The Dakota Manchester stands out for its stylish atmosphere and prime location, with many travelers lauding the well-furnished, clean rooms with luxurious touches. While the hotel's service and high-quality dining options earn praise, some guests have called out service inconsistencies and the lack of certain amenities. The room quality is appreciated, yet some reviewers warn of noise disturbances and extra costs. Despite mixed sentiments on value, the Dakota's cleanliness and comfortable ambiance frequently receive positive remarks.

We booked a mid week couples overnight stay dinner bed and breakfast £175 for our wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome, the valet parking was seamless with bags taken directly to our beautiful room and check in was quick and very friendly. Our room was a standard room but it was lovely and very comfortable with all amenities we required and even the extra touches of a note from the manager with chocolates for our anniversary. The attention to detail with all staff wearing masks and free masks available at the door, hand sanitising stations and appropriate signage, with regular sanitising of surfaces was excellent. The hotel is impeccable with a very modern luxurious feel but with cosy areas and has a lovely bar, terrace and outdoor covered cigar terrace. The restaurant was lovely for our evening meal where the food presentation and taste was excellent. The breakfast menu was fantastic, The staff were always attentive chatty and very knowledgeable where needed. We have had a fabulous stay and it exceeded our expectations. We will be returning and recommend to anyone that it is a lovely place to stay.

I stayed at the Dakota Manchester last night 15/1/20 for the first time and wasn’t disappointed. After what seemed like an endless meeting at work I travelled to Manchester and was so tired so I will point out I didn’t use the bar or restaurant and this hotel was still amazing just from the room.

I walked in and though this place is so chic I worried I wasn’t fancy enough to stay in this hotel but my worries were put aside by the warm welcome from the two lovely ladies on reception.

I went straight to my room and was so impressed by how cozy it was. The decor was very “New York” I had a view of the canal and sat watching the ducks swimming. The bed was huge and cozy and the amenities were all Dakota branded and very lovely but it was small things that made the difference that you may not notice at first glance but a lot of other hotels wouldn’t think of.

I took a shower in the rainfall shower and there were two bath towels but under the sink was a hamper with extra towels, face cloths and toilet rolls to use rather than calling room service. The desk area had a slate that you can use to sit hot hair straighteners on. Even the tea/coffee station had an extra little dish to put used teabags. The desk area had a media hub where you can plug in your own gadgets and stream to the flat screen

The hotel was very quiet and I had a brilliant night sleep. I was out like a light.

Everything in the room was so good I actually started looking for faults or something out of place and there was nothing. Not a speck of dust or a dirty glass in sight

Can’t wait to go back again and try the bar and grill

This hotel is rated #1 in Manchester on Trip Advisor and they deserve it!

Hotel: very very luxurious with every detail thought of (even down to detail in the lifts!), extremely clean, staff so welcoming and friendly, location is perfect near Piccadilly station, two car parks 30 seconds walk (£15 for 24 hours) or on-site parking too.

We had a Signature Suite, huge bedroom/seating area, bed could easily fit 4 people in, lovely lit up wardrobe with plenty of space, desk/dressing area and also a sofa & chair and table, the suite also had 2 bathrooms! The air con worked amazing. Huge heavy wooden & glass oriental style sliding doors separated the different areas of the suite which was another touch of luxury not just basic doors.
Room was extremely clean and had a ripping sticker on the door when waking in so you know it was freshly sanitised too.

One bathroom had a free standing bath and dressing area and the other with a shower which was also a mini steam room with seat inside and heated flooring. Everything was thought of - room included Bulgari toiletries and Dakota toiletries (both great quality and triple the size of other hotels toiletries), slippers & robe, Nespresso machine & pods, regular coffee packets & tea too, complimentary stocked mini bar, full Sky TV package. I believe the complementary mini bar and robes are only in the Suites but available on request, either way this wouldn’t make or break the experience!

In the morning we had breakfast delivered to our room (Tier 3 when visiting so restaurant was closed for dining in) we paid £15pp and had huge tray of food brought to us. 2x everything - sausage sandwiches, fruit pots, croissants, pain au chocolats, granola with yoghurt and orange juice. It’s like the breakfast buffet came to us.

Would highly recommend staying in this hotel if you are visiting Manchester!! We will definitely be coming back once restrictions are lifted so we can experience the Dakota restaurant & grill and stay over again.

Horrible experience at the hotel.

I'd stayed here a couple of times prior to this trip and have very much enjoyed my visits. So I suggested to my partner that we stay here for his birthday weekend in January.

We left our room at 12.30 on the Saturday afternoon, the room hadn’t been serviced at this point. We returned at around 18.00 to find the room had been serviced and two Thomas Sabo rings that had left on the table by the window, had been removed.

We reported this to the reception desk and they said they would contact housekeeping to see if anything had been found.
On Sunday morning before we checked out, we searched the entire room and all of our bags just in case the rings had been moved, they weren’t anywhere to be seen.

I checked again with one of the ladies at reception who said the same thing about checking with housekeeping. To be honest she didn’t seem the slightest bit interested or concerned.

Strangely, the table where we had a bottle of champagne and chocolates had not been cleaned up, but the rest of the room was. This was where the rings had been left and were last seen by myself and my partner.

We were both thoroughly upset and distressed from the situation and would strongly advise avoiding the hotel and to anyone already booked, DO NOT leave any personal belongings unattended in your room!

Dear JS19744, I was disappointed to read your recent review. My team and I aspire to deliver a level of service which we hope is memorable for all the right reasons, I am very concerned that this has not been your impression on this occasion. After several conversations with various members of our senior team, I am disappointed that you feel our thorough investigations didn't provide you with the outcome you were looking for. I am sure you will have realised from our prompt action, that we take allegations like yours extremely seriously. I brought my husband to Manchester to celebrate his 40th Birthday, and our 5th Wedding Anniversary. At the last minute, we decided to book the Dakota based on some fantastic reviews, and a decent price.
We weren't disappointed. From the moment you step inside the hotel reception, you feel as though you are in the very best of 5 star hotels, even though it is graded 4 star. I imagine the addition of a spa or a pool would change this.
The staff were very friendly and the place just felt very luxurious.
We loved our room, complete with a comfortable double bed, and a huge telly which had Sky Sports and Movies on it! There was also a mediahub so we could use Bluetooth to play our own music from our phones through the television speakers.
The bathroom was exactly what my husband had hoped for as he just loves powerful showers.
The hotel also has a fantastic location, a 5 minute walk from Piccadilly Train Station, and just a 10 minute walk into the Arndale Centre, and within a very short walking distance of a Morrisons and a Sainsburys.
The only fault I had was that the pillows were a little uncomfortable. I prefer a flatter pillow, and they were quite large pillows. This wasn't enough to put me off the hotel itself though.
We will definitely be staying here next time we visit Manchester.

We stayed at the Dakota on 10th July 2020 for our wedding anniversary. I had heard great things about the hotel so was very excited to book it for a special treat. We booked a suite and was expecting a thoroughly indulgent, luxurious night away. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and the suite was very stylish, but the little details you’d expect from a suite costing this much were missing and the overall service we received at the hotel was disappointing.

We’d explained to the hotel it was our wedding anniversary and had booked the most expensive suite - it would have been a nice touch if the hotel had made some effort to mark the occasion and make it special which I would have expected for a hotel like this and given the money we were spending for the night. For example, I would have expected a bottle of champagne waiting for us in the room or even just a complimentary glass of champagne at the bar but nothing materialised. Usually at dinner when it’s a special anniversary a restaurant makes an effort to send a special dessert out with happy anniversary iced around the edges but again nothing was done to make the occasion more special for us. The service in the bar and the restaurant was not great, we had to wait a considerable time to get served at the outside terrace even though staff were standing around talking. The service at the front desk of the restaurant and in the restaurant was not very friendly and came across as rather aloof. We felt like very much like the hotel we’re doing is a favour by letting us stay there! We’d spent a lot of money on this night with the suite, drinks and dinner but the level of customer service fell very short of what we’d have expected. I’ve genuinely had better customer service in a travel lodge.

There were no dressing gowns or slippers in the suite, or any bottles of water - again things we’d expect in a hotel of this coat let alone in the suite. We had to phone down two times and wait an hour to be sent dressing gowns. We ordered breakfast to the room but it arrived cold and undercooked (the smashed avocado was barely cut up on top of the bread let alone smashed). They did not provide any milk for the coffee and tea and no butter or jam for the bread so we had to phone down again for those and again wait for those to be brought up. Keep having to phone down to reception and jump up to answer the door was not the relaxing indulgent morning we’d hoped for.

When we were checking out, no one asked how our stay was and despite there being a lot of staff stood around in the reception, none of them were friendly or spoke to us whilst we waited for the valet to get our car.

Overall we came away feeling disappointed, the service and staff make a hotel experience and whilst the hotel looked fabulous, the service we received certainly fell short and did not make it the magical anniversary night we’d imagined.

We stayed at this hotel to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary , staying in a King room on the 7th floor on a Breakfast and Dinner meal package that was good value

Check in was quick with the valet parking staff very helpful and professional, the whole hotel is spotless with lovely friendly staff welcoming you as you walk though .

We found our room sealed with a sanitation seal on the door , that gave us confidence the COVID cleaning systems in place were very efficient ( even the lifts had hand sanitizer placed inside )

Room was gorgeous and well presented , we did have two issues unfortunately.
I had booked the Indulgence Package that included the rose petals, champagne and chocolates unfortunately the chocolates were missing . Although having asking at reception about them , they were left in our room when we returned later on that day

The second issue was the air conditioning and fan in the bathroom would not turn off all night , even though the controls panel was off and light off . This did make the nights sleep restless a little , with it being late when we arrived back to the room we never called down to ask for help , although we did mention it on check out to maybe be looked at .

Overall the hotel is amazing with staff being friendly and very welcoming

The new terrace bar is a fantastic area to have a drink and snacks and found the prices to be inline with other 5 star hotels in the UK

We will definitely stay again on our travels to Manchester again just hoping for a room without the issues of the fan noise keeping us awake most of the night .

As a midweek treat my husband and I decided to try somewhere new, we have tried several other hotels in Manchester. Due to the recent lockdown we were a little unsure what to expect.

Upon arrival we were checked in straightaway, hand sanitiser was readily available throughout the hotel, even inside the lift! The concierge was SO helpful and welcoming, he gave us a tour of the bar and restaurant areas. This wonderful welcome set us up for the perfect stay.

We went to our room which was spectacular, we had booked a Garden Terrace room. There is a decent size balcony with lovely furniture and even a retractable canopy. The bathroom was absolutely spotless. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into this hotel, the amenities are amazing.

After we unpacked we had drinks and food on the outside terrace area. This area is lovely and despite the heavy rain we were kept completely dry and warm with the outside heaters. The staff were all very attentive.

We went back to the room and were pleasantly surprised to find Sky Movies were available free of charge.

We had booked the dinner, bed and breakfast option and had a meal in the restaurant that evening, even though there is currently a reduced menu there was something for everyone. We both opted for fillet steak which was cooked to perfection!! Again the staff were so attentive.

I had the best nights sleep ever.. the beds are so comfortable.

Breakfast was perfect, many options available, and the server was so lovely, making sure we had everything we wanted.

I cannot say enough how amazing this hotel is, especially due to the difficult times we are all in. I will be booking a return visit very soon!!

We enjoyed afternoon drinks in the outside cocktail bar and had a lovely meal in their grill restaurant.
