Detailed Reviews
My train back to England had been cancelled so I decided to stay in a hotel near the station with my toddler and stumbled upon Grasshoppers and I'm so, so happy I did. I don't stay in many hotels but it is definitely the best hotel stay I can remember and I've recommended it to the train station staff for people who find themselves in similar situations and I've also recommended it already to my partner and friends.
The room was gorgeous, spacious, spotless, had everything you could possibly need and I loved the mid-century touches.
The staff, especially Brooke and Michelle, were unbelievably helpful and understanding considering I was pretty stressed and managing my "adventurous" toddler by myself - eg they held him for a little bit whilst I packed, they showed me on numerous occasions how to work the TV remote and they gave us fresh milk for his bottle at night and were very understanding that he wanted nothing more than to toddle around the entire hotel and say hi to everyone!
The other really striking thing was all the smaller, thoughtful touches such as the sitting room with cafetieres and coffee, that they give you fresh milk, not long-life little cartons, and the free cake! How have I not mentioned the free cake yet?! Incredible!
I live in London so I probably have a skewed perception of prices but I couldn't believe that we walked in off the street and got a gorgeous double room (including breakfast and all the little extras) for £75. It feels genuinely like some of the best money I've ever spent.
I noticed there were a lot of rooms empty which made me a bit sad. From the street you could easily miss that it's hotel and then the signage inside up to the 6th floor isn't good either so that could be improved so that more people find this absolute gem.
I hope to go back soon with my partner. Thanks for turning a night that I was dreading into a lovely memory.

I stayed here off/on recently while my flat was undergoing major work. The street entrance is far from imposing but coming out of the lift at the hotel on the 6th floor is like entering another world. Very calming with beautiful light wooden floors. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated with a feature wall covered in hand made wallpaper, The bed linen is top class and towels fluffy. Evening meals (served Monday to Wednesday) are exceptional and served in the very informal Kitchen. It is a very relaxing place to stay - a home from home with little treats of assorted baking and wonderful hand-made ice-cream. The staff are all wonderful and instantly made me feel welcome. I have recommended it to my friends who plan to visit.

This hotel is somewhere I'd highly recommend and we'll most definitely be revisiting. Completely spotless throughout with decent sized rooms (people staying more than a few nights may prefer something a little larger),the beds are super comfy, and linen is of high quality. Location cannot be beaten for those wanted wanting to explore the city, do take advantage of the discounted parking if driving (see website for details).
Lovely touches included free baked goods (cakes, sausage rolls), ice ream, and in room French press and kettle for tea and coffee. Breakfast offers both cooked options, and cerals/fruit and yoghurt. The biggest plus point is the staff - all we met were incredibly friendly and helpful, a real credit to the hotel.

Grasshoppers is a well located, comfortable and exceptionally clean property. Uniquely situated in the top floor of a building in the Central Station complex, it was not noisy. Staff were friendly, especially at breakfast and homemade treats abound, during our stay, complimentary cakes and cookies, homemade mince pies and mulled wine. The rooms are on the small side and the furnishings, what I would call, Scandinavian or minimalist. The most important aspect, the bed was comfortable and the linens are high-quality as advertised. The bathroom was also smallish but the shower hot and powerful. A quality ceiling fan kept us cool enough. Breakfast was traditional and kept fresh by being made in small batches - a lighter yogurt option was also available. Location is central to everything but the unassuming entrance and the characters that hang around most city Central stations might make you a little nervous at your booking choice- frankly, and no fault of the hotel, a picture of the entrance street probably would have eliminated the hotel from consideration. Parking is independent and available close enough. Be sure to use their recommended car park or you will pay more than 25 GBP a day. Having excessive or large luggage may be awkward. So, what’s the bottom line? Read their website, it’s accurate. A perfectly nice stay as long as you understand your choice. .

We stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend and it is definitely the best hotel we have stayed in for the price in Glasgow. It is very central, the rooms are clean and spacious and the staff are very warm and friendly.
There were some really nice touches. Some lovely cup cakes were left in the room for us and fresh coffee and a cafetiere was provided.
If you book directly, breakfast is included within the room rate, so be careful if you book via the likes of Booking.com. Breakfast was good quality and plentiful.
The only slight negative is you could be put off by looking at the ground level, as it's not particularly nice, but all the rooms are on the 6th floor and are lovely.
Despite being very close to the train station, we heard no train noise at all.
We will definitely return - thank you!

Grasshoppers and is wonderful place. The rooms are bright, airy and there are some lovely quirky touches (a packet of Smarties and two bottles of highland spring water in the room!) as well as real coffee (you grab fresh milk and your coffee choice and brew it up in a cafeteria in your room) and the girls bake cupcakes which you can enjoy too. Breakfast was superb and served in a lovely bright breakfast room. Grasshoppers is ideal for exploring Glasgow and being two steps away from Central station makes it an ideal place to stay. I highly recommend Grasshoppers. Wonderful!

Come snuggle right up where the Grasshopper lives
And see what a welcoming chirrup it gives,
For there’s cupcakes to go, and the rooms are just so,
And all the staff give you a smiling “Hello!”;
Ice creams if you’re hot, cup cakes if you’re not,
And it’s all home-made, not commercial one jot;
Fresh milk on demand for your coffee and tea,
As much as you want, and all of it’s free.
The linen is fresh and even the nesh
Will be warm enough wrapped in its cottony mesh.
Big local etchings to buy for your wall
And pretty glass birds to spruce up your hall;
The dinners were super, we ate every bit,
And there wasn’t a rush, we could stay and just sit.
And there’s even a poem! From Jane – the Queen Bee?
Or is she a visitor, someone like me?
The staff give you help to get you around –
What a fine Grasshopper we seem to have found!
(Nesh is Yorkshire for ‘feeling the cold easily’)

Grasshoppers is a curious hotel, located on the top floor (with elevator) of a commercial building right next to the Central Station. The entire hotel floor has been nicely designed, with some interesting views over the central part of Glasgow. Rooms are also well-designed, though a bit small, and dark. The breakfast room is on the interior, and there's a decent array of choices, including nicely prepared eggs etc. All in all, it's an ok spot but the somewhat odd setting makes it feel a bit more like a quirky modern guest house than a traditional hotel.

The hotel is ideally situated near Glasgow Central station. The outside entrance bears no resemblance to the hotel itself. Two lifts are available to take you to the 6th floor. The reception area is light and airy and staff were always very helpful. We could pick up free cupcakes every day from a table nearby. Fresh milk was always available on request. Although our room was not huge, it was perfectly acceptable and the ensuite shower room was spacious. The room was very clean and had a ceiling fan to cool it down. We also found an electric fan had been put in our room without us requesting it. We did not have the breakfasts, but did have supper one evening which was fine.

This is a great place for a stay in central Glasgow, extremely convenient for Central Station as well as shops ,bars and restaurants. The hotel is on the 6th floor of a refurbished old sandstone building. It is beautifully decorated and laid out in two parallel corridors. The rooms are compact but very well designed and comfortable and quiet for the central location. One of our rooms was without coat hooks which the other had and these were needed to keep organised in the smallish space but otherwise the rooms were well equipped. The shower was great although one morning one failed to produce hot water. The explanation was that the tank had probably been emptied by other guests showering. The sitting room is a lovely idea as is the provision of complimentary cupcakes and ice cream and the "honesty bar" wine and beer. Breakfast was a little cramped but was good value and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay.

No safe.Staff will assist you.Very accommodating.
Yes, there 2 elevators which will bring you up to the 6th floor where we are located.
Hair dryers are available from reception.
They have an arrangement with a garage about 3 blocks away for reasonable parking rates. We didn’t use our car in Glasgow- difficult urban setting with lots of one way streets and pedestrian areas. Loved Glasgow. Lots of fun. The hotel is unusual. One floor of a large building next to and overlooking the train station.
They let us check our bags. No problem. This is a great hotel with great staff in a GREAT city. Can’t wait to go back:)
