Hotel's Favourite
Strathmore Hotels try incredibly hard to help you enjoy your stay and there was a warm welcome at the ‘Sally’. We had a superior double room, which was spotless, comfortable and had lots of very appreciated extras, such as Border biscuits, decent sized mugs, a large kettle and a hairdryer that doesn’t stop every time you take your thumb off the button. Sparking bathroom with toiletries, luxury loo roll and soft fluffy towels. Radiators you can control help you choose the temp in your room-so important-particularly in winter! We had a bar evening meal, food and service great, food was hot and freshly cooked. Breakfast thrown in the price makes for fantastic value for money and the staff across the hotel are accommodating, kind and helpful. I asked if we could check out slightly later than advertised and generously given immediate agreement. Nothing is too much trouble here and the staff are like a family taking care of the family home and all it’s inhabitants. Please support this chain of hotels. They offer an excellent 3+* and all the home comforts. The buildings themselves tend to be old, with lots of history and unique features, which add to the endearing feel. It’s a hit and we will be back!

Many thanks for taking the time to write a bit about our company, I am really happy to see that you really enjoyed your stay at the Salutation. I am glad that you liked our superior double, we do our best to keep an on-going state of refurbishment throughout our group of hotels so they are consistently being updated. I am also happy to see that the staff were able to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. We look forward to your return visit to one of our hotels. Kind Regards

I stayed in room 305 (superior single) and I found some problems with it: the hot water took forever to come out, and there was a sprung in the mattress which pressed right into my spine. I explained this to a gentleman at reception and he offered me to change rooms. The next room had none of those problems. Both rooms weren’t very sound proof for my liking, but I guess they’re limited in terms of what they can do due to the nature of the building. I didn’t get a chance to order food from the restaurant, but I had breakfast there. There was vegan sausages only one out of the 3 days. I was told I didn’t need to ask for them in advance, I assumed there would always be vegan sausages. Perhaps something got lost in translation between the kitchen and reception. Luckily they had soy milk so I just had cereals. I went to the bar in two occasions and it was understaffed. The gentlemen at reception were acting as barmen too. As someone who’s worked in a hotel reception before, this would’ve been my worst nightmare. I don’t understand how management gave the green light to this way of operating. This resulted in guests with empty glasses and long waits. The hotel itself is quite an experience and I’m glad I stayed there. The staff at reception were helpful and kind, the waitress at the dining room were lovely too, and I met some wonderful people whilst at the bar. I would like to come back to this hotel if I ever visit Perth again. Note to management: The little pain-points tend to stick in the guests’ mind and they can take over anything positive. If you want to offer a 10/10 experience, acknowledge them and fix them.

What a disappointment. I can't really comment much on the hotel as I didn't stay long. Hoping for a nice superior room I got a rather poky single rather old superior? room. I could have made the best of it but decided to return home. The hotel was full so I couldn't be moved. I believe they would if they could have. I've already been to three Strathmore hotels this year and have nothing but praise for them and their staff who are generally excellent. Though I doubt I'll return to the Salutation but that's just personal preference or the mood I was in. I might try my favourites the Nethybridge or Cumbria Grand next for a festive break possible lockdowns permitting.
