Hubby and I stayed here on Friday 10th January, it was a very wet night and the room was such a warm oasis when we came back from dining out nearby. Both before and after check-in we left our luggage at reception which was no problem to the helpful and friendly staff. Our room (#10) was on the first floor and facing the park which was quiet. The shower was powerful, bed was comfy, wifi had a strong signal and there were very generous amounts of free tea, coffee and biscuits available in the room. There were even hair straighteners in the bathroom, can't say I've seen that before. Perhaps my favourite thing was access to a copy of The List restaurants magazine in the downstairs hall. All in all, a very pleasant find in Glasgow, we travel through the city quite a few times a year so we'll be adding the Acorn to our hotel list from now on. Thanks for the lovely experience.

This is a good basic hotel if you are looking for a conveniently located hotel and want a no frills stay. The price we paid was excellent for value for the room. The room and bathroom were clean and all in working order.

We were taking back our son to Glasgow University and found the hotel conveniently located near the M8, university, West End and Glasgow Central. It is also located on a road alongside to the entrance of Kelvingrove park and overlooks green space. Great is you fancy a walk before breakfast or after dinner. The road on which the hotel is located is very quiet, so you don’t get disturbed at night.

We went during Coronavirus and found the hotel to be very clean. They have very good systems in place to ensure social distancing: digital check-in/check-out and hand sanitation/face masks worn around the public access areas. We didn’t feel our safety was being compromised.

I would definitely stay again. The downsides? The room was a bit on the warm side. There was no air con and the window appeared to be locked shut. Also, hotel staff smoke out the main entrance, which is a bit off putting. You can also smell the fumes if you are in the room about the entrance on Woodside Place.

Dear allysonp634, Thank you for your great review of the Acorn Hotel. We are delighted that you found us to offer great value for money and that your bedroom was clean and our location was ideal for your visit. Glad that our extensive Co - vid 19 precautions gave you piece of mind during your stay. . We are sorry that you felt warm in your room, the Duty Manager would have been more than happy to open the window for you. The staff are not permitted to smoke at the main entrance which is the only entrance for guest to come and go with their keycard. We are investigating the issue you have raised and thank you for your feedback. Hope to see you again in the not too distant future. Best Regards Robert

The experience of dealing with and staying at the Acorn was a pleasure from start to finish. I booked a room for my elderly mother in law to be somewhere handy for a big family gathering in central Glasgow and she, and we, were made to feel like valued guests throughout. The online direct booking system was efficient and effective, reception dealt with my special requests very quickly and always with a perfect understanding of what was needed. The Acorn is in a very pleasant location, within walking distance of both the city and the West End and yet peaceful and very safe feeling. The building is well maintained, small enough to be personal but large enough to have a little bit of thoughtfully designed public space. Both the bedroom and the breakfast areas were clean, comfortable and well serviced. The staff on duty during our stay could not have been more friendly and were quietly thoughtful to our needs throughout. Our family of four joined Mum for a perfectly cooked to order leisurely Sunday breakfast. I have stayed at hotels across the globe of every size, shape and star rating for work and pleasure, and I can honestly say it was an absolute pleasure to discover this gem in the city where our hearts lie. Hopefully we'll be back!

The hotel is in a great location for walking into the City Centre. If you're driving there is parking on-road right outside the hotel for a small charge from reception, I had no problems getting a space - it's also easy to access being close to the M8.

If you're a whisky fan it's a very short walk to the Bon Accord and a short walk to the City Centre. If you're a parkrun tourist it's just a 20min or so gently uphill jog to the lovely Ruchill parkrun - great views of the City from there.

The reception from Diane was excellent, friendly and helpful. The single room suited my needs perfectly as a solo traveller and was clean and well equipped.

The only thing I'd flag up is that you are likely to get noise from the adjacent rooms and from outside. Ear plugs recommended if this bothers you.

Exceptionally clean boutique hotel ideally placed for lovers of Glasgows West End but only a 15 minute walk from the city centre. Free parking at the weekend kept costs down and the breakfast was probably the best we have had in a hotel for a long time. The hotel is in a lovely area for architecture fans and has direct access to Kelvingrove Park and everything that offers. Alan our hoist was extremely helpful offering us early access to our room and being very welcoming and friendly. The hotel is very quiet at night quite unlike some other city centre hotels and the room was lovely. We had a great view of Trinity Tower which was beautiful. The hotel offers great value for money and will be our go to hotel when next in Glasgow.

After experiencing an horrific hotel experience in Glasgow, the week before, (review to follow) at a nearby establishment, this return visit to the Acorn Hotel confirmed why it's worth a repeat visit! From the minute I arrived at the hotel door, I was greeted by one of managers, Kevin, who gave such an inviting and warm welcome and offered to help me with my bag which was very kind. I then met Neil at reception too, and he was a very engaging, and helpful manager, who talked through my booking and explained the room I would be staying in, checking everything was to my liking and of a high standard. The Acron Hotel is always spotlessly clean, has an excellent standard of rooms, is great value for money with options for discounts for returning guests of a discounted stay, late checkout, or free breakfast. You will always enjoy your stay here, and I can highly recommend checking them out for an extremely comfortable stay, but the managers and staff team make this hotel as their customer service is exceptional and other hotel competitors have a lot to learn from them!

The Acorn Hotel was less than an AirBnB and super comfortable and quiet. It was about £5-8 to get to the city centre via Uber and then only a ~15 min bus ride. The bus is close. The room was clean and the shower worked well. I enjoyed my stay. I didn't have any food there so can't comment on that. The staff was very friendly.

Communication prior to arrival was excellent. There was ample parking, which is free at the weekend and £4 per weekday. Check in was easy and contact free. We were given room 8, which is on the corner with a view of the park. This was ample for our 4 night stay. There was all the basics you'd expect; tea/coffee facilities, TV, wardrobe, desk, toiletries etc. The location was excellent, it was a 10 min walk to the main centre but also around the same in the other direction to lots of fabulous eateries. Various parks were very local for an amble after dinner. Staff were really friendly and chatty. We didn't eat breakfast during our stay, but due to covid you book in the night before. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stop again if in the area.

Centrally located for all Glasgow has to offer . Our room was very clean and quiet so slept well , although slightly on the small side it had everything you would need including free wi-fi , and very comfortable . Our room was on the second floor and there is no lift so its a bit of a climb . They don't do evening meals , there is an abundace of eateries round about though , but breakfast was plentiful and good quality . The duty manager (Alan) is a star and very helpful and knowledgeable , a great asset for the acorn . Overall I would certainly recommend this hotel .

Had never stayed here before but will definitely return! Kevin greeted us at the door, checked us in & made sure we were sorted for restaurants & taxis before the concert we were attending. In the morning he was in the kitchen preparing breakfast & although it was very busy the food provided was tasty & hot & Kevin made time to chat with everyone & ask about their stay. Rooms are perfect for a city break with a decent sized ensuite; an absolute bonus to find hair straighteners as well as the usual hairdryer, toiletries, TV & tea/coffee facilities. A great hotel for a decent price in a really good location for both West-End & city.

HI there. There is plenty of parking bays outside the hotel that you can park in. They are charging from 8am till 6pm Monday-Friday at a cost of £4 per day. From 6pm till 8am it is free of charge and all day Saturday and sunday is also free of charge.

You can park in parking bays in the street or nearby streets, but you will need to get parking vouchers for that. Please contact the hotel reception for details.

Hi Helen, The best way is to change trains at Queen Street & get the low level to Charing Cross and the hotel is 3-5 minutes walk. This costs the same as the fare to Queen Street and is the same distance as the nearest bus stop. There are no direct buses from Queen Street so you would need to go to Buchanan Bus station and get the No 77. Hope this helps!
