ABode Glasgow garners praise for its friendly staff and art deco charm, creating a sophisticated atmosphere that guests enjoy, alongside its central location that puts city attractions within easy reach. However, the experience is marred for some due to noise, dated rooms, and sporadic housekeeping, leading to mixed opinions on the hotel's value.
While certain amenities like the unique lift and comfortable beds are appreciated, inconsistent service and maintenance issues leave room for improvement.

Stayed one overnight just after New Year. Hotel was beautiful. Staff extremely helpful and keen to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Room was beautiful and very clean. Breakfast had a large selection of choices and the hotel's central location was ideal for exploring the city.

A wonderful hotel in the heart of Glasgow, with outstanding hospitality! We received such a warm welcome from Halley (sp?) which made our visit unforgettable. Great coffee making facilities in the room and particularly enjoyed the availability of extra treats, even though there was a small charge for most of them. Being able to control the heating in our room and the bathroom was a definite plus. As more and more hotels and B&Bs offer only a shower, we were delighted to have both a bath and a shower. In a country where rain is ubiquitous, a lovely, hot bath is important!

Hotel is wonderfully located in the city.
The building is beautiful with a stunning interior. Rooms very clean and well presented.
Bathroom is dated and in need of some TLC, the shower head is close to the wall and standing below it means standing where the bath slopes, quite dangerous, you can see the bath is quite warn at this point too.
Very comfortable beds, aircon and heating great for controlling temperature.
Staff very friendly, they called us to let us know our room was ready early after we dropped our bags off, nice touch.
Would have given 5 star but for a couple of things:
One of the bedside lamps didn't work, this should be checked before a guest comes to stay, very basic.
Breakfast, continental but really a bit of a random mixture of items that don't marry up, could limit waste by giving a breakfast card to choose what you want, as my wife barely touched anything provided.
The biggest problem for me was, despite being a 4 star, there were no complimentary drinks in the room (aside from cheap coffee), we arrived to see cans of juice, tunnocks cakes and nespresso pods, but these all had to be paid for, and a can cost ÂŁ2.75!!! It was just sitting out, not in a fridge either, so a warm can of coke of ÂŁ2.75. In a 4 star they could at the very least put these items in a fridge or provide them complimentary as other 4 stars during our stay had done. i thought this was exceptionally poor behaviour form the hotel, and such a stupid thing to have your reputation lowered over.

This hotel is full of character and bang in the centre of everything in Glasgow. It used to be the Arthouse and the rooms reflect this as a theme.
The room we stayed in didn’t disappoint, and was blessed with an enormous bed and the highest ceiling in any hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. The bathroom, I have today, slightly let it down; large enough but rather pedestrian compared to the bedroom and not that much shelf space.
Also, we had issues with the heating (it was boiling in the room) but the very friendly staff fixed that, as they did with other minor niggles.
The Q Multi-storey car park is right across the road and the hotel subsides the fee so that it is only ÂŁ9 per day per car for guests of the hotel, so a definite plus.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
As I didn’t have the breakfast I can’t comment on that.
In summary, a good place to stay right in the city centre, especially if you have a car.

Very good value stay in Glasgow set in a interesting building. Loved the atrium and vintage lift! We paid a resonable price for an upgrade to the suite and was worth every penny. Lack of breakfast was annoying but we went to the butterfly and pig next door which was outstanding!

The maids never once changed the bed sheets in 5 straight nites while I was staying there. I was extremely ill and weak on this business trip, and once back at the hotel at nite, the bed was made up, but never changed my sweating cold sheets. I was sure each nite they would, but never did. I had 2 runs to the hospital and just wanted to sleep, so I kept thinking new sheets would be done, but no! I didnt want to get up and leave room and come back at 10pm to have to ask for it all. So silly and lazy. also, the radiator heater never work. Only the above heating fan, but it blow cool air. I thought thats how it worked as a foreigner, not knowing the system there. The engineer had to come and turn on the radiator to heat the room. So ridiculous as it was Jan 2-7. No heat on? Cheap to conserve on their bills. I bundled up, and thought thats how it was there, and didnt want to seem rude about it, til I found out, they only turn heat on upon request, even in the winter. Stupid . They never comped me for a nite of all of this, and defended their lazy maid, and told me I should have read the pamplet for heating instructions. My company called them 3 times to make sure heat was full on prior to my visit as i was coming into it sick already across the atlantic They ignored the requests. Only apologized and nothing more as I made my way to the hospital twice and shivered the entire time. poor mngt responses. Never again.

We stayed here for just one night.
It’s a very nice building with a 1930’s lift/elevator which adds a nice point of interest.
The location is perfect for easy walking to city centre.
Reception was professional and welcoming.
The room was a decent size, though not very big.
A very comfortable bed. Air conditioning.
The bathroom is just big enough but for old building city centre hotel it’s decent size.
It was clean and modern, with a very good shower.
One item missing was a simple suitcase stand.
Breakfast is served in the adjoining Bistro but the service was extremely slow.
We had to wait 45 minutes to be served.
There seemed to be enough staff and they seemed to be experienced and professional (apologetic to every table for the delay) so the issue must be in the kitchen.
It’s all a lá carte, no buffet. And it’s decent choice but not very extensive.
I had the Shakahouka, which should have had two soft baked eggs but they were tough and leathery.
The toast was plentiful but it wasn’t actually toasted, just heated bread. Maybe turn up the toaster and turn down the oven! They also had run out of orange juice.
We had a similar experience in the Manchester Abode, the bistro was very unprofessional and the breakfast room was a complete disaster.
Abode does excellent hotel rooms but can’t seem to get the food experience right.

We have just checked out after our 1 night stay at Abode and I would definitely recommend. The staff were great, unfortunately I didn’t get any names of the front of house team but everybody we spoke to was super friendly and helpful. A special shout out to the young blonde gentleman who said he was still fairly new to the hotel, he was great! When we arrived our room wasn’t quite ready yet which we didn’t mind too much as we were wanting to go for a wonder around Glasgow anyway, I also work in a hotel myself and know the struggles hospitality is facing right now. Whilst we were out the gentleman then rang us to say our room was now ready which I think was excellent service.
The beds were very comfy, especially after a week of camping in the Scottish highlands and the room was just as expected from the photos on the website. The hotel itself was lovely with lots of original features. Although we didn’t get time to have a drink in the bar, the bar looks lovely too.
The only thing I would say is that there was 2 small bottles of water in our bedroom, I would have expected these to be complimentary but were in fact ÂŁ2 each.
Overall, we are very happy with our stay and the staff were an absolute credit.

It's a fabulous building, right in the heart of the city and the reception staff are fantastic. That's the good bit.
The room we had was a bit tired-looking with a few minor things needing attention. It was also very hot, so we had to keep the windows open all the time which, on a Saturday night in Glasgow, can be quite a lively experience! The bed was a bit harder than I'd like and the pillows much too soft. A rather noisy door connected our annexe to the rest of the building - and we got temporarily locked out when a scheduled service update left our key card inoperative. Again, reception staff resolved it right away, but it shouldn't have happened as we were mid-stay.
Our one request for housekeeping was not met for whatever reason. Personally, I'm not that fussed about having the bed made/towels straightened & all we wanted was replenishing of tea/water/milk. Once again, the reception staff came through solidly. It did feet as though they were taking up a lot of slack in the running of the place. It all felt like it was being done on the bare minimum of staffing
For a hotel that places itself more at the luxury end of the market, it did feel like a lot of the details that go into making a stay feel special were simply missing. There's currently no restaurant (so no room service), and breakfast is a ridiculous ÂŁ18pp. We gave it a miss & found some superb breakfasts elsewhere (try Wilson St Pantry) for a fraction of the price.
Having opted to upgrade our hotel this time, it felt a bit disappointing overall & lacked that extra 'swish' factor to make it feel special.

The staff were helpful and kind, the room was clean. There was no fridge in the room. The room itself was average.
The breakfast hamper wasn’t amended to accommodate for a diary allergy. The first mornings hamper included a jar of soya for the coffee/ cereal but that was it- other diary based items included butter, croissant, yogurt and cheese. The following morning cows milk was provided.
The room was too hot. The temperature gage for the air con went down to 19 degrees and the windows were screwed shut (understandably as air con was provided) however the room was still uncomfortably stuffy. The manager was consulted but we were informed this was the lowest it went.
Will be staying elsewhere in the future- £100 a night for an uncomfortable sleep and a breakfast you can’t eat (not ideal).
Would think it’s the booking process that needs to be amended and that the company need to re-look at their hamper making/ordering.
