained cold for the duration of our two night stay no matter how much we adjusted the stat, which forced us to have to take the duvets off of the spare beds just to keep warm at night.

Unfortunately this hotel didn’t meet our expectations whilst being here for both business and leisure.

Would we stay again ? I don’t think so, there are far better value hotels in Berlin in better locations.

Dear Odyssey, thank you very much for your message. We really appreciate, that you took the time, to get back to us and to describe your experiences during your stay.First of all, we deeply apology for all the inconveniences caused during your stay. Thank you for your suggestion about the veggie/vegan breakfast which we are happy to address. You always have the possibility to address our breakfast staff on site. At the buffet we have a variety of egg dishes and grilled tomatoes. Sometimes we serve mushrooms or grilled tomates. But upon request we can serve both. At the peak times, there may be a queue at the omelet station, as we prepare the egg dishes fresh and individually. We try to improve and adapt our service with every feedback from our guests. We would still be delighted if you gave us a second chance and look forward to your next visit to Berlin. Best regards, Your AMERON Hotel Berlin Abion Team

Good hotel nicely located by river Spree. Easy to connect with other parts of the city. Spacious rooms and a bathroom were the water in the shower actually goes down the drain and not onto the bathroom floor.
On the negative, the A/C struggled to keep temperature low at night (was quite hot outside) and 25 euro for breakfast was quite high priced.

I loved my stay in this hotel. I had booked a room with a river view and was delighted by the spacious room with a stunning view over the River Spree and the beautiful historic buildings opposite. The hotel is ideally located just 5 mins walk from Bellevue station with a number of great restaurants to choose from. The neighbourhood is ideal and a great place from which to explore Berlin. Only downside: the restaurant in the hotel is a little pricey and at €25 the breakfast is simply not worth it!

We spent the last three days in this hotel. Breakfast was excellent, however rather expensive at 25 a person, and we were literally kicked out at 10.30h with little chance of finishing our last bite of breakfast.

We booked a family room. The first room we had smelled so strongly of smoke that we requested a different room. Luckily this was available. The rest of our stay we spent here. The rooms, although very spacious are very dusty, broken and old. The bathroom had a terrible smell throughout our stay and a massive crack in the sink. We travel with 2 small children and decided not to request yet another room. There was coffee in the room, but no tea and only occasionally some water.

For the location and reception area, we would have stayed here again if the rooms were better. Although staff is extremely friendly at the restaurant and reception, the level of English is so low that it was difficult to get our wishes across. We ordered extra fries and a coffee, but never received it for example.

Such a beautiful place and location and very nice employees.

Just a few negatives. We had an extra bed set up, and it was very uncomfortable. There is a brochure in the room which offers extra pillows, sleep mask etc. It says just to call, no ‘time limit’ stated, but when we went down and asked for extra pillows at around 9 pm, we were told it wasn’t possible because the housekeeping had left for the day. A fair enough point, if it was clear in the brochure, that the was a from and to time🤷‍♀️

My family and I stayed here in June of 2022. We booked three rooms and the minute we checked in we noticed that the rooms were quite stuffy and humid. We called the front desk and they sent someone up to try and fix it, but instead of fixing it they offered us a fan. We booked and were paying for rooms with air conditioning, not a fan. We were not able to sleep because it was always too hot and stuffy in the rooms. Also, it was not conveniently located. The pictures from the website were a bit misleading. We expected the hotel rooms to be a lot nicer and more comfortable. We tried to cancel the remainng nights and move hotels but unfortunately our reservations were nonrefundable. I would not recommend this hotel.

What train do we get from schonfeld to the hotel we are arriving at 9 pm at the airport
Answer from Graham W
Sydney, Australia194 contributions119 helpful votes
That depends on how quickly you can get through immigration, collect your bags and get to the airport station. Once there seek advice from station staff as to the best train to get as there are a number of different RE and S-bahn routes from there. If the station is unmanned by then your best bet would be to use Google Maps to plot the best public transport option (which by then might be bus). If you don't have an internet-enabled phone, you might want to research all the options between 9:30 and 10. All options involve changes so you might want to take a cab, quicker and safer at that time of night.

We were 7 persons and took a smal van transfer from the airport directly to the hotel . But there is a train from the airport to the hotel .,just 150m away from the hotel is the stop .You have to change trains .Ask in the main station and will get the information. It is very easy to tranfer by train or bus .
