I absolutely loved staying at this cute little hotel. The decor is very kitchy and adorable. They even painted the elevator with chalkboard paint so visitors can leave messages. We got the cosmopolitan room which is slightly larger than their smallest room. The bed was comfortable. The street is quiet and safe but also conveniently located very close to the Louvre. There are several restaurants and bakeries within easy walking distance. We were able to walk to a lot of tourist sites which was very convenient during the transit strike when the trains were not running. I was so glad I stayed in the first arrondissement. The desk worker was very helpful and spoke English well which was a bonus. Overall highly I recommend it for a young American couple! The only thing I noticed that wasn't perfect was that there was a tiny bit of mold in the shower.

I visited Paris on a solo trip by myself. I arrived very early, (from red-eye) so my room was not quite ready yet. The front desk allowed me to check my bag and gave me on what to do (the strike was happening so the train did not run as often as I needed it to). By the time I returned they had already taken my bags up to my room for me! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff here. They were exceptional! I booked a room for a single person. It was just that. Big enough for me, and my things, but it would not have been shareable. I did not plan on staying in the room much, so this was good for me. The room was very clean and had everything I needed (coffee, shower, toilet, safe etc.) I was quite happy with the location of this hotel. It was quiet enough where I didn't hear sirens going off all the time. Additionally, it was safe. I felt comfortable as a single woman walking through the neighborhood at night. The three-block walk to the Lourve was good and got me where I needed to go. It is also easy walking distance to the theater area and the shopping area. When I was visiting other areas over my trip, I noticed there were hotels that were in more "happening" places. I am grateful I chose this one. It provided me a much-needed break from a stimulus of tourists. I know there were other guests on my floor but I could not hear them. The character of the hotel in terms of the decor was fantastic. There are a couple of delicious places to eat within 5 blocks. I think as a tourist I kept looking south and west for things, but I am happy I found places north and to the east. Two places worth checking out just a stones throw away are Les Fines Gueules, and The Loup. They had food available for breakfast and dinner. While I knew it was an option, and it did look delicious as many other people were eating it, I chose not to because I was simply restless and wanted to get out and walk. The front desk people were exceptional. I tried my French every day, and they were kind. They were also able to then switch to English when I became frustrated. I am extremely grateful. They provided great suggestions in terms of locations for me to try different things and were extremely supportive of helping me write (I had a broken hand and couldn't sign very legibly). Every day when I returned from my outings they were welcoming and nice. It was lovely. One unexpected bonus of my stay was their wine machine in the lobby. I loved that I could have a glass of wine at night and take it up to my room while I unwound. I have already recommended it to my friends who are looking at going, and I would definitely stay there again.

The room was impressive, funky and modern but small. The location was excellent. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was quite basic but tasty. Well I liked the kitchen area it was cute and cosy. There are also some nice cafes nearby.

We chose this hotel because of it’s ideal location to Les Tuileries and the Musée de L’Orangerie. We were then absolutely thrilled to find jewel of a place. It’s a delightful and quirky little hotel full of color and style. Our room was a bit small, but very comfy bed and had a lovely shower with delightful sparky lights. Continental breakfast of cold cuts, cheeses, hard/boiled eggs, bread, croissants, small cinnamon buns, along with coffee or hot chocolate and juice could be had for a cost added the room price. All self-served in the delightful decorated area off to the side of the reception, where later in the day a good selection of wines could be purchased by the glass. The staff was very friendly and helpful and seemed to truly enjoy working there. All in all, our stay at Le Crayon Rouge was a very delightful experience and we can highly recommend it.

We chose here because it looked amazing in the pictures we saw. A place with it's own character rather than the sterile corporate feel of most hotels. This Hotel is a real gem, artsy and delightfully quirky. Lovely rooms, albeit our room was a little small, but we were barely in it so never mind! The room itself was clean and had a lovely shower. The staff here are all super friendly and helpful, and really have a family feel about them. Finally, the hotel is set in a great location, with quick access to many great places.
