Detailed Reviews
New Marriott/Bonvoy group hotel opened within five minutes easy walking distance from Picadilly train and trams and Picadilly Gardens bus stops and all Central Manchester amenities.
Made to feel very welcome on arrival. Rooms have a modern design with adequate storage, bathroom with “rain” shower, and both fresh coffee and tea (kettle) provided. The TV has lots of additional channels, including several Sky Sports options. Bed is very comfortable with a soft, but warm duvet and great pillows.
The restaurant offering is somewhat different as a selection of “small plates” are offered tapas style. This probably works well with a group but is not so good for the single traveller. There are no traditional options (such as burgers, fish and chips, steaks, salads, etc) either in the restaurant or bar or on the room service menu. Nevertheless the staff are welcoming and the food tasty with a typical hotel price tag. The facilities seem poorly used in the evenings and if there were more diners, then the place would feel more alive. I enjoyed breakfast which was cooked freshly to order, with great coffee and plenty of fruit, cereal and bread selections on the buffet.
The hotel works very well if visiting Central Manchester and travelling into Piccadilly and I will definitely return for the location, comfort and friendly staff.

Dear yhi904, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and detailed review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed our location and found our proximity to Piccadilly Station, trams, and central Manchester amenities convenient for your visit. It’s wonderful to hear you felt warmly welcomed upon arrival and enjoyed the room amenities, from the rain shower and in-room coffee and tea options to the comfortable bedding and wide range of TV channels. We aim to create a space that feels modern and relaxing, so we’re pleased that these features added to your stay. We also appreciate your feedback on our restaurant offerings. Our small-plates menu is designed to create a shared dining experience, though we understand that single travellers may prefer more traditional options. Your insights are incredibly valuable, and we’ll certainly take them into consideration to create a more lively and inviting atmosphere in the evenings. It’s fantastic to hear you enjoyed the freshly prepared breakfast and that our selection of coffee, fruits, and cereals met your expectations. We’re grateful for your kind words about our staff’s hospitality as well, they’ll be thrilled to know they made a positive impact on your stay. Thank you once again for your lovely review and for choosing to stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back for another comfortable and enjoyable stay whenever you’re in Manchester. Warm regards, Pedro Santos Front Office Manager The Reach at Piccadilly - A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Despite a ridiculous pre-arrival email (presumably the responsibility of a buffoon at Group rather than Hotel level), our stay here was otherwise pretty much as good as it gets.
My Platinum status was recognised on arrival by the outstanding, friendly and extremely well organised female receptionist (no name badge so no name check) who made us very welcome on our short visit back 'home' to see family. She also dealt with a room amenities request with remarkable efficiency and her usual charm.
There were a handful of small glitches with the room but nothing of any substance that spoilt our stay. Everything is shiny and new as you would expect, but fixtures, fittings and toiletries have all been chosen with care and some expense: there is no style over substance here: the room functions well and provides a peaceful, relaxing stay.
Particular credit to the hotel for providing HD TV with a comprehensive selection of SKY channels, including all the SKY and TNT sports which so many other Manchester hotels fail to do. Although the hotel is ideally located to serve visitors to the home of the Four-in-a-Row Premier League Champions, if they're playing away from The Etihad, you'll be able to watch from the comfort of your room.
We paid under £100 a night which was outstanding value.
Location is particularly good for arrivals into Piccadilly Station as you are able to avoid the shameful Piccadilly Gardens - a blight that Manchester Council has failed to address in the forty years since I moved to another city - by walking into/from the City Centre via Dale Street.
Checkout was equally seamless and friendly although again, no badge so no name check.
In summary: really good; many thanks to all.

This is a new hotel within a couple of minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. The rooms are quite compact with limited storage space but are fine for a short stay. As it is new, all the facilities are in very good condition. The bathroom has a very good walk-in shower and a mirror that doesn't get steamed up. The towels are nice and fluffy. It would have been helpful if a toilet brush had been provided given the design of the toilet! The bed was harder than I would like but not too hard. The breakfast buffet appeared limited but actually it had everything I needed - several cereals, fresh fruit, bread, croissants, jam, fruit juice and hot drinks. You can also choose one hot dish from an extensive menu. The food was excellent quality. There are lots of staff who are very friendly and keen to provide good service. Overall I would say that this is an excellent hotel.

I was disappointed with our stay at The Reach this weekend. While the location of the hotel is very handy for Piccadilly Station, and the decor is very modern and fresh, the value for money I feel was poor for the room that we got during our stay.
We booked a 2 x Double Deluxe rooms with a City View at £215 per room per night. When we arrived at the room after a slow check-in, we found that our rooms (225 and 227) were small, dark and in one of the rooms the layout was just bizarre - with no window in the main bed area and a small tight walkway down to the wardrobe. I do not think these rooms were deluxe - you could barely see out the window in 227 because the glass had already blown.
I did ask reception if there were any alternative rooms that we could move to as the rooms were very different to what was advertised and we were offered a swap for one, which we were grateful for (albeit the window situation didn’t improve and so the new room (215) was still very dark).
It was a shame we couldn’t also move the other (227) as the air con didn’t work very well in that room, and the shower was also plumbed in wrong (the rainfall and hose were the wrong way round on the tap) so overall not a great room experience.
I think had we booked a room with a balcony or a suite, our experience would’ve been very different. Those rooms look to have a lot more natural light and a more comfortable layout.

Dear Charlotte W, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at The Reach. We sincerely apologize that your recent stay did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’re disappointed to hear that our service and room arrangements left you unsatisfied. We’re glad you appreciated our convenient location and modern decor, but it’s clear that several aspects of your stay fell short, particularly regarding room layout and functionality. Our Deluxe City View rooms are designed with comfort and style in mind, and we apologize that Room 227 did not meet these standards. The window and air conditioning issues you described, as well as the shower arrangement, should not have impacted your experience, and we’ll be addressing these concerns with our maintenance team immediately. While we’re pleased our team could offer an alternative room, we understand this adjustment didn’t fully resolve the lack of natural light and room size that you were expecting. Should you consider staying with us again, we’d love the chance to provide you with a more comfortable stay. Our suites and balcony rooms do indeed offer additional light and space, and we would be happy to discuss room options with you directly to find the best match for your needs. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We hope to welcome you back to a much-improved experience at The Reach. The Reach at Piccadilly is a new hotel and hence residents have all the benefits that this affords – good sized, well-appointed rooms, a bar and restaurant. It offers what they describe as a “superb breakfast” and this indeed is the case with a wide range of cereals, drinks, bread, fruit together with a freshly made cooked breakfast – quite delightful and would set you up for the day.
The hotel is wonderfully located in the centre of Manchester with shops, bars entertainment etc. close by and yet, it offers a safe and peaceful haven from city noise. The staff throughout the hotel are attentive and personable and willing to help with local attractions, directions travel arrangements etc.
We will have the need to revisit Manchester on a few occasions in the future and would , without doubt, choose to return to The Reach at Piccadilly – highly recommended!

Whilst our room was comfortable, if not slightly small, and decorated to a high standard, I won’t be returning nor recommending this hotel or any other in the Marriott chain.
This is for two reasons - firstly, the checkin process was a farce, with a 30 minute wait whilst a handful of people in front of us queued to be checked in.
Secondly, I am not comfortable with regards to how well my financial data is stored and used. On check in, we were asked if we would like to keep a card on account for a tab. We declined stating we would prefer to pay as we go. I then added on and paid for breakfast on my card - having booked through a third party, this is the only occasion my card was used at the hotel. We checked out the following morning. 30 minutes later I received a text message to state I had gone overdrawn - this was unexpected and so I checked why. It transpires that the hotel had taken payment for the hotel room, despite me having already paid in full prior to our stay. This concerned me for two reasons - the first being that £255 was taken from my account and (upon calling the hotel to query and be issued a refund on the wrongly taken payment) I was informed it would take 3-5 days to return to my account. Leaving me in a chargeable overdraft through no fault of my own. Secondly, I had not only not authorised this payment, but I had clearly stated I did not want my card kept on file for future payments. A request that was ignored and resulted in an unauthorised payment been taken.
I have been in touch with the hotel chain group - who said that they would get someone from the hotel to be in touch. No one has been in touch and my emails have been ignored by head office.
Poor form on both parts.

Dear jcX9759CI, Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused during your stay and the frustration surrounding the payment error. As discussed privately, we want to reassure you that your data has been handled in full compliance with GDPR regulations. The double charge was due to an error during checkout, not a breach of your financial data. While the refund was processed promptly on our end, the 3-5 day delay for the funds to return to your account is due to standard bank processing times, which we regret caused you additional inconvenience. As a gesture of goodwill, we have refunded both your stay and breakfast. Your concerns about our check-in process and communication have been noted, and we are working to improve these areas to prevent future issues. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any further questions. Kind Regards Adelina Misina Head of Guest Experience

Me and my wife had a wonderful stay at the Reach for her birthday.
From the moment of checking in at the open and spacious but cosy reception and bar area we had an amazing stay.
We were lucky enough to receive a “history lesson” from Nathaniel who was so knowledgeable on the workings of the canal lock that’s situated outside of the floor to ceiling windows in the restaurant, a real niche experience which set the place apart from any other hotel I’ve stayed in before, it’s amazing how proud he is of the place. Amazing.
The rooms were cosy and modern and the shower probably the best I’ve used, we slept so well.
And to top it all off the 2 course breakfast was amazing all whilst being hosted by Maurice who has a superb way of making you feel relaxed and well looked after.
We have already booked to return in December, which we both can’t wait!

This new hotel is SO well-located, on a quiet side street just around the corner from Piccadilly Station. There are several excellent restaurants just steps away, and it’s an easy walk to the center of town.
Our room was stylish, quiet, and its design made fairly good use of limited space. Bed & bed linens were very comfortable. Bath towels were large and thick. Another plus was a very good breakfast, with cooked-to-order entrees and a nice buffet of breads, fruit, cereals, etc. Staff is very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful.
A few negatives: The shower does not have a door, making it impossible to keep the bathroom from flooding. There’s no outlet near any mirror for drying hair. The lighting could be better: bathroom lighting is very dim, & there’s no light for the desk or clothes rack. Maid service is hit or miss. They tended to do half the job, and didn’t finish until the evening, when we wanted to be in our room. Would I stay here again? Probably.

I have recently returned to The Reach for my second stay in two months - and will be booking again soon. The hotel offers great vibes for any occasion/trip type in a fab location that's just the right amount of distance away from Manchester's hustle and bustle, but close enough to be in walking distance of bars, shops and entertainment. All the staff greet you with a friendly smile and genuinely seem to want to make your stay special. Particular thanks to Nathaniel who gave my friends and I some recommendations of decent bars to go to which I felt really added to our experience, and Kate who made sure we were well looked after during breakfast. Breakfast was made to order which I thought was really classy, not to mention delicious! The room itself was stylish, comfortable and love the little touch of refreshments/drink station. Cannot wait to return again!
