This review is easy to write because this hotel Regent Berlin is as good-as-it-gets. First, the property itself is lovely, with marble floors and walls, elegantly appointed molding and paintwork, artwork, and comfortable lobby and room furnishings. I am told this used to be a Four Seasons property 20 years ago, so they've very good bones. What is unusual is the amount of money management has reinvested. They spend alot on upkeep, and it shows everywhere. The rooms are large, kept meticulously clean, the lighting fixtures sparkle all over the hotel, just lovely. The rooms have proper glassware and small china for beverages and coffee. The bathroom is ample with an excellent showerhead and a private 'water-closet' room. Alot of closet and drawer space in the room. On top of the physical property, the service is 5-star superb. Again, it is more than adequately staffed, with multiple doormen, multiple desk agents, a full-time concierge, plenty of restaurant help. This adds so much value; in a week I never had to wait more than 30 seconds for any assistance. The staff all, by the way, dressed in proper business suits and neckties for the men, and proper suits and skirts for the women employees - a lovely and elegant touch. They are knowledgeable, many have been there for 15 years or more. Nothing is too much trouble. We booked one night and liked it so much we stayed for a week! By the 2nd or 3rd day, the staff would greet me by surname, again, a nice (but rare) touch. The main word that recurs to describe this staff is simply: professional -- whether a doorman or a kid clearing your table. As a small example of the outstanding service, I had to work for a few hours one morning and was not able to go down for proper breakfast, asked my wife to just bring me back a cup of coffee and a bun when she returned. I didn't give it much thought but assumed a paper cup of coffee with a standard plastic lid and a small bag with a bun or bagel inside. Oh, no, what came up as my to-go coffee and bun is shown in the pic attached! The second pic is a sculpture on display among other beautiful artwork, and the last is a small item, almost silly - this was only men's briefs returned from the laundry - but wrapped like a Christmas present when delivered to the room by staff! This is one of the finest hotels I have visited in Europe or anywhere, and you pay a lot more for a lot less elsewhere on the continent. Good location with 40 good restaurants within a two-block walk in all directions, and some very nice, fashionable nearby shopping too, if you like. Breakfast is awesome with a sprawling buffet of whatever you like, from smoked salmon to meats and cheeses to baked goods or a half-dozen cereals. They have an egg chef in the back who does custom omelettes, hot fresh and delicious. As an added plus, they serve breakfast until 10:30am, while some lesser hotel breakfasts conclude at 9:30 or earlier. The hotel restaurant is very good with excellent service, but only open 3 or 4 nights. I will add that the hotel is quiet, not like some others that have alot of meet-ups or music etc. But, unless you prefer a very 'lively' place, this hotel is a home run, and I'd return without hesitation. …
