The Courtyard Glasgow SEC enjoys acclaim for its cleanliness, with guests consistently commending the spotless rooms and public spaces. The atmosphere also receives praise, with modern furnishings tailored for concertgoers attending nearby events. While rooms are praised for being contemporary and tidy, some visitors have faced challenges with noise, temperature control, and booking errors. Service quality varies, as reports of attentive staff contrast with experiences of disorganization and rudeness. Despite appreciating the hotel's amenities and location, especially its closeness to the Hydro, patrons often remark on the steep prices for dining, drinks, and parking, alongside some dissatisfaction with value.

booked here as we were seeing paolo nutini at the hydro and the trains were on strike- ended up getting a not bad deal at £100 a night. The hotel was spotless and rooms were so clean and spacious, bed super comfy also! The location is ideal as it is a 2 minute walk from the hydro and there are also plenty of bars and pubs just around the corner and up the road at finnieston. Would definitely want to return here just for a little overnight, shopping and food next time. Staff were so lovely allowed me to check into room at 8am and sealed with the crazy crowds super professionally- definitely will be back. Only thing i can say is the shower is extremely tempremantal and hard to use as it hangs on the wall therefor you need to hold it above your head to use it.

Lovely modern hotel with staff who are more than willing to help with any queries
Connected to the car park on level 2 where they have discounted car parking of £8.00 per day
I am a very light sleeper and my initial room was a lovely corner room directly opposite the OVO Hydro and the Finnieston Crane and I was worried about the noise from events, however not once did I hear any noise from any of the events on which was brilliant. Especially as I was travelling for work so I had to be up early.
On a few occasions I treated myself to breakfast at the hotel and the choice of food was superb. From cereal to a full English breakfast with haggis. Muffins, bread and a selections of juices. If you were in a rush they were also happy for you to take something to go as well.
For a business person staying at the hotel for several weeks there is also a wide selection of restaurants to order from on Deliveroo or Just Eat and the hotel are happy for you to take food in from outside to your room.
The evening menu for the hotel was a bit limited and a bit pricey for myself however I would definitely recommend the cheese board.
There is also a Lidl and McDonalds near by (walking distance).
The only noise issue I had was the air condition sometimes made a humming sound but that would only cause an issue if you are a light sleeper like myself.
The TV channel selection is great and the room size is brilliant with desk space, your own kettle and the bathrooms are fabulous.
Would happily recommend the hotel to any one!

The hotel reception area and the rooms are very nice. We stayed one night when going to a gig at the Armadillo and the location is excellent for this. It is also very easy to get to by car and the car park is literally next door. There are, however, some negatives. The reception area is cold and it wasn't helped when we had afternoon luke warm coffee served from the bar. Our room was also cold and despite trying numerous settings on the heating control we were unable to get any heat. Eventually I called reception who were able to set it remotely. I wonder if this is a deliberate arrangement to cut down on heating bills. We had dinner and , although the food and service were very good the menu choice was very limited (steak, salmon, burgers and ribs) and a soft drink and a glass of house wine was £11.50. The restaurant area was also cold which did not provide for a comfortable dining experience. When we got back from our show we had a nightcap which was very expensive (£22 for 2 drinks) and bar service was very slow. We took our drinks back to our room because the bar area was too cold. There is plenty of choice at breakfast which was very good. I would probably return here because of its location but go elsewhere for dinner and drinks

Good morning DM2303, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review regarding your recent stay with us at the Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow SEC. I am happy to hear that overall you had an enjoyable stay with us. I am sorry to hear you were experiencing some problems with the heating in your room. We do not control the heating from reception, we do have a panel where we can help to change the settings for the rooms. Unfortunately, due to unexpected cold weather we were not able heat up the whole of the ground floor to the temperature we would have liked, which we apologise for. We have a new management team in our restaurant and there are some exciting changes coming soon! I do hope we will have the chance to welcome you back in the near future! Kind regards, Bianka

First time staying here and it was a very pleasant experience. Easy check in, helpful friendly staff. Room extremely clean and comfortable and very close to the OVO Hydro. Room was on 8th floor with views out over the city, although the arena carpark was in the foreground. As the hotel is very close to the Hydro events centre this has to be expected and was not a problem for us. Have to use room key to operate lift which was good, stops just anyone accessing the bedroom floors. Very wide hallways and the rooms were well soundproofed so you didn't hear corridor noise. The room had a comfy king size bed, plus desk, wardrobe, swivel chair, footstool and table. Also provided in the room was a safe, mini fridge, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, ice bucket, tea & coffee, dressing gowns, alarm clock and a huge TV. Bathroom was well stocked with toiletries and fluffy towels. Very good lighting all round. Although the room was quite warm when we checked in, the air conditioning soon had that sorted. Breakfast was well covered with fruit, continental style, cooked Scottish, pastries, cereals and juices and even though it came from a machine, the coffee was surprisingly good. We should have booked a table for dinner before we checked in as it was a busy night and there was nothing available at the time we needed. We did however find a good place to eat about 8 mins walk from the hotel on Argyle Street. Needed a taxi when we checked out so asked a member of reception staff if they could order one and before we left the front desk the taxi was there waiting for us. Excellent service. Would definitely stay there again.

We booked to stay here on Saturday 23rd April, 2022 as we were attending a concert at the OVO Hydro. We arrived at 4.30pm and the queue for check-in was massive and went all the way round the lobby and bar areas, which was a health and safety issue. Guests at the bar were unable to enjoy their drinks due to people in the queue complaining. We were told the reason for the rooms not being ready was due to it being the busiest day for the hotel and there was a problem with the linen delivery?? We stood in the slow moving queue for 2 hours and still there were about 8 people in front of us to check in. As we were going to the VIP suite at the OVO we had to be there for 6.30pm. As I was unable to get into my room for a shower, I had no choice but to change in the toilet, which was totally unacceptable. When we returned at 11.30pm after the concert, we got into our room which at first glance looked fine. We went down to the lobby bar for a night cap and again there was a queue. The price of the drinks was also an absolute rip off. We had to ask one of the reception staff if they could clear a table for us, as all the tables had filthy glasses and remnants of food. We were also told that the actual reason for the disaster at check-in was due to staff shortages…. We were then told it would probably be chaos with more queues at breakfast time, no surprise if they don’t have the staff. The staff were trying to do their best but why there was Manager available to speak to anyone regarding their complaints begs belief, considering it was their busiest day and there were major problems, The room itself was spacious & clean. The bed was very soft, lumpy and uncomfortable. There were only disposable cups in the room for your tea/coffee - not what you expect in a ‘4* hotel’. This has to be the worst experience we have had at any hotel and I can definitely state that we will never use this hotel again. In fact it is doubtful we will use any Marriott hotel in the future as the experience was so bad…………

Good Afternoon Jean M, On behalf of the management team here at the hotel I want to thank you for your recent TripAdvisor review following you’re stay with us here in Courtyard by Marriott SEC. I am extremely sorry and embarrassed by the experience you and many others had with us at the weekend, and I am sad to read that your stay with us was less than enjoyable owing to the several housekeeping and room availability issues, among other things that you encountered during your stay. Courtyard by Marriott SEC prides itself on delivering high standards of customer service and achieving high levels of guest satisfaction, however, on this occasion it’s very clear we did not deliver this. Whilst we have missed the opportunity to reassure you in person, your valuable feedback enables us to ensure that we have taken appropriate measures to prevent such issues reoccurring in the future. I know the front of house team worked extremely hard in what was a most unusual situation that we found ourselves in, on what happened to be as you say one of the busiest event nights to come to the city. Our department heads on duty were behind the scenes trying to help sort some kind of solution and sincerely apologise for the lack of presence in the hotel lobby, a representative was speaking with and informing guests of the situation but we do understand that we could have done more. We have put many procedures in place following last weekend that will combat things like this ever happening again. I am extremely sorry I didn't get the chance to meet with you, I would like to apologise again that we were unable to make this a memorable experience for you for the right reasons, especially as you were in Glasgow for such a long awaited, highly anticipated rescheduled event at the neighbouring OVO Hydro. These are issues which were avoidable, and I promise you that as a brand-new hotel to the area we have learned from these unfortunate occurrences. Thank you again for this valuable feedback, warm regards, Martyn & Courtyard SEC team

Booked here for just an overnight stay after a concert at the Hydro and was very happy with the service. Particularly the restaurant staff.

The evening meal on the Friday was delicious and very reasonably priced. I would have liked a little more choice but overall was great.
Again Breakfast on the Saturday was great, standard buffet style which we received complementary as hadn’t originally planned to have breakfast so that was a lovely gesture from the staff.
The 12 noon check out & breakfast served till 11am was brilliant.

We had a twin room, beds were very comfy and the curtains didn’t let in any light which was amazing!
No noise from other guests in the halls either.

Only thing knocking off a point in the review is there was a smell in the room, like damp (room 221) it was only really noticeable when entering the room so we didn’t bother to mention it.

Overall a great stay and will definitely return.

Good Afternoon Sheepburd, Thank you very much for the review you recently posted. It was wonderful to read that you enjoyed your visit. I'm happy that you mentioned our food & beverage offering and the team in the hotel. We are trying to stand out by offering something different than just a traditional hotel restaurant menu and I also understand you would have liked to have seen more options on there but rest assured our menu is very much still in the early stages as we are a young hotel to the city so watch this space. Your kind words will be communicated to the team, who I am sure will be as pleased as I was to hear your praise. I will inform our maintenance manager of the smell in the room and we will absolutely investigate it so thank you for bringing it to our attention. I hope we can welcome you back to the hotel when your travels bring you back to the area, or an event at the OVO Hydro. warm regards, Martyn & Courtyard SEC team

Arrived at 4pm to be told no rooms were ready as no bed linen. 7pm and room still not ready. Got changed in a toilet with my husband and went to concert. On our return to the hotel at 10.45pm they then still wanted to charge me £161 for the room for the night and couldn't guarantee the manager would reduce the price tomorrow morning. Told them to shove it and phoned a taxi from Falkirk to come and collect us. 1 member of staff on the bar, no availability for food, no toilet paper in ladies loos. Lift not stopping at any floors apart from 1 and 9, anti skid plates on steps outside falling off. The place is worse than faulty towers. Absolute disgrace and we will never be back. Completely destroyed my weekend with my husband and so glad to be home. Marriot should be ashamed!!!!!

My mum and I stayed here for her birthday, because she's spoilt. I mean pampered.
The staff are wonderful. Kind, friendly and super knowledgeable about the local area. They wished mum a happy birthday on the day (see? Spoilt!) and were so kind when we were frazzled and just wanted to take some food up to our room and bed down like the piglets we are. Which brings me to-
The food is absolutely gorgeous! Please, try the calamari and the pudding trio. Burger was also top notch and great salads.
Room was lovely and clean. Room service is super- I accidentally left my retainer on my pillow one morning (yes, I know, I'm gross) and when I came back, it was daintily beside my freshly made bed. Sorry to whoever had to pick that up!
One night was a bit disturbed by traffic noise, but unless they have a pet traffic warden, not much the hotel can do about that.
In summary- great stay!

I initially booked one night to treat my son before he went back to school as he loves this hotel. This was done via booking.com. I then thought well, why not make it a proper trip and extend by a day. So I requested via booking.com to extend one more day (there was availability), but was declined and told via message from the hotel through booking.com that there was no availability at all.

I then checked again, there still were rooms, but strangely, more expensive than the day before! I then rang the hotel, who also told me there was no availability, and that they had no control over hotel pricing...

This then led me to Marriot's own website, and sure enough there was also availability there. I booked a room there, at a slightly higher rate than I originally enquired about.

Check in was no problem, although they weren't aware of our second night, and it was mentioned 'I don't even know how it let you book'. This was disconcerting, but the second reservation was found. I enquired if we would have to move rooms and was told no it would be fine (luckily!), but we would have to change key cards in the morning.

The room cleaning could be a little more thorough this time I believe. There was mould in the bathroom shower. A sock, and dirty glass under my sons fold out bed. The conditioner had only a tiny little bit left in it. Our room was not serviced at all on day 2, we were out most of the day, and nobody knocked. The fact that the shower curtain didn't go all the way around in this room I think impacted a bit on the floor being utterly soaked all the way to the door to the bedroom, and we had to use towels to soak it up otherwise the bathroom would be unusable. We also had to go ask for toilet roll as we ran out due to no housekeeping.

On check out day at around 10am (we forgot to put the do not disturb sign on) housekeeping asked to service the room, but said they would come back later. Around 20 minutes later she tried again, and entered our room but we were still packing, showering etc. Check out isn't until 12, so surely there could be some mechanism for checking.

Breakfast was good both days, however on day 2 the orange juice ran out and was not replenished. The bar area is lovely and relaxing and usually quiet.

My husband used the gents toilet in the bar area, and there was no toilet roll in it, so he had to use the disabled toilet.

Staff are always helpful, although I think with the bus load of tourists that arrived I believe they were a little flustered this time which may have had a bit of an impact. Nothing was too much of a problem if you asked. It's just the fact that you had to ask when basics are expected for the price paid.

Would I return? Yes I think so, nothing majorly wrong with the stay just little niggles that I think need to be looked at before they become a bigger problem.

From the minute you walk into this hotel, to the minute you leave, you are treated so well!! Every single member of staff is so lovely and polite in the hotel.

On arrival we were checked in nice and quick and the gentleman who checked us in was amazing with my 5 year old daughter. He made her feel important and spoke to her about the Strictly Tour which we were going to see at the hydro that night. I didn’t have breakfast included in my booking, but decided to add it on and we were kindly only charged for one breakfast due to my daughter being so young!
We also got a free room upgrade - unsure if this was through the hotel or booking.com, but it was fab and we had an amazing view from our 8th floor room.
The hotel is perfect if you’re attending an event at the hydro as it’s literally across the road. There’s also a multi storey car park right behind it and if you stay at the hotel they’ll validate your ticket so parking for 24 hours only costs £8.
Breakfast at the hotel was brilliant, a huge choice of food from cereal, pastries, hot food and they cater for everyone!
The lady who checked us out was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. She’s definitely in the right job as her customer service is second to none! As someone who works in customer service in a front facing role, I know the job can sometimes be challenging, but this lady was fab (sorry I didn’t catch her name).
Every single person in the hotel made such an effort with my daughter - so much so that she wanted to stay an extra night. But it’s not often you go somewhere and so many people interact with kids or make them feel important, so thank you!

Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those looking for somewhere to stay close to the hydro/SECC. Looking forward to coming back in April when we see Kevin Hart at the hydro!
