Central location, clean budget hotel. Visited 30 Nov and heating was broke in bedrooms. Never been so cold in a hotel room. First day of having to wear a mask and shocked that not one member of staff had them on. Good selection at breakfast buffet.

Hotel's Favourite
Having read the recent reviews of this hotel I approached our stay with some trepidation. However all was well. Check-in took about one minute, our room was perfectly clean and the breakfast, while considerably poorer than normal in an Ibis, was more than adequate. The room carpet sure has an incongruous pattern but it does not detract from the stay. The adjoining cafe/bar was very nice with excellent staff. A special mention to the fellow whose name I did not get unfortunately but he is a student at Warwick University. He served at breakfast and in the bar and he was hard working and charm personified. Finally the location right in the city centre is an 11/10.

We stayed on the weekend (Saturday 27th Nov 2021). We got no sleep at all, firstly the fire alarm went off at 1-10 am and woke up the whole hotel. We started to evacuate but then the alarm just stopped - there was no apology from staff. Eventually we got back to sleep to be woken up by 2 separate rooms having parties, we were up from 4am until 6-45am it eventually stopped. the other guests were screaming, shouting, working in and out of their rooms and also one of the parties had constant visitors banging on the door. I phoned reception at 5 am but no answer. My partner went on the corridor to ask them to be quiet but the noise continued. We paid £130 for one night and expected to at least sleep. What an awful experience for my birthday weekend.

I booked this hotel as it was close to a conference venue I was attending. I checked in (Reception is a wooden desk), went to my room and was so disappointed at the decor, the peeling paint on the walls, carpet that I couldn’t step on and the general feeling of uncleanliness. I just knew that I would not be able to stay somewhere like this! Luckily I was able to contact the booking company and asked if I could be moved to a nearby hotel and was booked into the Doubletree.

On check in it was quite disorganised. 2 members of staff dealing with a large queue in the main foyer. Originally given rooms 530 and 531. On arriving at our rooms we were met with black mould on windows and curtains and also on bathroom ceiling. Horrendous smell and broken furniture. Spoke to duty manager who moved us to 2 other rooms on same floor which were cleaner but not exactly totally free of dust and grime. No heating in either room as the heating system is in need of attention. Hotel is generally in need of a deep clean everywhere. All public areas are looking grubby and worn. Got up on first morning to be told I needed to pay for the breakfasts that I had actually paid for on check in. Good job I kept the receipts. Staff are unhelpful. Bar area was chaos as nobody seemed to have a clue what they were doing and service was a joke. Noise at night, through the night till around 4am. Woken up at 1:10am this morning, by fire alarm which was quickly turned off with no explanation. Not what we expected from an Ibis and certainly won't be booking again.
