Gardens Hotel Manchester is often recognized for its well-equipped rooms that provide a comfortable stay with modern amenities, although some guests miss having a fridge or air conditioning. While reviews about value and service vary, with some noting friendly staff and others experiencing less satisfactory interactions, the hotel's cleanliness consistently earns praise, particularly for the well-maintained rooms and bathrooms.
Despite some calls for room refurbishment and noise concerns, the hotel's prime location near key transport links and attractions is a highlight for many travelers.

Stayed at this Hotel first the staff are friendly and booking was fairly easy you will need photo I.d
My room was basic with no window ! The basin in the bathroom was cracked and well worn .
The overhaul of the hotel was old with bare carpet in places .
The best thing is the location it’s situated in Piccadilly gardens a stone throw away from the station and the city centre again anther pass was key card worked , entry and exit no problem .
I biggest gripe was being woken at 7am to the sound of hovering and banging of doors from cleaners so don’t expect a lie in ?
Would I stay here again probably not . It’s a fair price £44 per night but would personally pay a bit more next time for somewhere a bit more modern .

Although an older property, it was very clean and my room had recently been refurbished. The continental breakfast was pretty basic but as the total cost of my stay was less than £40, I'm not complaining! Staff were very helpful and the room had everything I could have wanted - free wifi, tea and coffee, hairdryer, iron and board. The location was perfect for my purpose, being just 5 minutes walk from the station and less than 1 minute from where my appointment was. I will certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be in the centre of town.

The location of this hotel can't be beaten really, you are literally in the very centre, a few minutes walk from Piccadilly station. The hotel looks a bit dated, and the rooms on the higher floors, like ours, involve some flights of stairs even when using the lift. Overall, it would benefit from a bit of modernising, but aside from that the hotel was very clean, quiet and we had a great stay. The room was very spacious, an unexpected surprise in that location, and the personnel has always been very kind and keen on helping and providing information, and were well happy to keep our luggage in storage after the check out. We really felt like appreciated customers, even when asking for help/information in the middle of the night we were treated with a smile.

Stay here often. Most staff very helpful. One staff member on reception is always rude and dismissive. Often if I arrive before 2pm asked on when my train gets in other staff are very helpful and check if a room is available , today a very polite man on reception did so and confirmed it will be soon please take a seat and he will call me 1:15pm). I enquired 1:30 after popping to buy water and this rude dismissive women again just point blank stated no can’t check in until after 2-3pm.... totally different to her colleague -

Thank you for the feedback following your recent stay with us, I am sorry that you feel our receptionist was dismissive and rude towards you, I am sure this was not intentional. This week we are having essential water repairs carried out and there has been no water onsite from 10am until 4pm and in order to reduce the amount of disruption to our guests we took the decision to not check guests in earlier than 2pm. As you had arrived earlier and already been advised this, I believe that they were just repeating this information to you, however I wasnt present at the conversation, therefore are unable to determine the manner in which this was relayed to you. I apologise if this did not seem courteous. As a management team, we review all feedback from our customers so that we can make improvements if required. I hope that this does not deter you from returning to the hotel in the future. Kind regards Katy Ashby, General Manager

Another day, another last minute booking in the only place I could afford. This time, the compromise I had to make involved booking a room with no window so it was cheaper. However, if you’re OK with that, this was actually a decent hotel.
The location is right in the heart of the action and an easy walk to most of the main landmarks and all the public transport you could wish for. The staff are helpful. I used their luggage room prior to check-in because I got into Manchester before 9am and they even looked to see if there was a room already available: there wasn’t, but I wasn’t expecting them even to check.
The room itself was well equipped, with a luggage rack, an ironing board and iron, tea and coffee facilities, a hairdryer and a fan to mitigate the effects of not having a window. There were a few marks on the wall and some random holes in the mirror frame, but mostly the décor was comfortable and tasteful. The room also had 2 advantages of old-fashioned hotel rooms: a shower powerful enough to wash hair products out quickly and relatively few irritating notices telling you to do this and not that.
However, one thing likely to frustrate the modern traveller is the relative lack of sockets. Once the lamps and fans are taken into account, both of which are necessary whenever you’re there if you’re in one of the rooms with no windows, there is one socket that must serve for TV, kettle, iron, hairdryer and whatever electronics you bring with you. With my Nokia that only needs charging once a week, I managed, but it was still a bit irritating not being able to make a cuppa when my laptop had to be plugged in. Those with a host of devices that need charging regularly will struggle.
This hotel may not be for everyone: as well as tech addicts, people in wheelchairs would be better advised to look elsewhere as there are steps up to the main entrance and the lift doors are narrow. Nonetheless, if you want to be right in the city centre for a reasonable price considering all the services provided, it’s a satisfactory option.

Had a couple of nights here in March 2022. Booked directly through their website and got in touch in advance to make sure I could get a room with a bathtub. I was told by email that most rooms had a tub so I could just make it a note of it when making the reservation. Turns out I got one of the rooms with our bathtubs.
I was able to check in early which was lovely, the room was clean and the reception staff were friendly and helpful.
The bed was comfy, but it did have an annoying screw on the side that ripped a hole in my leggings.
The location is very central and I was able to walk to wherever In needed to go during the day.

Stayed here with my friend for one night we were visiting from London and wanted somewhere central to stay. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again, it is in need of a refurb, there was a bad smell in the corridors of the 3rd floor where our room was when we arrived, the carpets were worn in a lot of places and it looked very dated . We had a double room with a window, it was clean but again very outdated.
The rooms are boiling and windows only open so far, our room was very small and felt claustrophobic.bathroom was very outdated as was most of the furniture in the room. The bed however was very comfy.
The Hotel was very noisy in the morning from about 6am, cleaners were going up and down, doors were being slammed and the floorboards are very creaky and you can hear everything above you. Me and my friend woke up very early and hardly got any sleep
Location is very good though, and the hotel is secure it is locked after a certain time and you have to say your name and room number at the door. We noticed a few ppl trying to get in who weren’t staying at the hotel and got turned away. They also are very hot on people who aren’t staying there hanging around the door and on the steps and we heard ppl being told move via the CCTV.
It was okay for one night due to the location however it wasn’t the best and I wouldn’t return but it was cheap and you get what you pay for

Just come back after a night in this hotel. This hotel is in a great location. It’s very tired the carpets are very worn and the lighting in our room was very dull as it didn’t have a ceiling light only a standard lamp and two small bed side lamps which also weren’t very bright. Our room didn’t have a window so we couldn’t get any fresh air. They do have a fan so if you were hot then this would be useful. They have tea making facilities a hairdryer and a shower over a bath . They provide towels ,soap and hair and body wash . I would say it was clean. The Wi-Fi wasn’t brilliant. They had a bar but nobody to man it whilst we were there. you could also hear everyone coming and going I think it was overpriced. It was a marathon and football weekend so not a lot of choice when we came to book . I would not recommend this hotel.

I'm sorry to hear however that you did experience some negatives during your stay with us. I have made note of these and will pass them on to the relevant departments and seen they get looked into. Stayed at the garden Hotel for a last minute mid-week break. 1st problem no water between 10am and 4pm staff apologised. 2nd and major problem we had a mouse/rat run out of our room. Staff moved us, to a new room and at our request provided a full refund. Would not recommend staying here unless it's the only option in your budget the rooms without windows suffer from smelling of damp as soon as you enter. AVOID!!! credit to the staff they are doing their best with what they have.

We had a lovely room at the front of the property so had a good view of the area near Picadilly Gardens. The room was decorated brilliantly, plenty of comfortable pillows and extra seating so not always having to sit on the bed as with other hotels. Facilities in our room were very clean and plenty of attention had been given by the housekeeping staff.
The reception staff offered some great advice on travelling to a music venue and happily obliged when we asked to leave our luggage until our transport home later in the day.
Breakfast was plenty, varied and delicious, again the restaurant staff were very welcoming.
Would definitely seek to use this hotel again, ahead of other "chain" hotels.

Yes, there's a lift. There's a bar. Not sure how late it's open. But it's on Piccadilly Gardens, so lots of bars around.
5-10 mins walk from piccadilly station. Not sure about etihad. Hotel bang in middle of city where water fountains are.
