There is free car parking which is a great plus point.
The staff were excellent. Helga in particular was an absolute star.
The room was immaculately clean.
There is only 30 minutes free WIFI then you have to pay £3 for two devices for 24 hours.
The price for me was only £37 which was great value.
The location is about 30 minutes walk from the city centre, and there is plenty of buses passing on the main road. You are also about 10-15 minutes' drive from Manchester airport.
I will definitely stay here again, and I would definitely recommend this place to others looking for a budget hotel on the outskirts of the city centre with free car parking.
The next day I went to reception to ask for tea milk and towels, I asked the lady if I could have a few extra milk as I drink milky tea and asked for bath and hand towels. I was told they will be brought up. Lady came to my room and dumped towels and tea on the FLOOR outside!!! In times of Covid use a plastic bag!!! There was only 2 tiny milk sachets so I called to the lady and asked if I could get a few more as I drink multiple drinks a day, she said no, you’re only allowed 2. She was so rude and dismissive. And I asked about the hand towels and the lady said we don’t have hand towels!! This is ridiculous what type of hotel doesn’t have milk and towels. Please avoid travelodge hotels at all cost, use premier inn hotels, I always have a much better experience with premier inn. Rude lady’s name who I spoke with was something like Sarah or began with S. Avoid this hotel at all costs.
On the fourth floor, we had a room at the far end of our corridor. The room was very small, standard sized bed with one desk, one chair, hangers to put clothes on but nothing else so for 12 nights, most of our work stuff was on the floor. We've stayed on the business floors at other travelodges but this one, fell well below the standard of a business floor.
The current travelodge policy during covid, rooms are cleaned once you've stayed 6 nights. We stayed 12 nights so our room was cleaned only once. I think they need to review this, every 4 nights would have been better. Having to work 12 hour shifts then coming back to our hotel room to bleach the toilet & clean shower etc isn't what you should have to do.
Another bad point of this hotel is the diabolical parking. They offer 70 spaces free, however, they do not take car reg numbers on arrival which is ridiculous. On several nights, we returned to find cars/Van's parked over 2 bays each, vehicles blocking the exit, cars parked all over, it was an absolute joke & nothing the staff could do as they don't take the reg numbers for each room.
It really was a struggle using this hotel for 12 nights. The reception staff were great, very helpful getting us towels, supplies etc but the travelodge needs to look at the parking & the cleaning schedule
We got back to the hotel around 11:30pm and didn’t get to sleep until gone 3am due to the constant footsteps from corridors above us and people running around the hotel. Being right across the road from the hospital meant we heard sirens all night too, which can’t be helped but proved that sound proofing is non-existent in this hotel. We could hear the road crossings beeping all night as well.
The lighting in the room wasn’t great either, and the tv needed re-tuning every time it was turned on. The corridors also smelled unpleasant and the lifts seemed a bit dodgy.
The only decent thing about the room was the shower, the pressure was good and it was easy to control the heat.
Overall, this Travelodge was so poor! It cost us £127 for ONE night, it’s an absolute joke and 100% not worth that much money. The only reason we booked here was to go to a gig, but because the Christmas markets are on they think it’s alright to rip people off. The week before we stayed here, we stayed in a Travelodge in central London for £156 for 2 nights (which included breakfast and was a super room) and it was fab! I don’t understand how the quality of these hotels can be so different. Will not be staying here again and wouldn’t recommend at all!
I am a life-long non-smoker so I can only imagine that the room was not cleaned appropriately before my stay or that they are fishing for £150.
I had planned to stay here for another 10 months but will not be considering staying at a Travelodge ever again.
(A quick google search suggests that this is a common accusation for Travelodge to make. Please do not engage)
The hotel staff willingly printed some documents for me.
A brilliant stay all round. This hotel will be my first choice should I need to go back.
