Stayed here for almost a week while visiting Caen. Room was comfortable and clean, no complaints. The continental breakfast was sufficient to get the day started. The ability to walk to many of the sites and shops and restaurants around Caen was very nice. The building had old charm and character. Hope to visit Caen again one day and would be happy to stay here again.
Spent three nights at this hotel, the hotel is a very old building with some great period features, don’t expect all shiny new plastic !! , this place has character and charm , it is run by a husband and wife and has a very relaxed atmosphere, it is in a very convenient location only 5 minutes walk from town centre or castle. We had a triple room which was on the top floor in the corner and was very quiet, rooms were cleaned and towels / bedding changed each day. Breakfast is an additional €8 each and definitely worth the money with plenty of choice. They also speak perfect English which is a great help !! , only downside was you cannot check in until 5pm which means you have to carry your baggage around when you arrive !! Overall very good value .
We have been here twice before, this time there were students staying and they played their music loudly until 11.30pm, at least. This spoilt our stay here. We had a Queen-sized bed and a lovely large shower and room though. When we have stayed here before, it has been quiet and not full. At breakfast the croissants were not replenished for a long time and that made breakfast less enjoyable, as everyone was waiting for the croissants to be replenished. We asked about catching a bus back to Quistreham to the Ferry Terminal and were told by the Manager to buy a ticket from the Tabac nearby and then catch a bus to the train station. When I bought a ticket, I was told the same thing, in French. Actually you can still catch a bus from the bus stop opposite where you get off when you arrive in the centre of town. This was very frustrating, as the journey to the train station, then trying to find the right bus, etc, was unnecessary stress.…
This is a small hotel that is in desperate need of updating. The room was small as was the bathroom. There is nobody on the reception desk after 9 pm but that does not really matter as the entire town folds up for the night about that time. Not much better than a hostel.
Stayed here for 6 nights. Had no real complaints as this hotel is exactly what their description says. But beware like the description says there is no lift!! 3 floors of winding stairs!! Other than that, the location was fantastic, breakfast was fair at 8€ and the owners were very helpful and pleasant.
