This is a lovely new Hotel Located overlooking the Clyde within a short walk of all of the main amenities of Glasgow City Centre
Two things make this different from the other hotels, the first being the bright and open public spaces where you can sit and enjoy a drink or have chat. The architect has made full use of the original features of the old Custom House linking it beautifully with the new areas
The rooms are finished to a high standard and are exceptionally clean and inviting. We were lucky to have a view over the Clyde which was great.
For a change there were affordable meal options available in the bar which would be ideal if you were there with young family.
Breakfast was excellent with everything you could possibly want from fruit to the full Scottish again served in a really pleasant restaurant overlooking the river.
This hotel will be first in my list to return to as it was both luxurious and relaxing. The staff were highly efficient and pleasant to deal with.

This hotel is excellent. Stayed 5 nights, on arrival we received a very warm welcome at Reception and shown to our room so that we did not get lost. We had a deluxe 3 bed room which was really comfortable. Cleaning was spotless every day, beds were very comfortable, extra pillows stored in wardrobe, wall television, tea, coffee and milk every day plus Thurrocks chocolate wafter biscuits every day, free safe in room, iron with ironing board, hairdryer. Bathroom was modern, walk in shower, non mist lighted mirror, soap and body lotion, lovely white fluffy towels.
Rooms were secure as you had to use your key to get through to the corridors connecting the rooms and also to get the lift to work.
Breakfast was good and so much choice, you could also order porridge and eggs cooked to order. We did have some evening meals, bit pricey but my goodness cooked to quality so we did not mind too much and really enjoyed. Bar meals again bit pricey but good quality and the fish and chips were to die for.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for any of them. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout.
Hotel is right by the River Clyde and close to shops and restaurants and Central Station.
Find it hard to find anything to fault. If anything I would say maybe a little bit more choice on the bar menu but that is only a minor thing.
We usually stay at Hilton Hotels but sorry Hilton you have lost us to the Clayton who have proved to be extra special.
Thank you Clayton in Glasgow for a lovely 5 night stay.

Only heard about the new Clayton Hotel via Booking.com, so had no expectations. We were as a result wowed by the whole experience, loving the airy ambience created by a sympathetic restoration and renovation of the old Customs House on the Clyde.
Everywhere felt spacious and had a minimalist design congruence that unified the overall structure, also providing very comfortable, ample, and stylish armchairs. A refreshingly unique and sleek environment has been created due to the challenge of preserving a listed building whilst ensuring it’s fit for purpose as a four star, city centre hotel.
We’d booked the room rate without breakfast. On the 13th floor the views over the Clyde are panoramic by day and also glittering by night. Only opened eight weeks ago, our room was fresh and comfortable, with the usual fittings and a walk-in shower. Alas, the fire alarm went off briefly at 1.30 a.m., as it would when you’re on the 13th floor and it’s Baltic outside on a Glasgow night in December. I’d only just gone past the elevator to reach the stairs, cardi over nightie and clutching my handbag, when it thankfully stopped, but the slight disruption proved worthwhile in the morning when we were treated to a free breakfast buffet to smooth over the issue when raised by the charming supervisor. The choice was broad and, as we tucked into our selection from just about anything you might fancy to break your fast, we pronounced secret blessings on the guest whose steamy shower had set off the sensors. It’s always good to know they’re working, and in such a new build, some tweaking being necessary is only to be expected.
This is also an example of the fabulous customer service we received throughout the weekend, which somehow managed to achieve a distinctive Glasgow tone. Though the hotel undoubtably feels posh, interactions with staff were very friendly and accommodating, with the odd bit of banter thrown in.
There’s a coffee bar and a restaurant from which we only had small plates before heading out for the day. My parsnip and apple soup was delish, and my companion enjoyed her blue cheese salad. Our coffees and teas were all good. We weren’t in the mood to explore as far as the fitness suite as the weekend was planned as a strictly unhealthy 40th birthday celebration, so can’t report about this feature.
We loved it. In the heart of the city, we could walk where we wanted to go, or grab a cab when we didn’t feel like it. I think this hotel will be a big hit with the tourists, UK weekenders, and also relative locals such as ourselves turning a big night out into a mini break. Well done, the Clayton!

We stayed in the Clayton Hotel Glasgow for three nights in June.
We received a friendly welcome at reception. Having seen the building from outside, we enquired whether our room would be quiet, as we prefer to sleep with the windows open. The receptionist told us the room would be extremely quiet with the windows open. When we arrived in our room - the windows can’t be opened !!
Air conditioned rooms, hermetically sealed no fresh air.
The next surprise was the pink fingernail on the floor, false I hope. It must have been concealed in the bedspread and fell out onto the floor.
One of the recent trends in the hotel trade in the UK is not to provide toilet brushes in the rooms. This is also the policy at the Clayton Hotel. When asked if we could have a toilet brush, the answer was no. So we bought our own.
One of the little idiosyncrasies at this hotel is to provide bath towels for one person in the bathroom and hide a second set in the wardrobe. This is probably a good way to keep down the laundry costs but I am sure the staff must get fed up with having to tell everybody to look in the wardrobe.
The bar experience was good. The personnel were competent, friendly and at times very very busy. Maybe a little understaffed at times but whatever.
Late risers be warned: breakfast ends at 11am but the buffet is not refilled after 10:15. On our second day there was no granola at all. On most days no more scrambled eggs.
Overall a comfortable enough stay because the hotel is quite new and the beds are comfy plus we weren’t at the hotel during the day but, even if the staff did their best, the experience here was only mediocre and we had the impression that costs were being saved in every aspect of the hotel operations under the assumption that the guests wouldn’t notice.

Dear uzsfzufs, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent stay. I am incredibly sorry for the issues you experience during your time with us. We do have rooms in the hotel with windows that open and I apologise that on this occasion the Receptionist has made an error with your allocation. The cleanliness issue mentioned will be addressed with our Housekeeping Manager to ensure our high standards are being met at all times. We are by no way trying to hide towels from our guests to save costs, rather we find it to be the most aesthetically pleasing place to store the second set to ensure the bathrooms do not look cluttered. I appreciate your feedback regarding breakfast, and all other areas of your stay, and sincerely apologise that your stay was not an enjoyable one. Your comments will be shared with our Management team to allow us to make changes and improvements as we move forward. Kind regards, Jennifer Rooms Division Manager

Wonderful staff, excellent hotel; I would definitely recommend Clayton for solo travellers such as myself.
Perfect location near to the river clyde with stunning views ( if you happen to be on the 16th floor like I was )
It is also ideal for heading away for the day via Central Station as it is only a short walk away.
Also close by to The St Enoch Centre and further up being Argyle Street, Buchanan Street and more for shopping, restaurants and bars.
The hotel room ( executive king ) was spacious and featured lots of amenities such as a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities ( with two tunnocks caramel wafers to enjoy ), plenty of space for items on the work desk, alongside two comfortable chairs and a table.
There were also plenty of plug sockets and USB outlets, both near to the work desk and at either side of the bed and in the bathroom too, which is always handy.
The bed was extremely comfy. The staff were not wrong when they said it may just be the comfiest sleep you could have at a hotel. There were extra pillows inside of a wardrobe too, which proved useful during my stay and also a hairdryer, an ironing board Fluffy robes with slippers, and a laptop safe for those who may need it.
The bathroom was lovely and clean, spacious shower, and plenty of toiletries and towels to use during your stay. The temperature of the shower wasn't bad either, and it was very easy to get it to a temperature of your own liking.
Checking in and out was very straightforward with a little assistant at the self-serve machine, which is handy if you are able to check in before arrival.
Staff were helpful in showing me how to navigate the hotel as it is a very unique style and layout ( a building within a building ), after the first time finding my way, it was easy to remember ( head to the lifts, go to lower grounds and follow the signs for North tower or south tower )
Overall, my stay was extremely enjoyable, and I would highly recommend Clayton even to people who are on their first visit to Glasgow.

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted at reception by Sophie who was warm and welcoming, as were the other girls on duty that day. We asked if it was possible to have a room facing the river and were given room 705 which had a lovely view. We were then given information about where to find everything and escorted to the lift.
The room was very clean and modern with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was also modern with a walk in shower and easy to control temperature. In the wardrobe there was an ironing board, iron, hairdryer and extra towels if needed. The only thing missing was a small fridge and minibar.
The area is very close to Glasgow Central Station, the St Enoch shopping centre and various restaurants within walking distance. The hotel itself is beside the river Clyde, perfect for a walk if you don’t want fancy the shops.
At breakfast we were shown into the restaurant and everything explained to us, there is an area for continental you also help yourself to coffee & tea then we were served a full hot breakfast, it was amazing! The young waitress was friendly and deserves a mention, unfortunately I have forgotten her name.
We have stayed in various hotels in Glasgow decided to try The Clayton as it has just recently opened, we will definitely return and would highly recommend to others.

I attended for 3 nights as I was attending a conference. What a great find! As a Clayton member, I was treated really well, and my room 1110 (11th floor) had a great view over the River Clyde. The room was cosy and cleaned each day. No toiletries are provided, but there is a supply of hand wash and shower gel fixed on the wall.
There is an iron and iron board, which was handy.
The hotel was clean, with a great lounge area to chill, make calls, or have a drink.
Breakfast was really nice - a full booked Scottish breakfast buffet with lovely pastries, toast, fruit, yoghurts, teas, fruit juices, bagles, and toast.
Great location for shopping and venturing into the city centre.
Would definitely visit again when I'm next in town.

We were so impressed by everything about this hotel! It’s a great location, has fabulous interior design. Beds were blissfully comfy and breakfast buffet had a huge range of high quality, delicious offerings that our whole party (with varying dietary needs and preferences) loved! But the thing that truly sets this hotel apart is a staff team that are attentive, knowledgeable and well trained. We will definitely be staying here again! Kudos to the management for the terrific attention to customer service and customer experience.

The hotel is very clean and modern. Our room was fairly spacious (deluxe double plus single) and the beds were very comfy.
The location is really handy - a short walk from the subway and not far to walk into the city centre either. We stayed at the hotel for a gig at SWG3 which was a short taxi ride away.
The self check-in facilities are handy but they do lack that personal touch of giving you information on how to find your room, time and location of breakfast etc. However, the reception desk is nearby so you can ask for help if required.
Unfortunately, the boiler broke down during our 1-night stay, so we were unable to have showers in the morning. It would have been nice for staff to have shared this information with us, but we were only told when we rang reception to tell them the water was cold. No alternative was offered or estimated repair timeline given. Thankfully, we were just heading home that day so it wasn't the end of the world, but obviously quite an inconvenience for other guests. I contemplated complaining when we checked out, but there were other guests doing so already, so we didn't bother.
Hotel is quite a rabbit warren so it was rather difficult to find our room initially (I also met another group who were struggling to find theirs). Signage could be improved to help with this.
Our room key cards also stopped working twice during our stay so another glitch that could do with some improvement.
Staff were friendly and helpful on the whole.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I would book again when, hopefully, the minor problems would have been resolved.
