Nestled in the heart of Glasgow, Malmaison Glasgow garners attention for its comfortable rooms and hearty breakfast options, while its cleanliness is frequently celebrated by guests. The hotel's service is generally admired for its professionalism and friendliness, adding to the unique and stylish ambiance that characterizes its eclectic atmosphere. Although the rooms offer a cozy retreat, opinions vary regarding their decor and noise insulation. Its prime location is a highlight for guests eager to explore the city. However, the value proposition elicits mixed feelings, with some guests questioning the pricing in relation to their experiences.

Just back from 4 nights here. Stayed in a duplex suite which was very spacious with the bed upstairs. Bed was big and very comfortable . Room was equipped with coffee machine, kettle, tea bags, iron, bathrobes, slippers , mini fridge, 2 tvs . There was also a stocked mini bar with drinks etc. No air con but room was warm and comfortable with the rads. Two skylights with great views over Glasgow. Bathroom was quite small with shower ( which ran hot & cold at times) in the bath. Room was spotless and housekeeping did a great job during our stay. Place was spotless and coffee pods , tea , sugar etc all replenished daily.
We were met on arrival at reception by two very friendly and efficient girls. Helped us out at various times over our stay with maps , directions etc. Location is excellent . 10 mins walk into city, 50 mins to Celtic Park, 10 mins to airport bus stop. Loads of bars and restaurants within walking distance.
The only downside for me was the bar. Very few customers using it during our stay. We visited it on first night and informed they didnt serve pints. Thought it was strange. They serve something called schooners which is apparently 3/4 pint. We were told it is to stop people drinking too much. 🤔 Because of its location there are many other hotels , bars and restaurants near so maybe this was one of the reasons the bar was so quiet during our trip. If you want a pint there is a hotel called the Dakota almost beside which had a great bar that was very busy. Also the State bar is a nice friendly bar within walking distance. Overall very good stay in a nice comfortable hotel with lovely staff which is in a very good location. Only downside for me was being told they didnt serve pints in their bar.

We stayed in the Malmaison Glasgow for two nights. Check in on a Saturday afternoon was quick but we were lucky to get there before a long queue formed.
Check in staff were efficient, helpful and friendly which gave me a very good first impression of the hotel.
The room was very spacious, had lots of amenities and was very clean.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there were several measures in place to make sure that all guests can have a safe stay such as sanitation of rooms between old guests checking out and new guests checking in. Another measure was a simple one way system.
However there were a few measures which I didn’t like but it is completely understandable that they had to take place.
One of these was that our rooms were not to be cleaned until we check out. This is understandable and if you really want your room to be cleaned, you can ask for it to be refreshed (beds done up and just general cleaning of room to a certain extent).
However the condition I didn’t like the most was that the restaurant only is open for breakfast on weekends. This is due to the low number of guests on the weekdays. This means that if you are staying here on a weekday, you have to have room service and you can’t have any cooked breakfast, only the continental breakfast. I found this a bit annoying as I usually love Malmaison breakfasts but it was fine as I only had to have it once. This was specific to Malmaison Glasgow and it may be different in other Malmaison hotels.
Our stay was lovely though and the hotel has easy access to nearby restaurants and the city centre. I also can’t fault the service.
As usual I highly recommend Malmaison hotels!

My husband an I stay for two nights in early September. We were greeted by a very helpful and informative Irish concierge. Our standard room was on the third floor and we were most impressed by the well appointed facilities (nothing in fridge due to COVID). The batthroom was well equipped with a large window and good lighting as well as lovely fluffy towels and gorgeous smelly soaps. My husband moaned about the lack of a good shaving mirror and I had to kneel on the toilet seat to do my make up.

The bed was super comfy with quality linen et cetera, Tea and coffee facilities were also good. Breakfast was superb (we opted for the extra £4 pp cooked breakfast). The staff were extremely polite and attentive without being obtrusive.

Anyone worried about staying during the COVID-19 pandemic need not worry. The hotel seemed to be on top of it and it did not impact on the quality of our stay.

The staff make the hotel.

Upon arrival at Malmaison I was impressed with the welcome in reception and initial impression of my bedroom but then as I settled in I ound a number of disappointing features and then on my checkout day some most unsatisfactory service.

The room has no air conditioning which would be most unsatisfactory in warmer months.

Next day noise from vacuuming of corridor started from 8am.

Breakfast at £17 was most unsatisfactory. There were few other guests when I arrived in fact one guest but I was made to wait as staff were preoccupied with the online register.

I was asked if I would like tea or coffee and any toast. I ordered tea which came but lukewarm. I was then presented with toast as I started my cereal so was cold by the time I came to eat it. I then had to ask for marmalade as the tables only had little jars or honey or jam. When I asked for fresh and warm toast and marmalade I was then presented with a small dish with a blob of non descriptive marmalade with a desert spoon plonked in it. Hardly what I expect in Scotland and at a cost of £17!

Dear KingstonTraveller55, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are happy to hear you were given a warm welcome to the hotel and for the most part that you enjoyed your visit. Sadly not all of our rooms benefit from having air conditioning. We have our central heating throughout the building which has been at a high setting during the winter months, this will be adjusted accordingly as we move into the spring and summer months. It's disappointing that breakfast service wasn't up to standard on your final morning. We will address your comments directly with our Brasserie team to ensure the high standards of service we are normally so well renowned for are being consistently met across the hotel. I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the bear future. Best Regards, Chris

We found this hotel incredibly poor value for our money. Having travelled extensively we were shocked and extremely disappointed considering this is a well known hotel chain with a good reputation.
The room- inadequate heating control, no heating or ventilation in the bathroom( radiator stone cold with no way of turning on and mirror steamed up and took ages to de mist after showering so impossible for shaving, poor lighting in the room, bed was uncomfortable (soft, lumpy and moved every time one of us moved in the bed), paper thin walls and floor creaking so could hear every person walk past our room in the corridor. The hair dryer was situated inside the wardrobe and had to be plugged in at the back of the wardrobe behind the tea making facilities so I had to try and dry my hair with my head half in the wardrobe.
Restaurant continental breakfast- both mornings waited ages for our porridge , both mornings coffee cafetière was put back as coffee was full of coffee grounds , very limited options on fruit, cheese was sweaty and curled at the edges, service was slow despite not being very busy and plenty of staff on. We had booked this as a nice break away after Christmas to get ways just the two of us , we booked with Expedia and paid £142 for 2 nights and paid additional for continental breakfast.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights and upgraded to a "club room". So glad we did as if this was the upgrade the basic room must be very basic indeed! Room decor was a bit tired and the view was the huge noisy building site next door! Not a lot the hotel can do about that to be fair. The toiletries are lovely and there are tea and coffee facilities in the room and a welcome box of chocoaltes which was a nice touch,

We had breakfast and dinner here too - starters were gorgeous but the lamb curry was definitely under par - some of the lamb being melt in the mouth and others like shoe leather! The breakfast is expensive for what it is to be honest and again a bit of a hit and miss . Eggs Benedict but the bacon was cold and I do mean cold - fridge cold! On the lovely waitress bring me another (my husband had now finished his breakfast by then) the eggs were very overcooked at £18.00 a head we were disappointed.

We ended up finding a lovely wee Italian place two minutes away "Smile cafe" with gorgeous breakfast and lovely sandwiches the coffee was excellent too.

The staff at the hotel are absolutely lovely. They work hard and are very welcoming. In particular Paula and Paul in the restaurant and the lovely Rodriguez in the bar who makes the best espresso martini! Everyone we met from the lovely lad on the reception to the waitresses were very friendly.

The hotel is ok! We stayed in a deluxe room paid £300 for two nights and overall there was nothing wrong with the hotel but it wasn’t anything particularly special. The rooms are a little tired and need a bit of paint to spruce them up. The reception staff were cheerful on arrival but as our stay progressed barely lifted their heads to acknowledge our presence when the hotel had no one else in reception. The room was very very spacious and clean but so dark. We had a room facing the front of the hotel but the window pains were all frosted so there was absolutely no natural light! Such a strange interior choice. Previously we have stayed in Blythswood Hotel just round the corner and while it’s a bit more expensive it’s far the superior hotel.

Dear Lottie_B1, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We appreciate your comments following your stay, all feedback whether positive or constructive is vital for us to gage how our guests feel not only upon and arrival at the hotel but throughout the duration of your visit. Your room was allocated in our original church section of the building meaning most rooms are internal, on your next visit feel free to request a room on the Pitt Street side of the building which have more natural light with being on the street side. I do hope we are able to welcome you back to the hotel again in the near future. Best Regards, Chris

The Malmaison is not well suited to hosting Christmas breaks given that there is no lounge in which people can sit around a cosy fire and get to meet each other, so there is nowhere to host a games night, or quiz. That said, the management and staff offered a great package with the service to match.

On arrival on Christmas Eve we were offered a 20% discount to use the Q-Parks car park in Waterloo Street, four blocks away down a steep hill. Ordinarily that would be great, but as parking was free on Christmas Day we found it more convenient and far cheaper to park on a meter right outside the hotel, paying only for Christmas Eve until 18.00hrs and from 09.00hrs until we left at midday on Boxing Day.

Our room was comfortable and clean, but the TV was mounted on a wall parallel to the bed, which meant that watching was not such a comfortable experience and as at Christmas there is little else to do but eat, go for a walk and watch TV, this was a disappointment. Why not mount the TV on a bracket that can be adjusted to provide a more comfortable viewing angle?

There was a chilled bottle of champagne in an ice bucket, with two glasses on arrival and on Christmas morning a stocking was hung on our door with a Christmas card from the management and a stocking with a Cadbury's Orange and a mandarin inside.

The drain for the sink was blocked and the heating did not work in the bathroom. Although we reported both, nothing could be done over the Christmas period.

The food and service throughout our stay was really good, so we felt that we had made a good decision is staying at the Malmaison over the festive period.

This afternoon my wife and I along with two friends decided to book a Sunday dinner with our Xmas Vouchers. Firstly the on-line booking system would not allow us to book a table for 4 with our two vouchers however the duty manageress sorted a table of four fairly quickly. We were entitled to a 4 course Sunday Dinner, we therefore started with the soup and we chose the Onion & Leek, which had run out, so we waited and our waiter brought 4 portions from the kitchen direct when ready, very tasty! We then had some D'houvres which were very sparse and not being replenished! For mains we all opted for the Roasted Sirloin which was delicious and so was the Veg! Desserts were also a joy, we opted for the Crumble and others the Sticky toffee pudding! All in all well worth a visit however I would recommend an early sitting if you are using a voucher as ours was 2:45pm and we just made it with the food, others coming in after 3pm not so lucky!. Also the drinks bill of £67 was a bit steep but worth it as the cocktails were delicious too!

Our first time at Malmaison and we were very happy with out stay, we booked a club room and we both really liked the decor and contemporary style of the room, toiletries were very nice and there was a coffee machine with pods as well as water in the fridge, plenty of towels provided and robes too.
Only downside was a few little signs of wear and tear in the bathroom.. strangely the cold water tap flows very hot at first which can catch you out.
The bar and restaurant areas are modern and fresh, the cocktails are very good (best whisky sour I've had) but maybe a little pricy at £10 each.
Check in was fantastic, we arrived 2 hours early and the receptionist found us a room straight away! This was much appreciated.
The location is pretty ideal for exploring the city centre for daytime shopping and nighttime bar hopping it's also a short walk to a couple of theatre's.
Overall this was an enjoyable stay and we'd definitely use Malmaison again.
