Our first stay at a Motel One and it probably won’t be our last. Very impressed with the stylish lobby, the well-thought-out and very clean rooms, and the front desk service. All of which is way above what you would expect for the price (we paid about £120 a night for three nights in mid-September) and puts some of the drab-looking ‘budget’ chains to shame. Location is great too; not the smartest area of Glasgow but perfectly fine, and right next to Central Station, which (as you might expect from the name) is in the centre of the city and made a few days' getaway from London super easy. A 20-odd minute easy walk or a few minutes' cab ride to Finneston, where most of the really good restaurants are, and we even walked out to the Pollokshaws Road in about 30 minutes, which has some nice independent shops and is obviously on the way up.

Some ticks from me: somewhere to actually put your washbag in the bathroom; lots of space to put clothes and suitcase away; and extra hooks by the door for your coat and daily bags/shopping. As well as the stuff that you should expect from any hotel but which is often lacking, like good pillows, a very comfortable mattress, temperature control in the room that you can actually understand, and a decent shower with a sensible water-retention system. Some fun style touches too, like cool Scottish photography in the rooms and lobby, so much nicer than the generic ‘blah’ art you get in so many hotel rooms. Motel One, if your business plan is keep prices affordable but create an environment that doesn't say 'cheap', then it's working a treat.

Of course, service is what really makes a hotel somewhere you want to return to, and it was uniformly very good. A special shout-out for Rachel, who checked us in with a genuine smile and then remembered us when we went back with questions (which were efficiently dealt with), in a very busy environment. Thank you Rachel, you made our trip so much nicer! If only more hotels could be like this, and offer actual value for money, how much more pleasant travel would be.

I've just spent three nights over Hogmanny at Motel One. It is a very well located Glasgow hotel actually adjacent to Glasgow Central Station. The rooms are on the small side but this shouldn't be a concern for people who essentially book the place because they want to experience the city. good Wifi which doesn't switch off when you turn off your device, good room service, great staff, and most importantly, it is very quiet.

the bar is pretty glam and has a mix of locals and European hotel stayers, and is relatively cheap. Where this hotel is let down is by the breakfast. At £19 you are much better advised to go further afield to seek a good meal as the breakfast is pretty basic. What prevents this hotel from the top spot is their sinks. many people like to have a basin of water to wash their face/shave/take off makeup. At Motel 1 you cannot do this for some reason so I'm sure a lot of people waste water by letting it flow endlessly to meet their needs. Hopefully they can sort this out before it becomes an issue with their business! Good luck!

After a previously disastrous trip to Glasgow in February, I decided to book Motel One, after having come across it during a walk in the city centre. It was reasonably priced and had discount car parking prices at the Oswald Street NCP nearby (from £25 down to £9 per 24 hours).

The hotel is very stylish and modern, and we were immediately impressed. Having joined online as a member, I got free water upon check-in and a free one time offer for a breakfast. The rooms are spacious enough and have tea/coffee making facilities, a massive TV, safe and plenty of hangers to hang your clothes on. Not those horrible hangers that fall down all the time too, proper hangers.

The room smelled amazing. The soaps and shower gels in the bathroom also smelled amazing and we had a lovely view looking out over Hope Street. We didn’t use the bar but we had breakfasts on both mornings, there was plenty to fill your stomach with before going out for the day. Hubby was especially impressed with the granola and it was nice to have boiled eggs with your continental breakfast. The little pastries were also lovely.

Despite overlooking Hope Street/Argyll Street, we heard very little noise and it was so central. There were plenty of great places to eat nearby, we were so spoiled for choice.

I really loved this hotel. We didn’t have much interaction with the staff but when we did deal with them, they were nice. We were especially taken by the two sheep in the reception area.

I look forward to coming back again here in April.

Stayed here on Saturday first night away post lockdown.
All very well organised, hand sanitiser provides and signs advising to wear masks in lifts and hallways.
So the reason for my 3 bubbles, our room. The pictures do not show the true state of the rooms, we booked a king size room and when we got to the room it was not a king size bed, the carpet was dirty, the windowsills were dirty. The rooms here need a serious updating, they look tired and uninspiring. We spoke to the receptionist and explained our thoughts and we were moved into a bigger room which was much better. The shower was great, very powerful and the bed was comfy.
Reception looks very trendy but on closer inspection the seating area is filthy, especially the couch area. Absolutely not acceptable, especially since we should all be taking more care just now to keep social spaces sanitised and clean. Didn’t see any staff members cleaning tables after use.
All in all our experience was ok, but there’s a lot of work to be done here.

Coming from the US I was hesitant to consider this property based on the word 'motel'. At home, motel most often means a low budget property with few amenities. I'm glad checked out the website and booked our room. What a deal at 89£ for one night. Loved the vibe the moment we entered the doors, modern decor inviting atmosphere throughout the reception lounge area, bar and workspace areas. We were warmly greeted immediately at check-in. We were told that we were upgraded to a larger room in a quiet corner on the top floor, after asking if we had a room preference. Once exiting the elevator, the hallway was very warm as if the heat was turned on too high.
Our room #12.47 was very small. We questioned whether the upgrade was the larger room, we couldn't imagine there being a smaller room. Minimalist boutique style clean room with comfy bed/pillows and great rooftop views over Glasgow.
The bathroom door was very narrow and was fine for small me, but not made for larger persons. Though the bathroom was small, there was plenty of space to set up toiletries on the ledge behind the toilet as well as each side of the bowl sink. Bonuses were the magnifying mirror, rainfall shower with great pressure and a salon quality hair dryer.
There were only USB ports on one side of the bed, which made charging our phones and portable chargers a bit challenging.
We could hear a faint rumble of trains while in our room, but no other outside noises at all which was wonderful.
This hotel is in an ideal location in the busier section of City Center and perfect for those arriving at Central Station via train as you can walk to the hotel easily from there.
In my opinion I feel this property is an excellent choice for the solo traveler who is looking for an affordable lodging choice. The rooms are best suited for single travelers. I don't think it's ideal for those traveling with children, though they show having cots. In our room there was hardly any room to open up our two suitcases; cots being set up would be crammed in tight. As a couple a night or two would be fine, but I'd look elsewhere for a longer stay.
Motel One is owned by a German company so a number of the television shows and advertisements were in German as expected. We found them interesting to watch.
The front desk also booked us a cab to the airport the following morning, once again friendly service.
If returning to Glasgow in the future or staying elsewhere where these properties are found I would definitely consider Motel One for my lodging choice.

This is a very central budget hotel ran by a German company, and the attention to detail really shows. Staff are helpful and the rooms are both clean and spacious. It's literally right next to one of Glasgow's main railway stations too, making it great for overnight stops. I'd stay here again

Prices are reasonable enough and there's a bar/seating area in the lobby. There's also places to eat very close to the hotel, although it's mostly takeaways.

Motel One in Glasgow is such a surprising gem because for such small prices you are guaranteed a clean, well-presented room with all the amenities you need.
The hotel features a gorgeous lounge with an array of seating areas and Scandinavian style design.
The beds are memory foam and sooooo comfortable! The shower was very warm and very clean, and we never had any problems with our room. It even included a modern style hairdryer and lots of charging points, including European charging points.

The only thing that let down this amazing hotel was the breakfast. We felt it was slightly steep at £9 for a very limited selection of food- a small variety of cheeses and hams, various cereals and a basket of pastries. The drink glasses were very small, just a bit bigger than a shot glass. We weren’t surprised by breakfast though, as we were informed that it would be a small continental buffet.

The staff were incredibly helpful and always on hand to help throughout our stay. I particularly want to thank the staff member Emma, who I witnessed handle a particularly challenging customer with an incredible amount of grace, customer care and delicacy. Emma listened to the customer, made sure to alleviate the issue and never once lost her sense of professionalism.

We loved our stay and will definitely be back!

I had to travel to Glasgow for a hospital appointment during National lockdown. I wasn’t sure what the score was regarding hotel stays, I had previously stayed in another Motel One in Manchester and had a good experience and as it was right beside the train station (Glasgow Central) and I was travelling alone due to Covid restrictions I decided to phone the hotel to ask what their current policy was. The gentleman I spoke to was so friendly and helpful, explaining that while the couldn’t accept leisure bookings I would be able to book a room due to having an “exceptional circumstance “ he also fully explained the changes they’d had to make in light of Covid. I went ahead and booked a standard room with continental breakfast.
The hotel was beautiful, the lounge area in particular was very nice and I’d definitely stay again once restrictions have eased.
My room, though small, had everything I needed for a 1 night stay though if staying longer I’d probably book a superior/ executive room just for more space.
The whole hotel was very clean and I felt they had taken every precaution required.
I do think perhaps I may have been the only guest as I didn’t see or hear anyone else so I can’t comment on how soundproof the room are!
In the evening once I’d returned from an arduous hospital appointment I popped down to reception a few times just for something to do and have a wee chat with the reception staff. There were 2 different girls manning reception while I was there and sadly I can’t recall their names - both (I think - bad memory!) had long dark hair) and they were just lovely and couldn’t do enough to help.
I ordered dinner from Uber Eats and was offered crockery and cutlery as well as hot or cold drinks.
My only “complaint” and it’s not “biggie” but I bought some bottled water from the bar and was charged £3.90 for a 75ml bottle of Strathmore water which I believe is roughly 25p a litre in Tesco!
I must add that the continental breakfast at £9 was vg value as I ate only a wee bit and took the rest home with me which was later enjoyed by my husband so really plenty for 2 😀
All in all a very good stay in difficult upersonal circumstances and will definitely stay again in future and recommend to others travelling to Glasgow.

Think this is my 4th stay here, my last was in 2019 Was given a very well appointed bright room, either first or second floor.

Bed was super comfortable with a great selection of pillows, plenty of plug space for charging devices and even usb plugs next to the bed.

Tv on the wall was a good size with easy access to the hdmi sockets so could plug in my device to watch Netflix etc when I was not out. Just note take a small usb plug like the apple one as its slimmer for behind the tv

Massive big window looking out to the busy street, small amount of noise outside from the party goers but overall it’s quiet for a city.

Bathroom is well laid out, lovely walk in shower with a small step. Plenty of toilettes available.
Paid extra for the continental breakfast which provided a great selection of goods to help start your day.

If you bring a car there’s a multi-storey two mins away get the hotel to validate your ticket and works out at £9 for 24 hours parking which is very reasonable. (I never saw this advertised anywhere just asked the receptionist)

There’s a great amount of space around the bar area but I never used this, plenty of bars/snooker hall around the area.

We stayed here last night, it was our first experience of Motel One.
Overall really impressed but the room was tiny and too small for 2 people staying anything more than 1 night.
Bed was so comfy with really good pillows. We both slept well - and we could open the window to get some fresh air.
The bathroom is very small but the shower is excellent.
There was limited hanging space and the bedroom could really do with a small bin to put rubbish into.
The staff in this hotel are a credit to the place. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The chap working the bar deserves a medal. Not only does he mix a great G&T but he single-handedly ran the bar last night when it was extremely busy following the Celtic/Copenhagen game. He really needed support given the large numbers waiting to be served but he had to manage the whole thing himself and that was no mean feat.
The hotel is in a great location and discounted parking is available at the nearby NCP.
All in all, we were left with a good impression of Motel One and will be back - just hope there are bigger rooms to book next time.
