Exactly one year ago today, as the first wave of the pandemic was slowly descending upon us, my adolescent daughter and I arrived at Hotel Henri IV for what would be a week of extraordinary events in France as a few short days later, Paris went into its first full pandemic lockdown. As we were all facing shifting rules and closures by the hour, the staff at this hotel and its owner demonstrated competence, diligence and essentially, did everything possible to permit us to adapt to the circumstances. For instance, when the French government required one to carry a form to present to the authorities when venturing out for an errand or a stroll, the hotel staff printed the form for my daughter and I almost as soon as it was issued by the government so that we would not be caught by surprise if approached by law enforcement. When the day of our departure came and it was unclear whether we would be permitted to leave the country or if our flight may be cancelled, prior to taking the taxi to the airport, the hotel manager told me that should we be turned away from the airport for whatever reason, not to hesitate to return to the hotel and they would assist us in figuring out what to do next, all the while continuing to offer very comfortable accommodation. On a different non-pandemic note, I can vouch for the positive comments in relation to the cleanliness, the attractive rooms, the service-oriented staff and overall, very pleasant ambiance of this hotel. The neighborhood is simply delightful. It was my daughter's first trip to Europe and while it was disappointing that so many of our planned visits to typical Paris tourist attractions were cancelled due to the pandemic, we were able to thoroughly enjoy walking for hours and taking in the many sights close by the hotel. Despite the rather trying circumstances of that trip, my daughter has been asking when we can return to Paris. I have promised her that when COVID is a distant memory, we will, and when we do, we'll certainly be staying at this hotel again.

Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche I am indeed an avid fan of this hotel, not only for its location but the people that made so much of difference on our stays. This is the 2nd time we have returned to them, despite last minute changes to our hotel booking, and the choice was still to go back to this fellas. What can I say about this place? For most of the reviews giving 4/5 stars the hotel, they are true. For us, it’s the sense of belonging and how this hotel, still was in Aug19, created a home away from home ambience. How do I know? My kids felt right at home and we are not French speakers. This says a lot, and in the minimal correspondences with the Pantry/Kitchen during breakfast time, or hailing for a cab to send us around town, or even getting recommendation for nearby food eateries, the people working here made the those difference for us. The attractions nearby, the morning Sunday bell ringing from the opposite Catholic church, the impromptu dancing of whom I believe to Latin American people 1 street away, just gave such zest to the place. Mind you, at this point of time, we could not access to the Notre Dame due to fire, and yet we fitted in like a glove. So the entire location creates that ambience, and when we return to the hotel – arhhhh it really was like home. We had 2 rooms, yes because we booked late hence we couldn’t get back the old room, but it was very manageable. The rooms were comfortable, the girls had a jolly time doing girly stuff while the boys hung out and just chatted. We had the windowed rooms and we could just gaze onto the busy street, and people watch. Isn't that what you also do when you are in Paris? People watching ... Everything in the rooms were working. The beds were soft and great comfort for rest after a full day of galivanting in the city. The services were great – we made so many friends with the front desk and whilst at night, there was an elderly man greeting us with such warmth. Pertaining to professionalism, I thought they are very sensible and professional in all their dealings. Not that I want to brag, the hotel was fair enough to refunded me for the nights that we could not stay due to trip curtailment, and I have always been grateful for them to be so. Of course, if it’s a non-refundable rate, I would not have expected them to return – but they extended that very kind gesture to us, then. I always ask myself, how do I give a fair and decent review especially it’s all matter of angles - I would ask myself if I would return to this hotel despite having to invest a lot of money and missed out on trying other hotels. For that, I know I will always want to return to this hotel, anytime we are in Paris. There is absolutely nothing to complain about them. I hope to see you again, sometime in the future – where COVID19 won’t impact the world anymore. Au revoir et à bientôt!

Booked a non-refundable stay with them for 4/2/20-4/3/20 confirmation 209-326-403-20. Their website shows you can't even book these dates now. I can't get into France due to lockdowns. They won't refund the money and cannot honor the reservation. Not a trust worthy company.

Perfect boutique hotel close to food and shopping. Loved the room setup but the room was SO noisy, another room had a crying child that sounded as if it were in the room with us. Staff was amazing, taxi pickup was on time and fair priced.
