Stayed here for four nights. Booked a double room, requested a light and airy room, preferably on the ground floor and at the back of the building. Requests fully met. Had a large high ceiling room, very clean and comfortable. Location is excellent. All staff were friendly and pleasant. I really enjoyed the cooked breakfast every morning. In terms of value for money in a city hotel bearing in mind the location, well I wish had found this place before. Have had many short breaks in Glasgow over the years but have to say that in terms of value for money, this is the best. Another bonus was the parking. Don’t know whether I was just lucky but managed to find a spot right outside the hotel and at £4 per day, well what can I say. On account of the location didn’t need to drive anywhere anyway. So if you want a good and reasonably priced hotel in a brilliant location you will be hard pressed to find a better one than the Sandyford Lodge.

Good points - nice big room . Friendly lady on arrival , managed to get parked right outside hotel. Shower was good . Close to everything you need .

Bad points - room was cold due to the old windows there was gaps where you could see outside.
The oldish man on reception wasnt very chatty at night . Tried to speak to him for conversation but he wasnt interested . Asked him for a jug of fresh milk was happy to pay he said they didnt do milk even though its avaiable for breakfast.
Myself and partner had full breakfast . Bacon was far to under cooked and the poached eggs where too raw . Our son was dissappointed as there was limited choices on cereals not really any childrens cereal there was only cornflakes museli etc . Should have something for the kids such as rice krispies coco pops etc .

Would we return - yes but would hope.for a better breakfast experience

Stayed here in April 22 for 1 night, the hotel is about a 10 min bus journey away from the centre of Glasgow with the bus stop 50 yards away, the area was lovely and peaceful.
The room was fantastic, nicely decorated, clean, comfy bed, small en suite shower room which was good.
The breakfast was excellent, good choice to cater for all needs.

Where to begin? Check in wasn’t a great experience. Greeted by a man who looked like he’d rather be anywhere but there and he didn’t listen. I asked to borrow a pen to fill out my car registration number on the parking pass you have to buy to park outside the hotel and he took the pass back out of my hand and scratched of the date panels on it like i was stupid and he even told me how to put it in the car!
So up to our room number 18 on the top floor. Room was huge. Double bed and a single bed (although I had booked a double)
I put my bottle of water on the bedside cabinet and it slid towards the edge. I picked it up and put it back down towards the back of the cabinet and again it slid down to the front. The floor was not level and sloped down from the wall behind the bed to the inner wall. It was very unbalancing and made you feel like you were drunk. The bathroom was the same. The shower is located over the bath. It was difficult to stand in the bath and enjoy the shower.
Breakfast was served in the basement. Cereals were available as were slices of processed cheese and cheese triangles sitting in a basket? The breakfast wasn’t particularly memorable and the two ladies serving made no attempt to socialise with the guests at all.
The whole experience was very impersonal and despite being told it was a 24hr reception there was no one there when we checked out just an ice-cream tub with a hand written note to leave keys in it
Definitely would not recommend

Room adequate but rather dark. Toilet had not been cleaned: there were hairs on the toilet rim; faecal matter inside the bowl: the toilet seat had become loose and faecal matter that was trapped underneath the toilet seat fixings was visible. And there was just one three-quarter used toilet roll with no spares provided.

The shower tray also filled up when having a shower so that also needed unblocking.

When my husband emailed the manager about these matters, no reply was forthcoming. He spoke to Receptionist, who was helpful, and they were dealt with the next day, but only as a result of him personally going to Reception. Disappointingly, no apology was given by management/owner, no response to the email and no offer of compensation.

Next day, after the room had been serviced, the shower mat had been taken away but not replaced. When we asked for a replacement, the Receptionist (a different one) told us she needed to come and inspect to ensure that this had not been provided, which seemed unnecessary and intrusive; however we were told this was because the housemaid would be made to account for this! The Receptionist appeared to be following the hotel’s protocol, and this may be suggestive of a systemic problem in managing staff.

Breakfast was provided in another building (Hotel Sandyford Lodge) to which we had to exit the property and walk on the street – not a problem but would have been good to know beforehand. On weekdays, breakfast is served only until 8.30am and as we were on holiday, we did not go to breakfast until 8.30 am, and felt very rushed. Our cooked breakfast was brought out while we were still on our first course, and they started putting everything away very quickly while we were still having breakfast, which did not make for a particularly relaxed start to the day. The staff seemed to be under much pressure but were not impolite.

Overall, we were not overly impressed with Sandyford Lodge and would not choose to return there again. The owner/management need to take note of these failings: definitely needs improvement and ‘could do better’.

My family stayed at the Sandyford Lodge from 8 Dec to 10 Dec 2022. Booked 2 rooms - 2 bedder and 3 bedder. It is located very near University of Glasgow, which was the main reason why I booked here and walking distance to the city center. The rooms are clean and size is reasonable. Comfy bed and pillow. Very pleasant and very approachable staff. The reception is manned 24/7. This is important because of security as well as immediate assistance if required. My daughters encountered an issue with the heater in their 3 bedder room around 9 pm. A call was made and the staff came up to resolve it. Issue resolved within a few mins. An offer to bring in portable heater was made by the staff if there are any further heating issues. Breakfast was very good - full Scottish breakfast.

I would stay again in Sandyford Lodge when I return to Glasgow in the future for 2 reasons, other than the above-mentioned:

1. The staff provides a very homely environment. It is like visiting your Uncle and Aunty house, where you know you and your family will be taken care of and fed well during meal times.
2. It is the cheapest accommodation from my 2 weeks tour of the UK. Very valued accommodation indeed!!!

Nice hotel - Room was pleasant and had everything you would need. We had a ground floor room at the front of the hotel and had no issue with traffic noise as the hotel is set back a bit from the busy road. Staff were friendly and the included breakfast was very good.

It was only a short walk to pubs and restaurants. We were attending an event at the Hydro and it was only around a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Great stopover at a reasonable price. The staff were very friendly & helpful with information regarding our visit.
The room was very comfortable, spacious & clean with tea & coffee making facilities.
Breakfast in the morning was very good with fruits, cereals & juices all provided before a nice cooked breakfast.
Would gladly stay again when visiting Glasgow.

Reception Staff very helpful and friendly . Offered me a reserved parking space instead of paying £4 an hour on the street not their fault blame the SNP and the greens for over charging Tourist. Loads of space in hotel room and breakfast was great . Breakfast staff reminded me of Rab C Nesbitt sketch . Down to earth and very friendly . Just what I like .

Hi folks Not a locked storage room as such or if there was it was never brought to my attention. Having said that items placed in the room are generally quite safe as only you and staff have access to room. Staff won't go in room without your permition and I can assure you they won't steal your stuff. Having said that staff are friendly and approachable so if you explained the situation to them I am sure they would be most glad to help. Hope this has been a help. If you need more help I am always in touch. Scott Rolland
