#2 of 53 B&Bs / Inns in Isle of Lewis
This luxury 5-star beach-side guest house has stunning views, a beautiful setting and stylish rooms. The location itself is worth the 5 star rating, just a few miles north of Stornoway in a small working crofting community, and adjacent to a sweeping sandy beach with direct access from the house to the shore. On a clear day, the Scottish highlands can be seen across the Minch. Inside there are four spacious luxury en-suite bedrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with a flat screen Smart TV, a Bose Bluetooth speaker and DVD player. In addition, each room has a Nespresso machine, complimentary snacks and luxury toiletries. Outside each bedroom is a personal decking area, with seating. Soft colours, natural woods and sympathetic furnishings provide a relaxing environment. Rooms are equipped to the highest of standards, with solid oak furniture, Italian leather armchairs, hair dryer, dressing gowns, complimentary slippers, a selection of local books & maps, torch, magnifying vanity mirror, magazines and Molton Brown toiletries. A good night’s sleep is assured with luxury mattresses, fine Egyptian cotton bed-linen and goose-down duvets. For those with allergies synthetic duvets and pillows are available on request. Other free guest facilities include Wi-Fi, a guest laundry and a guest study. The house is fully licensed, and has a wide ranging and interesting wine, gin and malt whisky list. A highlight of the house is the large guest dining/lounge which has a vaulted ceiling and windows on three sides, providing lovely views of the coast and local wildlife, while a solid fuel stove makes life cosy when the weather demands.

We stayed here for a week in June and it was fantastic, the situation is great with views out to the beach and beyond and only a 20 minute drive into Stornaway. We stayed in room three and it was very comfortable with loads of nice little extras like chocolates and snacks and lovely toiletries as well. We had our own patio which was lovely as we had terrific weather when there.Tom and Sue are fantastic hosts and go above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your stay and the breakfast is awesome with a huge choice including Sue’s home made bread and muffins and loads more to enjoy. Tom is great for providing information and ideas on places to visit and recommending restaurants in Stornaway and beyond. I would certainly recommend staying here if you’re looking for some luxury and a home from home in a lovely setting and I hope we can return sometime soon

No surprise that the four rooms at this gorgeous B&B are in high demand. As a previous reviewer remarked, if I could have stayed longer than two nights then I would at the drop of a hat. The location, looking across to mainland Scotland some 40 odd miles away, is tranquility personified. The work that Tom and Sue put into your every comfort - and the knowledge of the islands that they are happy to share in easy-going conversation - matched the standards of the beautiful environment. A wonderful antidote to the stresses of the last 18 months.

My husband and I stayed for the first 3 nights of our 2 week staycation on Lewis/Harris and it set a very high bar for the rest of the trip that I doubt will be met. A luxury B&B, and the level of luxury is very high. Location (2 minutes walk from an almost deserted sandy beach) views from the guest lounge (across the Minch to the mainland on a clear day) food (the breakfast kept us going all day, and you have to try the oranges with cinnamon and honey, and we also had the Ultimate tasting platter for dinner not once but twice) and very comfortable bedrooms with everything you could want, from fresh flowers to a Nespresso machine and even M&Ms, plus a huge bed with laundered sheets with a very high thread count. If the breakfast hadn’t been unmissable it would have been hard to get out of bed. I took my yoga mat down to the beach every morning before breakfast and even ventured in the water. What a peaceful, stunning location, and Sue & Tom look after every little detail, from the stunning flowers in the guest lounge to the assembly of the perfect glass of gin and tonic before dinner. It’s every bit as lovely as it’s website makes it look, and I can’t say that about many places.

We have just stayed here for 2 nights and wish it could be longer! Tom & Sue have created a warm, friendly 5* place in a stunning location. Our room was beautifully appointed with very high attention to detail! The little “extra” bits such as pillow spray, room & line spray, not to mention the complimentary snacks and fresh milk showed they really know how to please! The food was amazing, both dinner and breakfasts, just sorry we weren’t staying on a night that the sharing platters were on. The guest lounge is stunning and I spent most of my time “glued” to the binoculars watching the resident seals out on the rock. Would highly recommend a stay here, and maybe one day we will be back!

Wow, this high-end B&B was everything I had hoped for from the website photos! Remote and peaceful, yet 10 mins drive from Stornoway and on the quiet Tolsta Head road with its gorgeous beaches. It’s not cheap for a B&B, but you are getting so much for your money. Broad Bay House is more of a tiny hotel, with a truly gorgeous dining room/lounge area, French windows to decking, lawn down to the cliff edge, access to a lovely beach and wonderful views. Expect real comfort, luxury furnishings, tasteful fabrics, super-comfortable beds, spacious bedrooms with lots of extras and great bathrooms, spotlessly clean with everything working. We had a ground floor double with its own little furnished deck (one room has a private deck with sea view – ask for this?) Delicious breakfasts (best smoked salmon and scrambled egg in 2-week trip!), exceptional evening sharing platter and we can recommend the excellent picnic they can provide. Hope they get back to normal use of the “honesty bar” soon and they do need to consider proper blackout lined bedroom curtains – all other Scottish hotels we visited had this sorted (bring an eye mask!).
