The Sandman Signature Glasgow Hotel garners mixed reviews, with guests praising its stylish atmosphere and modern decor that nod to Glasgow's culture. While the cleanliness and well-maintained rooms are often commended, opinions diverge on the value and room quality, with some describing the accommodations as cramped and overpriced.
Noise disturbances are a common concern among guests, and the hotel's service has been called out for being less than attentive. The location's convenience is up for debate, and travelers have had inconsistent experiences with amenities.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed at The Sandman this weekend as we were attending a show at the Kings Theatre for my husband’s birthday, and while we had a great trip, sadly our experience at the hotel was quite disappointing.
The ‘Signature’ room was immaculate however a lot smaller than expected especially for the rate charged of £149 and there was hardly any space to move around the bed. The bathroom was huge by comparison and well appointed, but unfortunately the shower leaked so badly after one use, it caused a huge amount of water to pool and unfortunately I wasted a few towels mopping it up. The bed was comfortable, and the complimentary birthday Prosecco was a nice touch but I’d rather have had a bigger room!
After the show we headed to Chop for drinks (22:00) to be met by a barrier and the barman telling us ‘we would be allowed in, but last orders were in 20 mins’. We were appalled that a Glasgow city centre hotel bar, would close around 22-22:30 on a Saturday night, even to guests. It is also expensive as we were £18 for a beer and a glass of wine. (We’ve since noted the bar AND restaurant advertise service up to 23:00, so it was obvious the staff just wanted an early finish).
The hotel is stylish and very clean but lifts are slow and very small, staff also use them so large trolleys and carts make the space even tighter. Any staff we encountered were pleasant, but no one went over and above.
As far as location goes the hotel is 5-10 mins walk from Sauchiehall St but as the whole area around the hotel is under construction you cannot park nearby. The nearest parking is Charing Cross Station Car Park but you can get your ticket validated by the hotel for a reduced rate.
Sadly I would be very unlikely to stay again or recommend to others, as there are better places to choose from in Glasgow.

Dear Justine G, Thank you for sharing your feedback following your recent stay at The Sandman. We are sincerely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations and that several aspects of your stay fell short of what you had hoped for. While we're pleased to hear that you found our Signature room immaculate and the complimentary birthday Prosecco a nice touch, we regret that the room size did not meet your expectations, especially considering the rate charged. Your comments regarding the bathroom shower leak have been duly noted, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. We apologize for the disappointment you experienced regarding the operating hours at Chop bar. Please accept our apologies for any confusion or inconvenience caused. We will review our policies and procedures to ensure consistency and better communicate any changes to our guests. Your feedback regarding our stylish and clean facilities is appreciated. We will assess ways to improve the efficiency and convenience of our lift service to better accommodate both guests and staff. Regarding the ongoing construction in the area, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your stay unfortunately this is out with the hotels control. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. We regret that your overall experience did not meet your expectations and that you would be unlikely to stay with us again. We take all feedback seriously and will use it constructively to enhance our guests' experiences moving forward. We understand that you have many options when choosing accommodation in Glasgow, and we regret that we did not fully meet your needs on this occasion. We hope that you will consider giving us another opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future. Warm regards, Chris Armstrong Front Office Manager

Hotel's Favourite
I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks. I love it here. The guys on reception were exceptional. There was Chris and Jojo and Natalie and especially the Italian girl. There were others but the first four I had were the ones I could relate to. And of course there is Inga who helped me with paperwork. Thank you everyone. The breakfast crew were also fantastic including Alex and Karolina. Now the hotel itself. My room for two weeks was on the 7th floor. With views of Glasgow. And the raucous chant of seagulls. My bed was so comfy. The bathroom had a huge shower. There was a fridge with a complimentary bottle wine. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk away from Sauchiehall Street where restaurants and a supermarket can be found. I am coming back here in October.

Booked a wee package through a well known hotel breaks company, BB & bottle of bubbly in room on arrival. Check in was okay, staff were trying to fix an issue with a computer which meant the girl seeing to us was distracted. We weren’t informed of check out time or breakfast times, so had to ask later on way out. Advised we were on the 9th floor and handed a bottle of warm Prosecco. Would have been a nicer touch had the Prosecco been in our room in an ice bucket. Asked about an ice bucket but was told not available and could get a cup and get some ice from the gym! Dismissed the idea of ice and took the lift to our room. On entry we were absolutely delighted, the finish in the rooms is to an exceptionally high standard, a microwave, mini fridge, hair dryer, ironing board, iron, and very large flat screen TV. The beds were so comfortable. Bathroom was outstanding with large overhead shower. However, the temperature in the room was insane. Despite ensuring that the heating was off, and all 3 windows open with a wee steel fan blowing about, we were sweating. The temp outside was 20 degrees so inside was double this. No air conditioning. The heat in the bathroom was also unbearable. A shower cap would have been appreciated. Plenty of lovely fluffy towels and fabulous lighting.
Sleep - quality was poor, too hot, the quilts on the bed appear to be winter tog so I was in and out of the cover all night. Windows had to stay open which meant that outside city noise was very loud and of course there are a number of works being carried out around the property, so awoken at 8am with loud clanking from diggers and so on. Definitely had better sleeps in hotels. Breakfast was disappointing, arrived down at 9:30am and had to ask and then wait for hot items to be replenished. Coffee was cold and staff appeared under pressure.

We were really excited to book this hotel looking at reviews and based on fact it was new and modern
But soon we came down to Earth Over priced , location not easily accessible, room small, no shower mat in shower. Rooms are on same standard of modern travelodge or premier inns which you can accept for the price you pay , 156£ for a twin room for one night is not a fair price if you deliver same standard of travelodge in main queen street selling the same rooms with same amenities at 68£ or premier inn at glasgow airport at 89£ and trust me their price was justified by location first of all than amenities and rich selection of breakfast and freshly baked items
Breakfast at chops was a disgrace and overpriced , breakfast items like brioches and muffins dry and old , stale food we went down on morning around 9 am there were just 4 tables eating so can't say it was a busy morning , staff seems annoyed to see guests and there was no choice of vegetarian breakfast available , we had to ask for some vegetarian items and the vegetarian sausages were horrendous , they presented us with a square tile sausage of morrisons which was extremely dry and smelly ,literally leather piece , i was disappointed to leave it to the bin as i am against the food wastage and had to left on table dry muffins dry croissants and dry sausages , had to ask for an omelette with tomatoes and they refused to make it tomatoes than asked for a simple and waiter came out with tomatoes one ,i assume waiter added tomatoes
Chunk om top coz chef refused to make it and when chef refused to add items on a dish we all know in hospitality it comes as premade dish so they dnt want to take responsability .
On leaving the chops no bye or interaction from staff,
On bar bed and breakfast rate in a 4 star hotels at least a water bottle is provided in room and on booking we were told there was a fridge in room as minibar , reading other reviews of guests confirming they were provided with minibar items on arrival we booked this as extra and found fridge empty .
Not fitt for health and safety as the main pillars of the building in main public areas are uncovered and concrete is falling in chunks from corners coz the pillars are not covered , same is on the ceiling of main entrance and reception area which is uncovered , was playing pool in reception area and got scratches from the rough corners of the pillar next to pool .
Absolutely not a 4 star and not a full English breakfast, maybe can be a 1/4 of English breakfast if we want to be honest .

Dear AlanStayedHere, Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are disappointed to hear that your stay did not live up to our usual high standards. Your valuable feedback concerning our CHOP restaurant breakfast offering has been duly noted. Rest assured, this falls short of the elevated breakfast experience we endeavor to provide. I have promptly conveyed your sentiments to our esteemed food and beverage team for a comprehensive review, intending to glean valuable insights and implement necessary improvements. Allow me to clarify that each of our rooms is equipped with a refrigerator as a standard amenity, not an additional feature. While instances of guests storing celebratory items like prosecco in their fridges are special occasions and not the norm, we take pride in contributing to these memorable moments, making our guests' experiences a touch more extraordinary. Regarding the design of our hotel lobby, we've embraced an Industrial Chic style—a deliberate fusion of industrial and urban aesthetics into our interior and exterior spaces. While we understand that design preferences vary, we hope this distinctive style contributes to a unique and enriching experience. Rest assured, a thorough examination of the pillars and ceilings has been personally undertaken, alongside the head of our building team, and I am pleased to report no evidence of "concrete falling in chunks" has been found. Once again, we appreciate your candid review and the opportunity to address your concerns. We sincerely hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future, ensuring a stay that surpasses expectations and leaves you with fond memories. Warm regards, Chris Armstrong Front Office Manager

The hotel itself is finished to a high standard, we stayed in an executive suite and the separate kitchen/lounge area was a brilliant addition. Massive comfortable bed, deep bath, brilliant shower! Really loved the room and general feel to the hotel. It’s very clean and all the staff we encountered were really friendly, even giving us an unexpected early check in! Good discount on Charing Cross car park if you validate your ticket at reception and not far to walk.
A couple of things that let it down was that there was no mattress protector on the bed. May seem a small thing but quite important from a hygiene point of view and the mattress itself, although clean, was covered in lots of hairs.
The biggest let down for me, having coeliac disease, was breakfast. Normally when I stay in hotels that offer a buffet breakfast, they have no problem in the chef making a plate of gluten free food straight from the kitchen to avoid cross contamination.
For some reason this was impossible for the chef to do at the Sandman, and the only thing offered was gluten free toast. Not really trusting that even that would be safe for me, we left and got breakfast elsewhere. Nothing against the waiting staff at all, the two girls on shift were friendly and did their best and were really apologetic that there were no other food options for me. Just something to bear in mind that if you have coeliac disease, maybe best to avoid dining here to avoid disappointment.
Would definitely stay again!

Dear Jamestk9259BF Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay at our hotel. We're delighted that you enjoyed the comforts and amenities of our executive suite, including the separate kitchen/lounge area, comfortable bed, and luxurious bath and shower. It's always our goal to provide a clean and welcoming environment for our guests, and we're thrilled that you found our hotel up to your standards. Many thanks for your feedback regarding mattress protectors, whilst our mattresses are covered by an encasement i shall certainly speak with housekeeping regarding this. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the breakfast options, particularly in relation to your dietary requirements as someone with coeliac disease. We understand the importance of providing suitable options for all our guests, and we regret that we fell short in meeting your needs in this regard. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will work with our kitchen team to explore additional gluten-free breakfast options and improve our ability to accommodate special dietary requests. We greatly appreciate your kind words about our friendly staff, and we're pleased that they were able to assist you during your stay. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with an even more enjoyable experience. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. A quite new hotel as part of this Canadian groups small UK portfolio.
As others have said the surrounding area is massively impacted by major works which I’m sure will ultimately improve the area and justify the investment of hotels like this.
On arrival there was parking available (£15 night) within the hotels car park which is underneath the hotel accessed via a right turn just before the hotel entrance. The spaces are extremely tight and a challenge with a 4x4. There are also a few EV DC charging points but I did not check provider or rates.
Check in ended up a bit chaotic. Plenty had arrived ahead of the official 3pm check in time on a rare gloriously sunny Saturday. The party line seemed to be rooms not ready until 3pm (which logistically wouldn’t be true) and the result was a huge queue and congestion bang on 3pm. Tried to fill the time waiting in the bar which (really surprisingly didn’t open until 3pm on a Saturday!). Generally the design of the hotel would have benefitted from the bar being on ground floor not a floor up.
We had 2 rooms and 1 was given a complimentary upgrade to an executive king suite which included a living area between the bedroom and kitchen/bathroom. Naturally the room was a good size and in good condition. Bit surprised no complimentary or paid bottled water option in room. The other twin room was fine with great 9th floor views across the City. They also kindly prepared it for a special birthday. Both rooms had impressive showers until just before checkout when there was then no water supply in the hotel. Of surprise was that as an almost new hotel there was no air conditioning in rooms and that did not help a restful sleep. Did like the Glasgow theme.
I overheard breakfast was around £14 per person though didn’t try it.
Probably a slightly generous 3.5.

The place is getting refurbed in places but you would only know from The outside, inside does'nt interfear with your stay... we stayed for 1 night on the 9th floor myself and my son very clean, modern and tidy rooms. On the small side (smaller than a premier inn) great size showers you could lie down in the shower, bathroom immaculate.
Rooms have tv microwave kettle and fridge. Small wardrobe ,desk phone , down stairs lobby and bar all looke modern and clean, breakfast in the morning was lovley no complaints every thing you need... again clean tidy pleny staff. We were on the 9th floor had the windows open, morning and night is noisey. You here eveythin outside..that would be my only negative didnt bother us we sleep through a war zone... or close the windows🤷. Maybe
The hotel is a 10m 15m walk from glasgow central train station if your not a walker then not for you it all up hill walks.

We booked as a group for a weekend, upon arrival (earlier than the 3pm check in time) we were checked in immediately, we had a slightly different experience in as much as one room of 4 was given 2 keys and the other room of 4 was given 4 keys.. but that aside it was all good. Our room wasn't massive but it was big enough, it was clean, the beds were comfortable and the welcome of a bottle of wine in the fridge was a really nice touch.
When we returned from our night out we spoke to reception who advised that if we booked breakfast then we would only pay £10.95 as opposed to £16.95 if we decided in the morning. So we went ahead and booked for 7/8 of us, when we arrived at Chop restaurant the following morning we were told by the waitress that it would be £13.95/head, when we questioned this she reiterated that it was £13.95 even after we'd explained that we were told it would be £10.95 by reception.
She then offered to fetch the manager of the restaurant who came over and was we felt very rude, he didn't introduce himself, he basically said I don't care what you've been told by reception you would only get the £10.95 rate if you booked breakfast when you booked your room. I'm not prepared to honour the price you were told its £13.95 and that's it, he didn't offer an apology for the information we were given just stuck by his guns that they would charge £13.95.
At this point we decided that we didn't actually want to eat here and took ourselves elsewhere, where we had a very good breakfast just a few minutes from the hotel.
Coming from a customer service background I would suggest that this was approached in the wrong way, firstly the customer should be treated respectfully, especially when the information relayed by hotel staff was incorrect. It wasn't our fault that we were given incorrect information but an internal issue. What the manager should have done was apologise for the incorrect information and probably say on this occasion I will honour the rate you were quoted.
Its a real shame that this happened as up until this point we'd had a lovely stay.. now the talking point is the rude manager of the restaurant.

Great stay. The hotel was easy to find.
Able to check in early, we had a high level corner room so lots of windows.
Bed was really comfortable and black out blinds meant we had a great night's sleep.
Bathroom was large and shower was excellent
Free tea/coffee/hot chocolate in reception
Nearby parking was cheaper when validated at the hotel.
Close to arena and city.

I have just returned home after staying in the Sandman, Glasgow on Saturday 27.01.2024 and want to share my utter disappointment with regards to this particular hotel.
I booked this hotel primarily as I stay in the Aberdeen Sandman frequently on business as a Regional Senior Manager and as a Platinum member of the RSVP rewards scheme,
I booked the hotel for my wife and myself as we were celebrating a milestone and we were also taking in a show at the OVO Hydro as a surprise for her.
I booked the Grand Suite for 1 night at a cash cost of £198.00 for bed & breakfast however, when checking in, I was given an executive suite with no explanation as to why I couldn't have the Grand Suite which I booked but was told there was none available which I found incredibly poor from a customer services perspective.
The breakfast was nothing short of shambolic and I have documented the reasons below:
• Guests were getting told to sit at uncleared, and uncleaned tables
• There was no tomato's
• No hash browns
• No orange juice
• No mushrooms
• No black pudding
• The haggis was mush at the bottom of the Bain Marie
• The toaster was in the corner of the food area and not assessable due to the number of guests waiting
• When I eventually managed to get into the toaster, there was no brown bread left
• We waited 20 minutes for a fried egg and when they eventually came out, there was only 5 eggs with 6 guests waiting for them
• Very little scrambled egg left
• No water in the little jugs to make tea
• No milk out for cereal
• Very little cold breakfast items available
• When I arrived at 09:30, there was no fruit available
• When I eventually managed to sit down and eat, my food was stone cold
• I asked a member of staff 3 times for condiments before he eventually got them again, with food stone cold
• The staff in the breakfast area didn't appear to have any guidance or delegation as to what they were actually doing and this was identified by a number of guests
• At one point, all there was to eat was scrambled eggs and bacon
Overall, I am incredibly disappointed with the Sandman group for permitting the Glasgow Sandman to operate such an unwelcoming hotel and to sum up, we would have been better booking a travel Lodge and picking up breakfast at a Wetherspoons.

Dear Venture18628591705, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at Sandman, Glasgow. I sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay. As a valued Platinum member of our RSVP rewards scheme and a loyal guest of Sandman hotels, your feedback is of utmost importance to us, and we deeply regret any inconvenience caused. I want to assure you that we take your concerns seriously, and we are conducting a thorough investigation into the matters raised. The issues regarding the room type discrepancy and the subpar breakfast experience fall well below the standards we strive to uphold, and for this, I sincerely apologize. Regarding the room situation, I am investigating why the Grand Suite you booked was not available and why you were provided with an executive suite without proper communication. I understand the frustration this must have caused, especially given the special occasion you were celebrating. Additionally, the challenges you faced during breakfast are unacceptable, and I assure you that corrective actions will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future. I am addressing the specific points you raised with our breakfast service team to ensure better organization, availability of items, and improved overall service. Once again, I apologize for the disappointment you and your wife experienced. We value your loyalty and hope that you will give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future. Kind regards, Christopher Armstrong Front Office Manager
