I have to admit that I was actually nervous checking in. One of the most horrible travel experiences I ever had was right here at the Nhow Berlin. As a New Yorker with an office in Berlin Kreuzberg a 15 minute walk from the hotel I often arrive early in the morning in Berlin. To ensure early check in I had booked my room for the night before and that’s where the problems started. The Nhow receptionist could not find my reservation, immediately assuming that I had no reservation, and when I suggested to look at the reservations for the previous day I got scolded in a way I had never experienced before. I actually was told in the most aggressive way that as I had not showed up there was most likely no room for me available. A room that was actually prepaid. Anyway, no need and no energy to rehash all of this but I never came back.
The only reason I tried again was that all other hotels in the area were fully booked.
So yes, checking in made me nervous, but I was welcomed by the most friendly receptionist who handled all formalities professionally.
The Nhow often has great deals. I happen to find the psychedelic, hopelessly dated ‘hip’ interior appalling but if you can live with pink walls and pink bedding the rooms are actually quite comfortable. The rooms facing the beautiful Spree river are very quiet. Nothing nicer than sleeping with your windows wide open in a big city. Make sure to have breakfast included if you’re a breakfast person. It’s worth every penny. Extensive buffets, healthy and ‘unhealthy’ choices, really a treat. The spa and gym area are fantastic and hardly used by anyone. So give it a shot and just pray that the person who literally yelled at me for ‘not showing up’ found an other job. Interesting how one person can make or break the reputation of a hotel.

Cool and quirky hotel. Loved the decor and theme throughout.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Merce who promptly fixed an issue with our safe.
We had a river view room and the view was great.
The bed was comfy and the room was very spacious, as was the bathroom.
Hairdryer was powerful and there were plenty of mirrors and plugs (and a selfie light!)
Also appreciated the de-mister mirror in the bathroom.
Thought it was really good that you could choose to skip the room cleaning/new towels and receive free drinks vouchers to use in the bar.
Enjoyed the different music themes in the lifts, and appreciated the free water and sweets in the lobby every day!
The location was great - 10 mins down the street from Warschauer street station which has links to the whole city. The S9 from the airport is a direct train that takes about 40 mins. Also really convenient for the Mercedes Benz arena.
Really liked the east side area and enjoyed walking up to Friedrichshain.

Only slight negatives were that the queue at reception at check in/busy times was quite long and the staff were very slow at checking people in. It also took a very long time to order a drink at the bar area. We also chose not to have breakfast at the hotel as we felt it was quite expensive in comparison to cafes in the local area.

Would recommend and would stay again if I was going to the Mercedes Benz arena.

Hey Rockstar, thanks for your great feedback and your praise to our staff. The mirror equipment belongs in Germany to the four star standard. We are glad that you felt comfortable and accepted our offer to to skip the room cleaning for the sake of the environment. Great that you liked our music concept and noticed the small amenities. We will pass on your feedback regarding the check-in to the management. You are welcome to check out the buffet before deciding on breakfast. See you again at nhow Berlin

I really don't ham up. This is our true opinion about this hotel (during corona!)
Room(s): We need a double room and we got two spacy rooms with one binding floor. Very good.
We need very silent rooms and ther were absolute silent. And that in a hotel with one heavy point in music.
The ambiation was really good and interesting for us. Awesome pictures of great artists like Bowie, Prince, Iggy Pop....
And always groovie jazz sound (with a good bass :) )Sometimes it was really hard to sit still during breakfast...
The bar team around Ole and Dennis were very attentive, frindly and helpfully. They round up the evenings outside near the Spree.
The possibilities in berlin are speaking for themselves. You only have to visit them.

Hipster music style hotel that unfortunately has seen its best days. The location is fantastic, directly at the spree, neighbored building is Universal Music, very close too many sights, 200m to the East side gallery, and in walking distance of many great restaurants. But the hotel itself is a little run down, damaged furniture, the card keys system of the door doesn’t work properly, we had to change cards every day, the shower didn’t work properly and the wifi was pretty slow. Price was okay, but definitely not 4 star. In regard to hygiene also a little critical, especially now with covid. Some of the waiters weren’t wearing their masks properly, the people cleaning the rooms none at all. Many guests also only weren’t wearing masks but under the nose at the guest buffet and no one was complaining. We will rather not come again.

When I checked in, my toilet seat had faeces on it. The hotel was sold out so I could not get another room. Someone came to clean it, but 1) how am I supposed to use the toilet knowing what was on the seat and most importantly 2) how on earth does one prepare a room for a check in and there's faeces on the toilet seat?

The rooms are weird and pretty small - weird because the wallpaper above the bed kind of looks like a vagina. The shape of the desk in the room is awful and makes it quite hard to work on.

We booked the hotel for New Years Eve, and while the hotel is in a good location, stands out in terms of colors and futuristic design, there were few things that require attention. Firstly, when I called upfront to book the seats for the end of the year party, they hang up on me twice as they did not yet have details of the event and put me on hold, followed by hanging up without notice, rooms could have been cleaner, the tea maker had mold in it. The party for NYE was rather lame and did not look at all like the pictures they advertise on Instagram or FB. The theme of the party was the 90s, but I did not expect a power outage (to be fair, it did not last long). However there was no entertainment at all. All in all, an OKish hotel that I would not make a big fuss about.

I preferred to let some time pass after our stay to write my opinion in order to remain factual.

I had booked the Berlin Nhow at one of my favourite hotels, I wanted to show it to my family, this hotel always gave me great memories but it was a huge disappointment.
Our one week stay was for the Christmas period, apart from a tree at the hotel reception the Christmas spirit was not there.

An empty hotel with no customers, no atmosphere and the program displayed at the reception was not respected. We came back early from our stroll in town to attend the live piano, it took several people from the hotel to finally tell us that the live would not take place, nor the live guitar scheduled for the next day!

I wrote to the Instagram account to ask what was planned for Christmas in the hotel because I was worried that there was so little organization and communication in the hotel. I was simply told that the restaurant was having a special meal, which I had booked for 4 people on the 24th at 9pm.

Some decorations had been put on the tables for the Christmas dinner, we arrived for 21h at the table, in the restaurant room a table of 3 people who were at dessert and a woman alone, it was the atmosphere of the Christmas dinner on a playlist in loop since the beginning of the week. The meal was served to us very quickly since we were the only customers, but while we were eating the main course, the waiters started to remove the decorations and set up the breakfast tables! In this really unpleasant atmosphere we had our dessert and left around 10:30 pm, I hadn't imagined my Christmas Eve in such conditions!

I would like to thank Richard the concierge who tried by all means to make our stay pleasant by offering us visits and activities outside the hotel.

But for me it's finished the Nhow a Noel in these conditions !!!!

It is such a beautiful hotel - very unique style, music themes and location is hip in former East Berlin.

But unfortunately you feel so expendable as a (returning) guest here - every other hotel remembers you and welcomes you back. Not here, they don't care if you here once or 10 times. Not unfriendly service but no personal interactoon either.
Then we were here to celebrate a birthday but did not get congratulation from the hotel - no special treatment. Sobering experience, not sure I will be back.

There’s lots of nice hotels in Berlin, and 2 things swayed us to stay here: their spa offering couples massages, and being able to have a keyboard in your room during your stay. So we were really disappointed when neither of those things were available during our stay, despite them still being listed on the website. The hotel also had 2 events our first night and was blasting music till 1am - did not expect that when booking our stay. The laundry service is outrageously expensive so we passed on that too, despite having planned on it when booking. Upside - the bathroom in our junior suite was really nice.

Hi Rockstar! We are sad, that our hotel doesn't match your imagination and you checked out with a bad impression. Thanks for your honest words, because it helps us, to manage and overthink our daily music business and the night music sessions. Only a few rooms are able to have a keyboard - if you want them, you need to book them directly. Our SPA doesn't offer massages, please help us with the information where you got this note. Greetings from nhow Berlin Band.

Junior Suite needs desperately renovating - there was hole in the sofa leather, molten burn marks on the table, bedside lamp was not possible to turn off at night, one wall was broken, ceiling light was burned out, aircon was roaring. Front desk answer for my complaint was they do not have money to fix things, they are fully booked and can't change my room and maybe breakfast will help me over.

For a positive side rooms are well soundproofed, design is crazy-eclectic, if you can see river Spree from the window then it is nice, breakfast is good and hotel situates between the Fridrichshain and Kreutzberg.
